About this property

Cae Eithin Cottage, Colwyn Bay, N. Wales (sleeps 8)

This cottage is a quaint step back in time; the perfect place for a quiet retreat in the Welsh countryside, family adventures at the seaside, or simply an escape away with friends. The footings of Cae Eithin date back to the 1700s when it was a farm. Since then it has been restored and the current owners have spent from 2015-2017 undergoing a complete renovation project, both exterior and interior. You can therefore expect tasteful, clean decor; whilst the property retains its antique character, with a modern touch. Although secretly tucked away in the trees, the cottage is spacious and bright and has a neutral colour scheme throughout.

It can accommodate 8 guests in total. Up the wooden staircase you will find 4 bedrooms: 2 king size bedrooms (front) and 1 double & 1 twin (rear). The property also features 2 bathrooms (1 upstairs and 1 on the ground floor), both with quality shower and toilet facilities. New, plush carpets throughout the upper level with a fanciful mix of wooden flooring and feature tiling on the ground floor.

Other highlights of this delightful home are relaxing with a good read and a cup of tea in the downstairs snug (a good selection of books and games provided!), putting your culinary skills to the test in the newly fitted kitchen (complete with dishwasher and washing machine), playing games and sharing stories around the table in the lounge/dining room or simply admiring the distant sea views on a hazy summer afternoon.

The cottage is set in a naturally woody area, surrounded by tall trees and flowering plants. Located on a lane, it is a place of respite from the hustle of nearby tourist towns. Nature thrives in abundance in the garden due to its naturally kept environment. Owls, foxes, hedgehogs, badgers and birds of all types call the surrounding area their home. There is also a large woodpile in the garden used to fuel the log burner.

Other facilities: Ironing board, fully equipped kitchen, T.V. with Freeview and DVD player, towels/bedding/sheets provided, off road parking for 2 vehicles, welcome pack with local Welsh produce, information pack for surrounding area.

(Due to the age of the building, we regret that this property is not wheelchair accessible)

Note: the owners live in the property next door, meaning they are on hand 24/7 for assistance with check in and ensuring your comfort. It is our priority that each party has the most enjoyable stay and we are therefore able to cater to your individual needs and preferences, whilst maintaining a respectable distance for mutual privacy.

This property is perfect for those who are looking for something different to the usual seaside hotel and with more elegance and privacy than a B&B. Full of personal touches, designed for comfort and delight, Cae Eithin offers a haven of tranquility and peace. Come and fall in love with the beauty and enchantment of North Wales and make this secret gem your home away from home.

Home away from home !
Cae Within is a beautiful cottage just 10 minutes walk from Colwyn Bay,and 2 mins from the A55 , close enough for town but still felt like it was out in the countryside, and only 30 mins to Snowdon. The cottage is really cosy and beautifully done up. Love the little finishing touches in the bathroom such as conditioner and make up remover, and appreciated the pantry bits and pieces. The hamper was lovely and managed to devour it all ! The beds were super comfy and slept very well. The only thing that I could say was that we had to sing when we were in the bathroom as no locks on the doors, but this wasn't a problem :) Pete and Sue were very friendly but not at all intrusive ,being next door meant that we had a loan of their lovely casserole dish..thanks for that :) And thank you Pete for recommending the Honey Fayre to us. We had a fabulous morning there. The town of Conwy is so interesting and very pretty. I must say a big thank you to them for accommodating our needs. Would thoroughly recommend Cae Ewithin for a base to stay in Snowdonia.

We have been married for 25 years and have lived in various parts of North Wales all our lives. In this time we have had 2 daughters, Grace and Maddy, (now in their twenties) and many border collie dogs! We have travelled as a family to many parts of the world, but still believe that this little part of the U.K. holds particular beauty and charm. We enjoy walking in the Snowdonia mountains and lakes, enjoying the views and scenery of the coastal spots and eating in various local restaurants and cafes.
