Situated in the charming village of Peak forest, just outside the spa town of Buxton and within close proximity to Chatsworth, Castleton, Bakewell & Ladybower. This luxury accommodation is ideally located for visitors to enjoy everything the peak district has to offer.

The Gables is set in approximately 2 acres of landscaped gardens and in possession of a large patio area with an extra paddock, ideal for dog walking.

On the ground floor, it offers a farmhouse style kitchen and adjoining utility room with a feature stone fireplace, a wood burning stove and two spacious sitting rooms with open fires.

It also comprises of a large dining room, alongside an open fire.

Upstairs accomodates a master bedroom, complete with a four poster bed, balcony and en-suite wet room plus 4 other large bedrooms, each allowing for 3 people to sleep. There are also two large family bathrooms including a sauna and Jacuzzi.

Downstairs, The Gables also provides a seperate television/reception room, making it ideal for children, with a further sixth bedroom to accomodate 3 people to sleep.

There is excellent walking and outdoor pursuits including cycling and climbing close by, with rugged peaks to the north, gentle hills and dales to the south and Millers Dale.

Great family get together in a great house

The house was very spacious, clean and well equipped, lovely area, loads to do for kids and adults, plenty of great walks and lovely villages nearby. The kids loved the grounds and the park opposite, and both kids and adults loved the games room, we had a great stay hopefully will come back again.

Great house and garden in beautiful surroundings

We hired the house for my husbands surprise 60th birthday. There was 10 adults and 3 children and 2 dogs we had an amazing weekend in the house making use of the barbecue a couple of times during the weekend, so many lovely places to visit and see in the surrounding areas. The house itself was very well looked after, the beds were comfortable and clean, the children had an amazing time in the beautiful garden. The weather was also amazing all weekend. The owner Simon made us welcome on arrival and on checking out of the property.highly recommend this house for a large family get together.

Overall excellent, with just a few minor niggles

Due to space limitations here, gonna restrict to the non-obvious:

Easy to overshoot turning onto Damside Lane.

WiFi poor to unusable. No EE or Vodafone signal. Sky old (non-HD).

No toilet in Master bedroom en-suite.

Downstairs loo can lock you in.

Dogs restricted to downstairs.

£20 deposit on billiard balls.

Limited casual table space in lounges, so glasses end up on floor.

Owner's Response: The wifi was working on Thursday evening when the property was handed over, on the Monday morning we notices there was no broadband to which we contacted BT and had it rectified by 5pm for new guests arriving. Due to thick walls in The Gables this limits signal slightly. £20.00 deposit on billiard balls and darts, this is fully returnable if everything is returned as left.

A real home from home

We were well received by owner, Simon. We couldn't have wanted any better for our Family Birthday Celebration Weekend. The house was easy to travel to from North and South and 11 Adults and 5 children were easily accommodated in this splendid and extensive property. It had all that we needed and more. For us, the real winner was being able to get everybody round the large dining table in comfort, which we comfortably did. It was made even more pleasurable with using outside caterers. For the day time there is so much on the doorstep. We went to Poole Cavern and Buxton Country Park where there was a great restaurant and walks for all abilities including a romp up to Solomon's Temple. The weather was dry and cold but this would be an ideal place to visit if it is raining. We all had an excellent Sunday Roast across the road at the Devonshire Arms where we were easily accommodated and well looked after by Dianne. If the occasion arises we will certainly return.

Brilliant place for a family holiday

We had a brilliant time at The Gables, the house was perfect for our family get together. Something for everyone, great games room for kids, beautiful clean spacious rooms for all us adults and had fun in the amazing gardens when the weather allowed us! Lovely villages and towns close by to visit, we will definitely be back.
