Why they chose this property
Welcome to La Verina 2018
La Verina is a charming 18th century villa situated in the heart of rural Tuscany. Located on the border of the Provinces of Pisa and Firenze the house rests on a plateau overlooking olive groves and farmland with far-reaching views towards the coastline of Livorno.
A secluded property resting amidst ancient Tuscan forests, La Verina’s closest neighbours are the natural flora and fauna surrounding the property. We hope that you enjoy your time at La Verina and that the very special atmosphere of the house leaves you both refreshed and relaxed.
The Villa
Originally built by a mining corporation from the South West of England, La Verina served as a base for the workers of the copper mine located a km away, below the house you can still see a good deal of interesting architectural archaeology including the original chimney of the copper cleaning house.
After WWII the house became abandoned and fell into disrepair. Thankfully in the 1980’s it was purchased by its current owners and the villa, cottage and mill all sympathetically restored over time. For the last twenty years the main villa has enjoyed welcoming guests from all over the world and continues to host families and friends who come together in one of the most beautiful spots in Tuscany.
Throughout the property you will find original pieces of unique art including junk-art, resting comfortably alongside Italian antiques, artisan and Arabic designs which are part of the owner’s private collection of contemporary art.
