About this property

4 Bedroom 3 Shower room House in 2 acres with POOL- ideal 2 families

The property is situated in a semi-rural position although only a 5 minute drive from Cisternino town centre. The property is approached via a long private drive from the road between two houses and the house itself sits on a 2 acre rectangular plot, it is located to the far corner of the rectangular plot. The surrounding land is mainly Olive trees and other fruit trees. The driveway is lined with pink Oleander bushes which leads directly to the house, where there is an area suitable for parking 2 or 3 cars.

The house itself is a stone farmhouse which we bought about 19 years ago and have only rented out for the last few years and even then only for a few weeks as we or our family use it during the summer. When we bought the house half of the house had been refurbished and we then refurbished the left hand side and put in the pool. There is a large paved area between the house and the swimming pool and a gazebo and seating area under shade There is a "lamia" ( storage building ) facing the house where we have an additional fridge and to store your suitcases and also the cushions etc for the pool area.

In the right hand side of the house is the main kitchen on the first floor with a gas oven and breakfast area , a first floor lounge, one first floor double bedroom with a new refurbished (2020 ) shower room en suite and a ground floor smaller double bedroom with another en suite shower room and a dressing room.

By closing a door this part of the house could be used by 1 family ( or couple ) and another family ( or couple ) could use the left hand side ( all on ground floor level ) On the left hand side of the house is the main lounge where there is a small breakfast work area with 2 fridges, toaster, ice-maker, coffee machine, cutlery and plates and shelves for food supplies. This makes it easier to eat outside and carry out plates etc to the outside dining area.

Outside under the gazebo there is an outside kitchen area suitable for preparing light meals there is a sink but cold water supply only. A 4 ring gas hob which we use all the time - we bring out kitchen equipment from the living room to enjoy outdoor cooking.
There is outside lighting around the surround and pool and in the gazebo area. We never really use the first floor kitchen save for the oven and then we bring the food outside

We think the house is suitable for 6 people maximum. Due to different levels of floors inside and outside the house please take extra care of small children.

There are hairdyers, an electric fan in each room,a washing machine, gas central heating ( we have never used it !) There is no air - con.

LOCATION

Three is the magic number, so they say, and nowhere is this truer than in the Valle d'Itria with its trio of enchanting, historic towns: Martina Franca, Locorotondo and Cisternino.

Like its sisters, Cisternino, boasts a small, utterly charming old town centre that has remained virtually intact for centuries. Its whitewashed houses, narrow, shady streets, historic churches and elegant central piazza open out onto a series of panoramic view points from which visitors can take in the surrounding countryside, with its rolling hills, dry stone walls and white-tipped conical trulli roofs piercing the green fields.
There is a great choice of restaurants and it is literally a 5 minute car ride to a free car park and a short ( but steep) walk up into town.It is absolutely charming. Within a very short car journey are also fantastic places to visit in the evening for food including Martina Franca, Ceglia Messapica, Locoratondo and Ostuni

The streets of Cisternino are home to some buildings of considerable architectural interest, including the 13th century Norman-Swabian tower, topped with a little statue of San Nicola, the 14th century Church of San Nicola with its 18th century facade and 6th century foundations, the curvaceous baroque Church of San Cataldo and tower-flanked Palazzo Amati.

In August, Cisternino celebrates the summer with a series of festivals, including the processions for the Festa di San Quirico, one of the town's patron saints, and a couple of food festivals, or sagre, one dedicated to orecchiette (Puglia's signature ear-shaped pasta), the other to rabbit! Then in September, the town turns its attention to the grape harvest, which is toasted with yet another party!

One of our other great assets is Pietro who looks after our house for us - he will meet n greet and offer you local knowledge beyond belief ! He was born in Cisternino speaks perfect English and we have known him since we purchased the house- He is on hand to resolve any issue you may have...................................

Wonderful Villa, Wonderful Location…
5 Stars from us! Excellent communication from the owners from the start. Pietro on the ground in Cisternino was great and couldn’t do more for us. The Villa was perfect, equipped with everything we needed and finished to a high standard. Tucked away and very peaceful!

