Guestbook comments from the owner

We need another week! Such a lovely village and home. Many happy hours spent wandering up the track behind looking at the stunning Karst scenery, the flowers and tracking all the migrant birds coming through during our week stay, nightingales, swift, sardinian warbler and Suprisingly 2 ring ouzel. Visited Grazalema several times and Zahra lovely too and many visits to the bars. Treated ourselves to a terrace " cliff edge " meal in Ronda too. Thanks ! Would love to come back.

Worth every step for the views

  • 5 of 5

I would comment that you need a certain level of fitness to enjoy this house and village. Montejaque is steep and the house is on 4 floors. However we came here for the walking and the mountains so we we're not disappointed by this! This house is worth it for the roof terrace alone, simply wonderful views. The rest of the house was clean and we were well provided for, especially appreciated the walking guides which we made good use of. Thoroughly recommend this property and montejaque as a place to visit, we'll be back!

Owner's Response: Hello Henrietta. Thank you for your review. We appreciate this. Can I clarify - may be a typing error, regarding 4 floors ? we have bottom floor, middle and terrace making this 3. As you say you came for the walking and we are pleased you were able to make use of the information on offer. It is such a wonderfull area and the views from the terrace are great, we hope some day you will return to Casa Olive Grove. regards Jan and Alan

Very attractive cottage with good range of facilities. The highlight for us was the roof terrace.

  • 4 of 5

The cottage was very attractively furnished and well-designed. We appreciated the bedrooms on the ground floor which were in the coolest part of the cottage. You do have to be able to climb stairs as this is a 3 storey building! There were fine views from the roof terrace and it was a beautiful spot after the sun went down. The cottage is in one of the narrow pedestrian-only streets in the village. The village itself is steep and the trip to and from the car park from the cottage was a bit of a haul in the heat of the day. The main square was relatively close to the cottage although another steep climb in places! A real benefit of the village from our point of view was the absence of tourist shops. The village relies on tourists but they have not swamped its character.

Owner's Response: Hi David. Thank you for your review. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay. Having been here in Montejaque for many years we have seen little change so we are very lucky that the village has still held its Spanish charm. As you say it is a three storey house however we changed the structure to accommadate the kitchen closest to the terrace and the idea of the bedrooms being cool, yet cosy in the winter months. We hope your visit was enjoyable overall to welcome you back in the future. kind regards Jan and Alan

Lovely Montejaque

  • 5 of 5

Lovely clean and well equipped traditional Spanish house in a great position overlooking Montejaque and surrounding mountains. Friendly village with plenty of useful shops, bars and places to eat. We have two teenage children who enjoyed the holiday too, especially the nearby picturesque town of Ronda. Can't rate the house, village and stunning Grazelema Natural Park highly enough - We're looking forward to returning as soon as we can.

Wonderful place

  • 5 of 5

We fell in love with the village of Montejaque. It is small, but not too small, is picturesque, is a good starting point for hikes or small trips, and, best of all, doesn't seem to have been "discovered", ie, is not inundated by hordes of tourists. Casa Olive Grove provided a wonderful place for us to stay to enjoy this village and surrounding area. We enjoyed the roof terrace every chance we had and saw ibex on the hills from that perch. We would all happily return....

Excellent

  • 5 of 5

We've had a very pleasant holiday in this lovely house in the very charming village of Montejaque. A pretty view from the roof-terras and cool nights in a comfortable bed. The kitchen is fully equiped, but the restaurants and tapas were tempting all week. Try la Casita in the village and you will not be disappointed!

It was amazing how many flowers we saw, orchids we’ve never seen, vultures in large amounts, hundreds of swallows frolicking in the sky!

I’m lycrical about it.

We enjoyed our walks a lot: we did Mr. Henderson’s trail (back and forth) and had tapas in Bar Allioli. We made some circulair walks, in the surroundings of Montejaque. Walks in which it was every time a surprise where the goat-paths would lead us to. But we’ve found our way, and a bit of tresspassing isn’t a crime in Spain we’ve noticed.

Grazalema and Zahara are also very nice places to be, but Montejaque we’ve experienced as more authentic and less touristic.

We look back at a very pleasant time in Andalucia. Thanks for having us in your house!

Peaceful haven

Enjoyed our stay in this lovely village. The house was so quiet we often slept longer than planned. Had some great walks from the village including to Ronda. Hope to return to Montejaque soon

Historic Ronda Andalucia. ....Many other places to visit Granada, Cordobo, Sevilla, Malaga, Jerez, Gibralter.

The house which has been fully refurbished to a high standard is in a Tranquil setting in a whitewashed Spanish mountain pueblo set in the Parque Natural Sierra de Grazalema. A wonderful base for sightseeing, walking, cycling, climbing, bird watching, romantic break or just relaxing to get away from the ones humdrum life. Ronda retains much of its historic charm Moorish architecture famous for its dramatic escarpments and views over the Serrania de Ronda mountains the rio Guadalevin flows through the dramatic El Tajo gorge straddling this is the famous Puente Nuevo bridge which brings together the old and new town. Ronda only ten minutes away. Ronda has lots of typical tapas bars and good eateries whether it be, Spanish, Chinese or pizza .

Montejaque is also known for having Griffin vulters as well as Bonellis Eagles around the mountain range at the back of the village

Other Activities: ornithology, caving, rock climbing, adventure sports, walking, cycling sighseeing.
