Villa Suro's location and design makes for a perfect base for family holidays in order to relax in the peace and tranquility around the villa/pool/BBQ/garden or embrace the delights offered in the local area. It is a substantial spacious building which has undergone significant modernization in recent years and offers modern fittings and fitments throughout the interior, including a very well equipped kitchen, dining area and bathrooms.

The open plan living areas are air conditioned.

The property benefits from a fully monitored 24/7 burglar alarm system serviced by Securitas SA and covers all floors and entrances supported high security locks.

The swimming pool area is gated and safe for small children. It has corner roman steps entry to a depth of 1 metre and graduates to a depth of 2 metres at the other end of the pool. The pool is surrounded by ample patio areas with numerous sunbeds, tables and chairs. There is also a BBQ and bench at the rear of one of the patios. The whole area has maintained gardens and attractive plants to compliment the pool area,

The garden is spacious with various areas to sit and sunbathe or read a book in one of the many shaded areas. There is a large secure car park area situated in the rear garden which is entered from the rear lane of the property.

There is ample lighting in most of the garden pool area to support evenings outside.

There is a WOW factor to the villa in the form of the exceptional and spacious roof terrace to relax and experience the 360 degree surrounding sea/forest views.

There is a further outdoor terrace/balcony accessed from the first floor open plan area, which can be used for dining.

The property has high speed WIFI (50+Mb's ps), stylish bathrooms and fully fitted kitchen with Miele Oven, Bosch dishwasher, large family sized Bosch fridge/freezer and washing machine. There are interior and exterior dining areas and four good size bedrooms.

The 850 sq metre secure garden has a BBQ area, a swimming pool, patio areas and trees which give ample shaded areas during summer months and lots of space for children to play or adults to find a quiet corner to sunbathe or read a book.

Situated just 4 kms from nearest beach, close to the many beautiful sandy beaches within 30 minutes drive in this beautiful area, very close to Palamos with its wonderful fish restaurants and tapas bar and just 120kms from fabulous Barcelona and yet situated in a beautiful 'away from it all' semi rural location where butterflies abound and birds sing all day.

In order to fulfill our legal obligations our holiday home is registered and inspected by the Touristic Office of Catalunya for officially renting to holiday makers, Licence number HUTG3099.

Why Richard Perry chose Calonge

My wifes sister moved to this area of Spain 40 years ago, married a Catalan and lived in the area ever since.We have always been interested in travel both in the UK and Europe during our vacation period from work.We found our passion continued to draw us back to Italy and Spain but eventually this area of Catalunya.It is rich in natural beauty,culture and cuisine both inland and on the coast.We enjoy both the snorkelling and beach life on offer and the exceptional countryside walks,drives and cycle tracks. The whole area is about the great outdoors and memorable family holidays in quality surroundings..

What makes this villa unique

When we decided to purchase a property in the area we realised the importance of location with views. So many properties were sunk on hillsides or with gardens so steep that it would be dangerous for our children. When we saw Villa Suro it was an obvious choice. Situated on a level elevated position with fantastic views to the sea and wooded hills. A good sized level garden providing an safe environment for all in a beautiful semi rural location which is both peaceful and relaxing. The jewel in the crown was the good sized roof tower/ terrace which affords fantastic uninterrupted views of the vine yards,countryside and sea! The villa itself has been subject of a complete refurbishment since our purchase with fully upgraded kitchen,bathrooms,double glazing,air conditioning to the living areas and swimming pool patios and garden areas. In the kitchen we have a large Bosch fridge/freezer,dishwasher and all facilities to ensure ease whilst dining 'at home'. The garden also has a good sized BBQ area.A Wifi internet connection is maintained year round which completes the picture on making our holiday home a comfortable place to stay.