More than it looks like!!!
We spent 2 weeks just outside Cisternino in the most beautiful house!! We thought the pictures in the site looked great, but it was nothing compared to real life!! This house is absolutely gorgeous!! The styling and decoration is amazing. From towels to bedlinen to plates and small furniture; everything is kept in beautiful shades. No doubt the owners have put a lot of thought into renovation and styling of this hidden gem. The house was super clean and spacious. Divided into 2 sections the house worked perfectly for 6 people. The outside gazebo and pool area was fantastic!! Absolutely everything was lovely – upon arrival we were met by Pietro who was very attentive and helpful. Grocery shopping in the nearby supermarket was easy and the small town of Cisternino is very charming with nice restaurants and small shops. We couldn’t have asked for more! Everything was just perfect! We would definitely like to go back!

Beautiful tranquil villa
We had a wonderful time staying at this beautifully decorated villa in the countryside. The location was perfect for visiting the surrounding area, with Cisterino being just a short five minute drive. Prieto the property manager was awesome at explaining the house and was always available by text to recommend a local restaurant. He truly knew the best spots. The owner Stewart was also attentive in making sure we enjoyed our stay. Besides visiting several nearby towns such as Ostuni & Aberobello. We also enjoyed visiting the local grocery and a fish market down by the coast. The best of the local produce led to breakfasts and a few late lunches by the pool, wonderful meals prepared by the whole family. The house does not have AC which we knew from the listing, but as we arrived during an August heatwave we were somewhat concerned, however once you open up the doors and turn on the fans the house will reach a comfortable temperature rather quickly and at night we slept Al fresco with our doors open and shielded by romantic over the beds netting. The only recommendation we have to the property owner is it would be nice to have Wifi. I needed to check in with my office for about an hour a day and usually if there is no wifi then I will hot spot on my phone, however we often had weak or spotty cell reception. But overall the stay was wonderful and we would love to return again.

We live in the south of England and have owned the house since 2006 making improvements over the years including putting in the pool, outside kitchen/seating area etc We absolutely love the laid back, quaintness of this area - no nightclubs etc but plenty of restaurants in Cisternino itself and the surrounding area. We have only let the house out over the last 3 years and only then for a few weeks in the summer. We have a fantastic local property manager who was born in Cisternino and who speaks perfect english.

Why they chose this property

What makes this property unique

Here is a review from one of our friends that stayed in June 2023 What follows is various tips that you might already be familiar with but which you are very welcome to 'cut and paste' for the benefit of other first time visitors to No.85. Cisternino Restaurants: stand out eating experience was Il Cucco, just around the corner from the now closed ( permanently?!) Terra Madre. Try their very good value 6 course Tasting Menu, which includes a choice of desserts. Very nice staff, too. Osteria Sant'Anna. Right opposite one of Cisternino's best kept secrets - the railway station! A very honourable mention should go to DoppioZero. Delicious starters, wonderful pizzas and Chirico Bistrot, with a nice outside area offers a compact but very tasty menu. Friendly staff, too. The surrounding towns - Ostuni, Locorotondo, Alberobello and Martina Franca (referred in short-hand by us as Franco Manca!) were all worth exploring and offered interesting and non-strenuous walks amongst their ancient streets. Ceglie Messapica. A delightful compact town with plenty of history and beautiful squares. Just off one of the main squares is Osteria Pugliese, a no-nonsense simple trattoria with a lot of the locals tucking into the simple but tasty local fare. Very good value and friendly staff. Matera: whilst a 90 mins drive away, it is well worth a visit. Almond Pasticceria Artigianale, Cisternino Just 2kms from the house is this little oasis of home-made cakes and filled focaccias with the inevitable hissing high end coffee machine. With a lovely, shady and extensive outdoor eating area, i - 7am to midnight - Tuesday to Sundays. Lovely staff. And, whisper it quietly, a good wifi connection if you suddenly find yourself cut off from the outside world back at the house!
