About the property

Modern well equipped cottage with garden, ensuite bedrooms and lovely sea views.

Crantock Cottage is a spacious 4 bedroom cottage which sleeps 8 people plus a baby.

Downstairs you will find a conservatory, lounge/diner and well equipped kitchen, all with stunning sea views. Patio doors lead out onto a large wooden deck, equipped with table, chairs and BBQ. The deck is perfect for relaxing in the evening with a glass of wine and a meal and watching the sun set over the bay.

Upstairs all 4 bedrooms are ensuite (2 kingsize bedrooms, 1 double bedroom and 1 twin bedroom). The 2 spacious master bedrooms have their own seating areas and views of the sea and plenty of space for a travel cot (not supplied).

The well kept garden has plenty of seating in which to enjoy the sun and watch the sea.

The house is well equipped with TV, DVD, freeview, wifi, ipod docking station, washing machine, tumble dryer, dish washer, board games/books/puzzles and local information. Bed linen and bath towels are all provided.

Crantock cottage is just a 5 minute walk via a footpath down to the beach, making it an ideal base for family beach holidays. In addition there are many local attractions and activities nearby in Newquay and Truro

Crantock is lovely picturesque village with many amenities including convenience shop, post office, tea rooms and a 400 year old thatched village pub which serves quality food. Outside the heart of the village there is also a beach cafe and a cliff top restaurant looking out over the sea.

The main reason people consider Crantock to be one of the most desirable places to visit is its large sandy bay, (perfect for paddling, swimming and surfing) and the protected National Trust headlands and Gannel Estuary which provides a haven for wildlife and birds.

Nearby is the secluded beach of Polly Joke, without a carpark and only accessed via a footpath - it is perfect for relaxing far away from it all.

The nearest town is Newquay, which is a vibrant fishing town which can be accessed by foot and ferry or by road from Crantock. Newquay has a wide range of family activities (zoo, aquarium, cinema etc) souvenir shops and excellent night life. Newquay boasts 4 large beaches, which offer a variety of water based activities including, surfing lessons, coasteering, paddle boarding and fishing trips.

Crantock is also a great base for visiting the cathedral town of Truro (13 miles away), which has excellent shopping, museums and restaurants. A little further is the harbour town of Falmouth (23 miles away), with a fantastic maritime museum and plenty of opportunities for windsurfing, kayaking and sailing.

Other local attractions include the world famous Eden Project (Botanical Gardens) (21 miles away) and The Lost Gardens of Helligan and other national trust houses and gardens. Similarly children will have plenty to do with many local activity centres and theme parks.

Access and parking: Crantock is easily accessible by road and is only 5 miles away from Cornwall's main access road (A30). The property has off road parking for 3 cars.

Newquay train station and airport is only 5 miles from the property.

Brilliant family house

We had a wonderful time in crantock, the house is spacious and very well equipped. The views are outstanding and we head a couple of amazing sunsets watched sitting on the deck with a glass of fizz. Beach a short walk away down a track to the quieter end of the beach kids loved the body boarding, then to the Bowgie inn brilliant food.. The village is great with craft shops & a Londis. Highly recommended for families with kids young& old.

Amazing cottage in a fantastic location

I stayed here in July with my husband, three sons, and my husbands parents. The house was more than big enough for all of us and provided everything that we needed. It is in a perfect location - walking distance to the beach and to local shops and pubs serving great food. The house itself was very clean and well equipped and we were provided with all the information we needed from the owners. I loved our holiday at Crantock Cottage and would definitely stay there again.

Crantock Cottage

Beautiful home just like pictures. Our family of eight adults plus two 7 month old twins had a wonderful time with spacious rooms and large bedrooms with en suites. The views were great and the facilities were outstanding. We made use of the laundry room with removing sand etc and hanging wetsuits to dry. The owners were very nice and made sure we had all we needed. It was the perfect place for a family holiday. The local pubs were very good and the food. We had drives into Newquay when weather not too good for beach. The beach isn't far but found the dune rather steep, apart from that it was an absolute perfect holiday and would love to go again. Highly recommended.

Spacious with lovely views of the bay and beach

We were surprised and impressed by the lovely views and found the house well laid out and with everything we needed. This is clearly someone's house when not being let and this showed in the quality of decor and fittings. We didn't use the sunroom enough as we were out too much, but in worse weather we would have. We would be happy to recommend this and come again.

Crantock Cottage was perfect for our family - Mum, Dad, two sons, one girlfriend, one daughter, her husband and two year old son. Four bedrooms and four en suites, what more could you want. The main bedroom was the best with a king size bed, sofa, new bathroom, and lovely views. The other bedrooms plus showers were fine.

The kitchen, sitting room and conservatory were all spacious, so our large group did not feel crowded.

The cottage lived up to its description, and we were very happy with the facilities.

I would recommend it to everyone!

A magical week

The cottage is in a beautiful location which was easy to find. The owners where very helpful & sent a detailed map with directions. Upon arriving we where warmly greeted by the owner who was more than happy to show us around &answer any questions.

The cottage is decorated beautifully with a kitchen full of all the essentials needed to cook for a family. The owners provided a few essentials : tea, coffee, sugar. Which was a thoughtful touch.

The bedrooms are big & airy. The two double bedrooms have breathtaking views of the beach. The fact that all bedrooms are en-suit was an added bonus.

The owners put together a booklet full of local information which was very helpful. It included local walks, nearest shops & best places to eat.

The village is quaint, not all shops accept debit cards, but they do accept cheques. There is no ATM in the village either, but there is a big supermarket nearby.

The beach was our main attraction & my sons where thrilled with a local surfing lesson on Crantock Beach from Rob who was an excellent teacher. The local pubs where family friendly & the food was great.

We would most definitely revisit this beautiful village & would not hesitate to stay at Crantock cottage. The holiday was true value for money.

The property is located in the rural village of Crantock, just a 5 minute walk, via a country footpath, from the wide sweeping sandy bay of Crantock, where guests can enjoy the stunning National Trust coastline and the long golden sands of Crantock Bay.

The bay is lifeguard patrolled and perfect for swimming, surfing and body boarding. There are plenty of watersports on offer with kayaking, stand up paddle boarding and surfing all available for hire and/or lessons.

The picturesque village of Crantock, with its lovely thatched cottages, offers a tea room, a 400 year old thatched pub serving good quality food, a bakery, a beach café, a grocery store, a post office and a cliff top restaurant overlooking the sea.

The beach and surrounding headlands form part of the beautiful National Trust Conservation Area. To the North of the bay lies the Gannel estuary which has created a beautiful sandy haven for countless seabirds, with plenty of rock pools to explore and great opportunities for catching crabs with the children. Or why not enjoy a leisurely evening stroll along the rivers edge at high tide and see what you can see?

Newquay has excellent attractions for both adults and children, including a zoo, aquarium, indoor fun pool with flumes, boating lake and a theme park. Newquay also boasts 4 large beaches, which offer a variety of water based activities including, surfing lessons, coasteering, paddle boarding and fishing trips.

The BBC’s description of Crantock: “This quaint hidden cove is the place to escape the rowdy hordes in nearby Newquay. Set at the bottom of a quintessentially English village with two charming pubs, you’ll find it by wandering through the National Trust car park.