  • Both bathrooms benefit from a complete recent refurbishment .All plumbing, electrics,ceramics, fixtures and fittings were replaced at this time with quality new bathroom ware fitted throughout. Both bathrooms are serviced by a large new electric hot water tank which supplies adequate amounts of hot water. On the first floor is a bath and shower over,toilet, quality wall and floor tiles, the bath has a powerful shower attachment fitted over. There is also a stylish sink and taps, mirror ,wall lighting and toilet. This bathroom serves the upper floor/living area but serves the first floor bedroom as an en suite at night and mornings. On the ground floor is a large wet room all newly fitted out with quality tiles(as displayed in photograph)with powerful large shower area, quality new sink,taps and toilet. Both rooms have tilt and turn windows fitted to assist with airflow, both of which have roller mosquito blinds fitted as an integral part of double glazing frames.

  • There are a total of 4 good size bedrooms. One is situated on the first floor and is serviced by a full bathroom. This room is accessed from the lounge/dining area. The other bedrooms are situated on the ground floor. The bedrooms naturally caters for 9 persons however three of the ground floor bedrooms are large enough to house a cot in addition to the normal beds and one of these has sufficient room for a double bed and a single bed/cot as required. This can be arranged with owner prior to arrival at additional cost.The ground floor bedrooms remain cool in summer and are serviced by a bathroom/wet room which has a powerful shower area w/c and sink. The whole villa has recently had quality aluminium double glazing fitted throughout with 'tilt and turn' fixings to most windows. All bedroom/bathroom windows are fitted with roller mosquito blinds as an integral part of the double glazing frames. Single bedded rooms can be arranged with beds together or apart.

The villa has a 850sq metre secure garden.The kitchen is modern and spacious with solid granite worktops, ample fitted units,large bosch family fridge/freezer,dishwasher and wonderful proportions to cook and dine.There is a choice of the first floor balcony, a roof terrace, garden patio or lounge /dining area in which to dine or relax.There is an 8 x 4 metre swimming pool and spacious surrounding sun patio which is private from the road.The pool is 1 metre depth at the shallow end and deepens to 2 metres .All within 10 minutes drive there is a plethora of coves and beaches or beautiful countryside and walks.Fine cuisine is also available in any of the restaurants/ tapas bars in the surrounding towns and villages.A little further afield is the old city of Girona(30 mins) or Barcelona (60 miles).Also featuring high on the local itinery is a visit to the Salvador Dali Teatre-Museu at Figeres, & Dali,s home at Port Ligat or Castell de Pubol at La Pera. Price incl cleaning, a/c and linen.

An excellent place to stay

Our family, aged 2 to 70, came for a big birthday celebration and found villa Suro fitted our needs perfectly.

The interior is clean, spacious and very well appointed. We also made the most of the different outdoor spaces, from the 360 degree view from the roof to the lovely well maintained swimming pool.

The area has much of interest including lovely beaches not too far away.

Richard was always on hand by email or phone, and was very helpful. He and Mary provided much useful information on the area, which is just what you need when you are visiting somewhere for only one week.

We would love to return one day!

PS This is the first review we have posted on somewhere we have stayed - a measure of our complete satisfaction.

Relaxed family holiday

What a great place, we loved the house with all the wonderfully different outdoor spaces we made use of them most mealtimes and evenings. The house was comfortably furnished and well equipped with everything necessary for cooking all the lovely seafood available locally. The pool was a great hit with the children and the sea views from the balconies we're the adults favourite.

Lots to see and do locally, good food shops and markets and lovely local beaches made this a very enjoyable holiday.

We were very impressed by Richard's friendly and helpful emails and phone calls. Everything was well organised and extremely informative, with photos, instructions and recommendations that enabled us to feel at home straightaway.

Lovely villa in a good location

Stayed here for a week which wasn't long enough to relax and fully appreciate the area. The villa itself is great suiting our requirements for dual occupancy having the in-law in tow.

villa suro calonge costa bravo

Having been able to take my 2 year old grandson on holiday after he had been in isolation after BMT .! A perfect respite for my wife,my daughter,son-law and our 4 granddaughters. A perfect home from home with sun and extras.Close to the beach! plus a little bit of education Barcelona and DHALI. Very special and a pool he has learned to swim in, could not have hoped for more.

