Un petit Paradis

  • 5 of 5

Comfortable and spacious - perfect for relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We spent a couple of very relaxed weeks in Villa Tranquilla. It was spacious, comfortable and well equipped (we loved the juicer!) giving us everything we needed to enjoy a great holiday. The outside areas were lovely with shade and sun and the pool fantastic. The surrounding garden was kept looking perfect by a friendly Valentin and his wife. The villa is in a quiet location, with views over the sea and Salobrena, yet close enough to walk to the urbanization's larger pool (and small football) pitch when a change of scene was required for the children.

Spacious villa with superb views and gardens

  • 5 of 5

Wonderfully spacious villa in extensive grounds with lovely views over coast and Salobrena. Property very clean and well-equipped. We had a couple of problems which were very quickly attended to by the local agents. Ten minutes to Salobrena town with good supermarkets and restaurants. Los Mariscos golf fifteen minutes away is an eccentric layout but reasonably well-maintained with an excellent restaurant for both snacks and meals. Half an hour to Nerja, an hour to Granada by excellent roads. Being December, we didn't use it but large tiled lounge and second kitchen lead to nice pool and hot-tub. Good valu accommodation for our party of 3 couples.

Another amazing stay at Villa Tranquila!

  • 5 of 5

This was our third visit from Canada to Villa Tranquila. This time we gathered for a family reunion – 4 couples and a toddler. We chose Villa Tranquila as we knew from our previous two visits that it would comfortably accommodate our large group. As on our previous two visits, we were not disappointed!

On arrival, you see beautiful palms surrounding the main part of the villa, and at the front door, you are welcomed by the sweet scent of the jasmine plant adorning the entrance. There are fruit trees everywhere; during our three visits we’ve enjoyed avocados, guavas, cherimoya or custard apples, oranges, grapefruit, and even almonds - whatever happened to be in season. Since our last visit, the owners had added tomatoes, vegetables and herbs. There is something about picking your own veggies and fruit which makes you feel grounded. Many a salad was enjoyed, using tomatoes from the garden and dressings made simply from lime juice and zest and basil - all from the garden. Such simple pleasures!

With four bedrooms, each with a spacious en-suite, the villa was ideal. The bedrooms are huge, with lots of closet space; the bathrooms are spacious, with his/her sinks; the swimming pool is a good size - not in view from surrounding villas – with comfortable lounge chairs around for sunbathing and reading. And….if anyone wanted to retreat somewhere for quiet time, they needn’t have looked far: there are two balconies/terraces; there’s a comfortable seating area on the main floor and another seating area downstairs; or one can just stroll and explore the gardens of the villa.

And…..from the balcony, you get an amazing view of the Mediterranean. If you want to see fantastic sunrises, take a cup of coffee and witness wonderful, intense colours over the ocean, with the mountains in the distance. What an incredible way to start the day! And if you allow your eyes to travel the horizon, you can often see cruise ships going to Malaga.

We loved the calmness and tranquility of Villa Tranquila. We don’t know if we will be fortunate enough to come yet again to Salobrena, but we do know this: our three visits to Villa Tranquila have been, without a doubt, memorable. The owners are gracious and generous in heart and spirit. They willingly go the extra mile, and we thank them for looking after us and making all our visits comfortable.

Amazing Views!

  • 3 of 5

My family spent a week here in July (2 teenagers, my elderly parents, my husband and myself). The size of the property is fantastic and the children especially liked the fact that they had huge rooms with en-suites. The Owners were extremely lovely and popped by to see that we were all ok, we had mentioned that a ceiling fan was not working and we asked if they had a cafeteria as we like our coffee!! That same day they came by with some new stand up fans and a cafeteria, we were very appreciative. The owners have a vegetable garden and fruit trees on the property which we were encouraged to help ourselves to, nothing like a G & T with a freshly picked lemon!! The downside to the property is that it really is not suitable for the elderly as there are very steep steps to the pool and up to the car parking space. Also the word Luxury, is definitely subjective, the property was luxury in it's size and views but in our view the décor, bathrooms and kitchens could do with an overhaul (the downstairs kitchen was missing a dishwasher (just an empty hole in the unit, and it was not kitted out with plates, pans, cutlery etc. so if you needed to use it as a second kitchen you would have to go upstairs to get everything before you could cook). There was only one walk in shower in the master bedroom, the rest of the showers were over the baths, and all the bathrooms were very dated, with plastic towel rails that needed a little help keeping the towels up! All I shall say about the décor is, if you are going to put the seven dwarfs as ornaments over the fireplace, make sure there are all seven!!! The pool area - the pool is a little shabby around the edges, but is was warm and we had lots of fun in it. The bar at the pool had about 3/4 broken patio umbrella's thrown in which we moved ourselves and hid them behind a tree. The vegetable garden is to the side of the property looked like a small allotment with faded broken scarecrows and gardening tools left out. My son had the shock of his life when he thought the upside down scarecrow hanging from a tree was a real person!!

That said, we all had a lovely week in Salobrena and the owners were truly accommodating and wanted to please us.

Owner's Response: Thank you taking the time to post a review and glad to hear you had a good time at the villa with your family. I take your point with regard to the elderly and infirm. However, it is worth noting that if you approach the pool from the ground floor inside the villa there are no steep steps. Also, I am in my sixties and many of our customers have also been in the same age range or older, and have not had any problems. We used to have two fully fitted kitchens with two dishwashers. However, after a number of years of renting realised that most people renting the villa do so in order that they can bond with their families, friends, relatives etc. Therefore, they generally cook together in the upstairs kitchen and eat out on one of the terraces. Families seldom want to cook separately. So although the second kitchen is fully equipped in terms of a second, fridge freezer, cooker, etc. there is no second dishwasher, and to date we have not had any complaints from our guests as one dishwasher is deemed sufficient. I think I disagree that the décor in the bathrooms is dated. All the bathrooms are large, fully tiled with double his and her sinks. Pictures of the bathrooms are on our website. We will of course check out the towel rails. I have asked our agents to remove and replace some of the umbrellas. We had noticed that one of the dwarfs - Grumpy had gone missing. Hopefully he will be located soon. I hope your son has recovered and there was no lasting damage from the shock of seeing an upside down scarecrow!!! As you point out luxury is by definition a subjective term. We think that a villa in picturesque Salobrena, with, a large number of sea view terraces, beautiful sea views from each room, large rooms all with large en-suite bathrooms, two large lounges, two internet enabled televisions, fast internet broadband with a laptop, a fruit garden with lemons, oranges and melons etc., a herb garden, swimming pool, Jacuzzi, and parking for six cars is luxurious. Most of our customers seem to agree.
