My family loved this cottage.
I booked Saddlery Cottage for my family (2 adults, 3 children) as we couldn't accommodate them in our flat. It was ideal - just 5 minutes away from us.Everyone really liked staying somewhere with so much character. The cottage was comfortable and spacious, and the children made good use of the huge garden. It was wonderful to be able to have meals outside too. We all appreciated Claire and Donald's kindness - they gave us a great holiday.

Weekend break with friends from the US
Wanted to bring our friends to Scotland and found this cottage. It was just perfect. Clare and Donald were perfect hosts and the cottage had everything we could need and more. Lovely surroundings and handy for Melrose and took the train from nearby Tweedbank into Edinburgh. Would definitely go back again and highly recommend it.

About the host

I have owned a operated Harleyburn cottages (Stables and The Saddlery) since 2000. We aim to provide a very high standard of self-catering accommodation for our guests to enjoy this beautiful and very special part of Scotland.

Why they chose this property

Saddlery cottage is a stunning property sitting in two acres of idyllic landscaped gardens. It is a traditional stone built cottage dating from 1860 which has been modernised an equipped to a very high standard.

The cottage is only a short distance from the centre of the lovely town of Melrose with its wide range of high quality, shops, restaurants and bistros.

The cottage offers the best of both worlds enjoying a very private south-facing location looking over our gardens to the Eildon Hills but is within very easy reach of a wide range of local tourist attractions and services.

Tweedbank station and The Borders railway is less that 1 mile away and provides direct and frequent train access to central Edinburgh with all its attractions.

What makes this property unique

A setting that is second to none. Close to Melrose which can easily be reached on foot but totally private and secluded. Beautifully equipped and furnished to provide guests with a luxurious self-catering experience.