Lovely Villa

Just returned from a fabulous week in this lovely villa. Very well equipped and clean. Safe gated pool area - we had 4 adults, 1 teenager and 4 children ranging in age from 16 months to 6 years - all of whom enjoyed the pool. The view at breakfast from the roof top patio was particularly pleasant.

There was lots to do in the area and exploring was helped by the very useful guide provided by the owners - thanks Richard and Mary.

This villa sits on a slightly elevated level plot which affords outstanding views of the sea, olive groves and forested hills. The villa has a WOW factor in the form of an unusual roof tower which gives access to a large roof terrace where a 360 degree view can be enjoyed of the local area including the sea and mountains. This is an area to enjoy all aspects of the great outdoors.

The immediate area around the villa has a quiet rustic feel and is a 10 minute short walk from the medieval village of Calonge.

Situated in a quiet semi rural location on the edge of a small urbanization which is in an area of outstanding cultural and natural beauty with a mix between the Catalan countryside and natural coves and beaches. A large selection of beaches can be reached between 10 and 20 minutes drive.

The nearest beach is Sant Antoni which is 4kms or 10 minutes drive. The beach is wide and sandy and there is a level beach front promenade to walk around the bay to Palamos. There are beach front restaurants here and beach activities and a few chiringuitos (restaurant/bars) to take refreshment.

There are also unspoilt medieval villages of Pals, Pertallada and Monells close by. A huge range of restaurants, a few in walking distance but most a short drive away to experience the Catalan gastronomic delights and freshly caught fish from Palamos (10 mins by car).

Palamos is excellent for good quality seafood restaurants and is always a great choice for an evening walk around the old town touring the various tapas bars on offer, particularly on friday and saturday evenings. The beaches around Palamos bay are large and sandy and offer safe bathing particularly for children. La Fosca is the nearest beautiful beach and a little further is Calella de Palafrugell and Tamariu are

There is a vast network of 370kms country and coastal paths for the walkers and both road and mountain trail cyclists in the area which are interspersed with exceptional views and villages along each route. The Dali Triangle sits close by.

Barcelona and all it has to offer in the form of Gaudi, The Ramblas and the Port, is just over an hours drive away at 110kms.

Other local activities include paint-balling and water park which are within 10 minutes drive and an Adventure Park at Playa D'Aro .

If you like visiting a busy chic place then Playa D'Aro is for you particularly on weekends when Barcelonians visit to visit the numerous shops, restaurants and beach. It really does get busy. There is a permanent fair ground here for the children at the far end of the main street and a complex beyond with 10 pin bowling and a cinema.

There are numerous golf courses in the area including the excellent PGA Catalunya Resort, Golf Platja de Pals and Emporda Golf, all within 30 minutes drive. The local golf club at Mas Nou D,Aro golf is 15 minutes drive.

Winter activities: The rugged Pyrenees mountains are 1.5 to 2.5 hours drive and is attracting more skiers each year, during the winter months. Baqueira-Beret in the Val d,Aran is one of Spains best ski resorts. Other popular activities around the Pyrenees include mountain climbing ,white water rafting and trekking.

The cost implications for ski passes are significantly cheaper than the Alps and other mountain ski slopes situated in the near continent of Europe.

The principality of Andorra which sits between Catalonia and France is one and a half hours drive away and offers further skiing opportunities and breathtaking scenery. Here you can also experience a dip in the mineral waters at the Caldea Spa complex or a drive across the spectacular Port d, Envalira pass,which is the highest in the Pyrenees.

There is also good boar hunting and fishing that takes place throughout the rural areas.

The choices of your chosen activity or more relaxing pursuits are numerous throughout the area!
