Lovely Montejaque

  • 5 of 5

Lovely clean and well equipped traditional Spanish house in a great position overlooking Montejaque and surrounding mountains. Friendly village with plenty of useful shops, bars and places to eat. We have two teenage children who enjoyed the holiday too, especially the nearby picturesque town of Ronda. Can't rate the house, village and stunning Grazelema Natural Park highly enough - We're looking forward to returning as soon as we can.

Wonderful place

  • 5 of 5

We fell in love with the village of Montejaque. It is small, but not too small, is picturesque, is a good starting point for hikes or small trips, and, best of all, doesn't seem to have been "discovered", ie, is not inundated by hordes of tourists. Casa Olive Grove provided a wonderful place for us to stay to enjoy this village and surrounding area. We enjoyed the roof terrace every chance we had and saw ibex on the hills from that perch. We would all happily return....

Excellent

We've had a very pleasant holiday in this lovely house in the very charming village of Montejaque. A pretty view from the roof-terras and cool nights in a comfortable bed. The kitchen is fully equiped, but the restaurants and tapas were tempting all week. Try la Casita in the village and you will not be disappointed!

It was amazing how many flowers we saw, orchids we’ve never seen, vultures in large amounts, hundreds of swallows frolicking in the sky!

I’m lycrical about it.

We enjoyed our walks a lot: we did Mr. Henderson’s trail (back and forth) and had tapas in Bar Allioli. We made some circulair walks, in the surroundings of Montejaque. Walks in which it was every time a surprise where the goat-paths would lead us to. But we’ve found our way, and a bit of tresspassing isn’t a crime in Spain we’ve noticed.

Grazalema and Zahara are also very nice places to be, but Montejaque we’ve experienced as more authentic and less touristic.

We look back at a very pleasant time in Andalucia. Thanks for having us in your house!

Enjoyed our stay in this lovely village. The house was so quiet we often slept longer than planned. Had some great walks from the village including to Ronda. Hope to return to Montejaque soon

Lovely toddler-friendly break

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely week in Montejaque with our 2 year-old daughter. We have travelled extensively in Andalucia and this was by far the most authentic Spanish village we have stayed in. The local people are extrelyme friendly (on our daily trip to the bakery the baker gave the little one a free bread roll, and the bar owners were very wecoming when we took her with us for an early evening drink). There is also a little play park behind the village wash house.

We had day trips to Cadiz and Jerez, and Ronda is near enough to pop along to for lunch or a drink. The Patio restaurant in Montejaque does good, simple, food and is a great place to take the little one.

In May, the wild flowers were fantastic - meadows carpeted in blue, red and yellow. This is fabululous walking country and there are a number of walks right from the door.

If you are coming with a little one, another idea is to take a picnic up to the site of the old castle. The views are fantastic and our toddler stripped off and splashed about in the water trough at the top. Another idea is to go to Estacion Benaojan, have a splash about in the river (cross the train tracks and turn left along the river to a shallow area near a weir), followed by an ice cream in Molino del Santo (a very nice hotel in Estacion Benaojan which has a lovely garden to relax in).

We will definitely return. The views from the balcony of the house are fabulous!

Lovely Week in Andalucia

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at the Casa Olive Grove in April 2013 and were fortunate to experience a week of glorious weather with blue skies everyday.the village is an easy drive from Malaga airport in less than 2 hours but gets you into a completely different Spain to that of the coast.

The house was very comfortable and breakfast was taken on the rooftop terrace each morning with glorious views of the surrounding mountains.Very well furnished and equipped.

The village itself is very welcoming though the choice of eating out places is a bit limited but plenty of local bars for a cold beer after a day's walking. The hotel in the next village, Benaojan, was the best for eating out. We visited Ronda and Grazelema which were both picturesque

We walked almost every day with some excellent routes close by and some from the house itself.

An area to revisit in the future
