Stable cottage was formerly a stable and groom house for the local big house, used in the '60's as a garage for a Le Mans car and first converted to a home in 1972. 100% remodelled and refitted in 2011 it now offers superb accommodation for 4. The cottage stands in a high walled private courtyard facing south and overlooking the Falmouth river. Parking is possible in the courtyard for a medium sized car but is free and safe on the road.

Entrance hall with slate floor, ground floor bedroom twin or 5' double (you choose) and en suite shower room; Kitchen/dining room with French doors with views over the river and accessing dining terrace and courtyard. Cloakroom. Stairs to landing and living room, lovely double aspect room with fireplace and water views. 1st floor bedroom with 5' double and en suite bathroom. Very private sunny decking area with 4 loungers. Courtyard is decorated with raised flower beds and pots. Finished internally with a blend of white, oiled oak and pale fabrics

Staying in the village of Flushing: From Stable cottage there are 2 pubs, the Royal Standard recently fully renovated and now presenting a modern style. Serving interesting food and summertime BBQ in the garden; the Seven Stars used by the locals and visitors alike, serves good pub food and rents crab lines to occupy the children young and old. Both pubs have views over the river and are about 100 meters from the house. Further through the village along Trefusis Road, named after the local manor house, is the village shop selling papers and basic provisions. The Quay cafe stands on one of the old stone fishing quays and serves a range of food from burgers to fine local fish and meats. The ferry to Falmouth leaves every 30 min throughout the day. Further still through the village is the second quay where Flusing sailing club has its base with the race start and finish line immediately off the quay, racing on Tuesday evening. A little further to the sandy beach with rock pools at low tide, well behaved dogs allowed.

Walking from the cottage: The favourite walk from the house is through the village and around the headland to Mylor Yacht harbour which gives lovely views out to sea and across the Carrick Roads (Falmouth estuary) and past Restronguet sailing club where many of the UK world and Olympic racing champions including Ben Ainsley learnt to sail. At MYH is Castaways Wine bar giving an excellent range of home prepared meals to suit all budgets and also the Mylor Cafe in its new (2011) building overlooking the marina. Returning to Flushing can be via Mylor bridge, or on the lanes or simply back along the water's edge. Another lovely walk starts with a ferry via Falmouth to St Mawes and then on foot past the castle and the water edge path to St Just with one of the prettiest churches in the UK. And another takes you through Mylor village and over the hill to Restronguet, home of the famous Pandora Inn and back around the headland to Mylor. Walks with start in the car are innumerable

Things to do: Access to Falmouth can be by Ferry or car, there is easy parking. In Falmouth there are a good range of shops including M&S and the infamous Trago, the National Maritime Marina, an excellent range of eating places including Rick Steins. The seafront gives easy walking with lovely views over Falmouth Bay and access to Gyllyngvase beach for bathing and surfing. Truro is 11 miles to the north can be reached by ferry via Falmouth or by car. Pretty cathedral city with all normal small city facilities. Boats can be launched at many places, either free or for a small fee and can be hired locally from dinghies to large sailing and motor cruisers (for the experienced and qualified). Swimming and fitness centres are available in Penryn and Falmouth. Tennis in Mylor Bridge and Falmouth. Many miles of dedicated cycle ways. Slightly further afield there are many organised activities: Flambards, Eden project, Formal gardens at Heligan and many others.The Tate galley at St Ives. Surfing at Newquay.

Fully renovated and refitted in 2011 and newly equipped. The sitting room has 2 x 2 seat settees, a bean bag/footstool and upholstered window seat overlooking the river. The fireplace contains and electric flame effect wood burner. The 26' flat screen TV with Freeview channels is behind a cupboard door with a DVD player. There is a digital FM radio/CD player with MP3 connection. The dining room has a solid oak modern dining table and 4 matching chairs. The hall is floored in slate and gives access to the cloakroom, ground floor bedroom and stairs to landing. The landing gives access to sitting room and double bedroom . Outside it is possible to park a medium sized car inside the gates but parking on the road is free, safe and unrestricted. There is a decking area with loungers and a dining terrace.

A small piece of Heaven

This as a gorgeous little cottage; we didn't want to leave. Very well presented with good quality furniture, bedding etc and the kitchen is well equipped. We found it to be exceptionally well maintained and cleaned. The views over the river and lovely from the upstairs rooms. The road outside the cottage gets quite busy with cars but we always managed to get parked; although you can park on the gravel driveway it does make the garden area feel quite cramped - ideal for packing and unpacking. The village itself is lovely and there are two nice pubs within walking distance and we found the locals to be friendly. Definitely will return at sone point.

