A self-catering rental, seconds from sandy beach, cafes and restaurants

This apartment, superbly located so close to the beach, is light and airy and equipped to a very high standard with granite and oak flooring, satellite TV, bath,dishwasher and washing machine. The apartment's elevated position on the 6th floor provides privacy and stunning views across the countryside and the sandy beach. The apartment has a lift and 2 shared pools: 1 small pool for children and 1 large pool for adults. There is a private balcony with great beach and sea views . The apartment is centrally located and close to the older part of the town with palm trees and cobbled streets. Nearby there are a good variety of restaurants and cafes lining the beach front, serving a wide range of cuisine, seafood a speciality. Sao Martinho is a beautiful small coastal resort. Its natural shell-shaped bay gives shelter and makes it one of the warmest and safest places to swim along the west coast. It is a very family friendly place and provides a warm welcome to its visitors

Travel to Lisbon: There are flights to Lisbon from many airports in the UK and Europe, including London Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton, Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol and Liverpool. Airlines include BA, EasyJet, Monarch, bmi baby, Tap Air Portugal, Air France, Lufthansa and Alitalia.

Travel from airport to apartment: Hire car companies are located at the airport. Alternatively there are taxis, trains 3 times daily (journey time approximately 3 hours) or express buses which run several times daily (journey time approximately 1 hour 15 minutes).

May Half Term Break Sao Martinho Do Porto

We visited in May half term and would throroughly recommend this property. The description on the website was correct and the property is light and airy and comfortable with all the facilities youwould need. The view is magnificent over the wilder duny area of the bay. The beach was cleaned with a tractor and a team of beach workers every morning and even when the water at the headlands looked rough the sea was calm in the bay. There were lots of plugs and lots of storage/wardrobe space and a really large fridge/freezer in the kitchen. The balcony, which is off the kitchen only has room for two people to sit comfortably but the view is lovely, getting the midday and afternoon sun full on when we were there. The owners have been great all along since initial enquiry to follow up and answered all our questions honestly and promptly. We had a lovely Trip to the walled town of Obidos which has interesting touristy shops and places to eat and is very pituresque and we found the beach at Foz Do Arehlo great with the family for swimming and paddling out on the sandbanks although you need to pick your spot when the tide turns for safety. As we were leaving, June 1st, the pool was opening and it is a lovely area. Also the beach bar opened and little beach shelters were being put up and some childrens bouncy castles were going up at the far end of the town on the green area and a funfair near the dunes so we could see things wouuld begin to get a lot busier over the main Summer Months. We had a great time without all these things as we like the peace and quiet of a sleepy feeling resort and our children are teenage girls so liked eating out, sunbathing/swimming and shopping more. I think I could have had an equally good time with a group of girlfriends and I know my parents in their 70's would have loved it - in particular the walk to Salir do Porto on the board walk.

Great little apartment in super location

We had a great long weekend stay in this lovely apartment. The village itself is fantastic and lots open even though we were off season. We loved the beach - very unspoilt and we had some lovely strolls along the beach and the promenade, stopping for coffee on the front and watching the world go by. The seafront is literally only a few minutes walk from the apartment and we had a fantastic seafood feast one evening in one of the local restaurants - highly recommended! We hired a car so that we could explore further afield and there was plenty for us to see and do.

The apartment was clean, comfortable and very conveniently located - great bathroom! We even had a small welcome pack which was great!

We would definitely recommend and will definitely go back for a summer stay.

Lovely apartment

A lovely, spacious, clean and well-equipped apartment (it made such a change to have a proper kitchen) in a great position opposite the beach and within minutes of restaurants and cafes. Our children made great use of the pools which were never too busy even in the middle of August.

Sao Martinho has a friendly atmosphere and the beach is one of the safest around.

This apartment is centrally located in Sao Martinho - an unspoilt fishing town which manages to maintain its unique and wonderful character.It has a lovely relaxed, friendly feel but if you fancy a change from the beach there is plenty to do nearby. All can be found within a 25 minute drive: for the more active there is world class golf at Praia D'el Rey (18 hole course), horse-riding or windsurfing at Nazare. There are many picturesque historical sights: Obidos a medieval walled city, Alcobaca an ancient monastery, Batalha (Battle Abbey) a UNESCO world heritage site. Visit the shrine at Fatima - an important Catholic pilgrimage centre or go to Caldas da Rainha for shopping and cappuchinos. If you want the great outdoors head a little further afield to Parque Natural das Serras de Aire e Candeeiros offering rugged limestone hills, crags and even glow-worm caves. Truly something for everyone!

  • The apartment is very secure - you enter first through the locked outer door and then take the lift or stairs to the apartment. Access to the garage is by electronic key and is available only to people staying in the apartments. There are 2 swimming pools overlooking the beach - 1 large adult pool with diving board and 1 small children's pool, accessible only to people staying in the apartments. They are open from mid-June to mid-September. The balcony has a small table and 2 chairs and also gives fantastic views over the beach. 2 beach chairs also available. We have provided an iron, DVDs and games. There are bath towels but not beach towels. You will be met by our local contact who will hand over keys and be available to answer any questions. There will also be an information folder on the local area and a welcome pack to save you dashing out to the shops on arrival containing the essentials: tea, coffee, sugar, water and a bottle of wine to enjoy on the balcony
