About this property

1855 Wash house conversion to inner city Cottage studio

The 1855 Wash House provides stylish rustic accomodation as a studio cottage and is located within a minutes walk from Skipton High Street. While it retains its original features including a York stone flagged floor throughout and open trussed roof, it is kept warm and cosy with a gas central heating system and fantastic original cast iron radiators. The studio is on one level apart from one step down into the kitchen. It has been decorated in a thoughtful and quirky way to ensure guests enjoy a unique holiday experience. There is a large , comfortable, rustic King size bed.The property has a small but beautiful Elfin kitchen, a thermostatic shower, music system with aux cable, free wifi, smart tv and remote controlled velux blinds. Ther studio is located at the rear of a Victorian terrace and is situated within the owners award winning garden. There is a flagged area for guests with sheltered seating for 2 and a small dining table with 2 chairs. There is a permit parking space provided at the front of the cottage. I only take bookings for a maximum of 7 nights stay.

About the host

I have lived in Skipton for nearly 30 years and love the town and surrounding Dales. Having worked as a nurse and midwife I gave up the profession to raise our 3 boys William, Edward and George. In 2008 after a long planning struggle I opened the Victorian wash house which is situated in our back garden , as an antique shop. Having traded for 9 good years I decided it was time for a change. Recognising that people love to stay in the town I decided to convert the building into a holiday let.

Why they chose this property

The property is unique within the town centre as it is unusually large for a Victorian terrace wash house. It has had a varied social history since 1855 and exudes charm with its flagged floor and trussed roof. I have tried to enhance these features in a quirky traditional way while providing the modern home comforts

What makes this property unique

Its greatest benefit is its location right in the town centre in a mixed friendly terrace. As we live in the main property, we are on hand should you require us.