Owner's Response: Owners comment re parking - There is enough room in the courtyard to park one reasonable sized car - E-Class Estate. This will leave the whole of the terrace area outside the dining room, the path from the front door to the sun deck are and the sundeck completely free. Depending on how the car is positioned it can make walking around the car itself tight. Most guests do choose to park in the courtyard. The road outside is level and there is unrestricted parking for many cars on the road. It would be very unusual not to be able to park within 100 meters of the property but usually immediately outside, if you chose not to park in the courtyard. The village is a "dead end" (cul de sac) so the road only goes into the village thus there is no traffic going past the cottage other than to cottages in the village. There is no where in the village where a lorry can turn around and so the only large vehicle is a coach type bus which goes past a few times each week.

Es war wirklich toll!! Eine echte Empfehlung!

Das wunderschöne und liebevoll eingerichtete Cottage ist eine wirkliche Empfehlung. Alles ist sehr gepflegt und der Vermieter Chris hat sich um kleinere Nachfragen und Probleme umgehend und nett gekümmert. Selten hatten wir eine so vollständig ausgestattete Küche. Toll fanden wir die beiden getrennten Bäder, eines oben und eines unten, jeweils bei den beiden Schlafräumen. Darüber hinaus gibt es noch ein separates Gäste-WC. Der kleine Vorgarten mit Terrasse ist bei schönem Wetter ideal für ein Frühstück draussen.

In Flushing selbst kann man sehr schöne Spaziergänge oder Wanderungen unternehmen, z.B. an der Küste entlang bis zum Yachthafen nach Mylor, wo auch eine nette Gastronomie ist. Der Fußmarsch dauert etwa 30 bis 40 Minuten. Aber auch in Flushing selbst gibt es etwas Gastronomie. Ebenso ein kleiner Krämerladen. Tagsüber fahren Fähren rüber nach Falmouth. Falmouth selber erreicht man per Auto in gut 10 Minuten und dort ist ein breiteres Angebot. Man kann darüber hinaus sehr schöne Tagestouren z.B. zur Lizard-Halbinsel oder nach St. Ives unternehmen. Für uns war es perfekt und wir würden wiederkommen. Thomas

Ich kann mich der Bewertung von Sandra S. nur anschließen. Dieses Cottage lässt keine Wünsche offen. Es ist wunderschön und liebevoll eingerichtet. Die Ausstattung ist perfekt und technisch super ausgerüstet. Alles sehr gepflegt und sauber. Die Lage mit Blick auf den Penryn River hat uns jeden Tag aufs Neue erfreut. Die Fährverbindungen von Flushing über Falmouth und weiter haben wir zweimal genutzt und waren begeistert über die tolle Landschaft, kleine und große Küstenstädtchen und vieles mehr. Flushing selbst hat uns sehr gefallen - wir haben freundliche Menschen getroffen (Dorfladen und Pubs) und die Ruhe genossen. Es lässt sich von dort aus mit dem Mietwagen einiges erkunden - Trebah Garden, Lizard Point, Minnack Theatre, St. Michaels Mount und sogar Tintagel an der Nordküste ließen wir uns nicht entgehen. Es war ein rundum traumhaft schöner Urlaub. Cornwall wird uns nicht loslassen.

wunderschönes kleines Cottage

Ein absolutes Scmuckstück in ruhiger Lage gegenüber der Bucht von Falmouth. Die Bilder versprechen nicht zu viel !!! Alles war perfekt. Alles vorhanden und im sehr gutem Zutand. sehr sauber und gepflegt.(Geschirr, Spülmaschine, Waschmaschine usw.) Das Häuschen an sich ist einfach nur traumhaft. Der Vermieter hat uns bestens informiert und die Anfahrtsbeschreibing hat bestens gepasst.Wir haben diesen Ort gewählt, da wir sehr viel in Cornwall unterwegs waren und von Falmouth/ Flushing aus die diversen Orte angefahren sind. Man muss bis Lizard Point,Bodmin Moor oder Land End schon mit einer Stunde Fahrzeit rechnen.(oder länger) Hat uns aber nicht gestört und wir haben einfach die Zeit in diesem Cottage sehr genossen.

Flushing is a no through-road village on the south facing bank of the Falmouth river overlooking the southern end of the Carrick Roads and St Mawes. It is served by 2 pubs, one local and one modern, a fine restaurant on the Quay overlooking Falmouth Harbour and a local village shop. The village beach is dog friendly throughout the year which is very unusual in Cornwall. The close village of Mylor Bridge about 1.5 miles away has a shop, butcher, newsagent and fish shop. The latter supplying fresh fish from Falmouth bay and mussels, oysters and scallops harvested by the local sailing work boats which can be seen in the Falmouth estuary every day. Local ferry services give access to Falmouth town with a good selection of shops and the National Maritime museum and to Truro for city services and St Mawes and the Roseland peninsular.Great local walks from the house. The Tate gallery at St Ives, The Eden Project and many formal gardens such as Heligan areshort drive away
