About Andree Falconer

Bilingual Francophile, TEFL teacher passionate about Provence, its history, culture, lifestyle, architecture, cuisine, agriculture, and natural beauty. The art de vivre en Provence is a fascination, and a pure joy to embrace. The Mediterranean lifestyle with its magical light, sounds, scents, colours, tastes and custom is quite simply....addictive! A delight to the senses and restorative; far from the stress and bustle of life at home, the rain, the overcast skies, the traffic jams, the cities, the pollution, and the crowd! So beware...once you have the bug, you will just have to keep coming back for more!

I grew up reading Marcel Pagnol and Jean Giono's emchanting tales of Provence long ago, and dreamt of this far away place with all its vibrant colours, sounds, people, their accents, their culture, their values, produce , heritage and way of life......I always knew I had to come and to be part of my beloved Luberon.

It is a privilege and a joy to share this passion for all that Provence has still to offer, and reveal, and I am always available, if not in person, on 07812113415 if you would like to ask me anything at all. Always very happy to be of help and to share fins, must-see, must-dos!

Always loved restoring old, character properties, creating beautiful gardens and peaceful environments in which to live the moment and feel well just happy to be alive!

Andree Falconer purchased this farmhouse in 1991

Why Andree Falconer chose Mérindol

Location, location, location!

Why this farmhouse in Provence?

Location, location, location!

Its idyllic setting on the southern flank of the majestic hills and mountains of the Luberon Natural Regional Park, looking across the fertile Durance valley (France's most prolific producer of fresh produce including melons, almonds, olives, soft fruits, vegetables of all sorts, cheeses, wine, honey, and soap).

Situated in the heart of the sought-after Provencal county of Vaucluse (“Vallée clausa” or “hidden valley”), you can stroll directly out from the farmhouse directly into the hills and mountains of the Luberon, through the forest, the valleys, the summits, the springs, and as you walk, the air fills with the unforgettable scents of rosemary, thyme and summer savoury and the vistas and topography are quite simply breathtakingly beautiful, as is the Provencal light.

Only 1 mile (2km) from the centre of an unspoilt, ancient village - Merindol - typical of the region, with all amenities and frequent al fresco street food, fetes, live music and a choice of restaurants, an olive oil mill, vineyard, wine shop and tapas bar and a neautiful arboretum that stretches up into the mountains and the Gorges de Regalon.

Also only a picturesque 10 minutes’ drive to 2 larger towns (Lauris and Mallemort) with supermarkets, cafes, restaurants m and 12 minutes to the most-photographed, historic and beautiful conservation village of Lourmarin, with its chateau and must-see Friday morning market. Or 15 mins to Charleval and the Roayaumes de sArbres (similar to Go Ape, with stunning zip slides and tree top routes). Also fabulous riding centre 15 mins near Pertuis. Take lessons or hack out through the vines and along the river bank.

Also only 35 minutes from vibrant, historic university cities of Aix en Provence and Avignon.

45 mins. Arles, the Camargues, St Remy , Les Baux, the Colorado Provencal, The Gorges du Verdon and the golden triangle of Bonnieux, Gordes, Goult, Lacoste, Menerb.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Prime location: South Luberon Natural Regional Park boasting a wealth of flora and fauna - a world heritage site and biosphere.

Views to the south across the Durance valley, the Mont St Victoire in Aix en Provence (Cezanne's mountain), and the Alpilles/St Remy as well as to the North into the Luberon mountains.

Exquisite pool and pool area with solar shower, poolside drinks fridge, wrought iron and Zellige Moroccan dining furniture in summer kitchen at the poolside for al fresco dining all year round.

Mature, spacious gardens, ample garden furniture, stone built bbq.6 toilets, 4 bathrooms/shower rooms.

wifi. sat tv. nearby tennis courts and swimming lake.

Daily Provencale markets in surrounding Luberon villages.

5 mins to La Verrerie vineyard or 10 mins to authentic ferme auberge with incomparable home cooking by local French farmer's wife - one of the oldest farms in the region.

I mile from centre of unspoilt, medieval Mediterranean village with all amenities, olive oil mills, restaurants, of historic Waldensian/Huguenots fame, ruined chateau, 10 min. drive to conservation village of Lourmarin - probably one of the most photographed villages in Provence because of its roofscape and Luberon mountain backdrop, chateua, churches, picturesque medieval streets, and gastronomic restaurants - one of the jewels of the Luberon, as are nearby Gordes, Bonnieux, Menerbes, Lacoste, Goult, Roussillon, Rustrel, Apt, Cucuron etc. Ansouis, and the nearby reputed Alpilles with St Remy, Paradou, Les Baux, Maussane, Arles and the Camargue, or the Dentelles de Montmirail and its famous route des vins including Chateauneuf de Papes, Beaumes de Venise, Seguret, Vacqueryas, Crillon le Brave, Crestet, Suzette, Orange, and Vaison la Romaine

Short walk into the hamlet where there is a stocked trout fishing lake.

Nearby farm produce for sale May to Sept.

A great property!

  • 4 of 5

A lovely villa, a very thorough and detailed explanation of all the region by the owner, who is very nice. A large and comfortable place. The kids called it a palace..

Wonderful Property and welcoming owners!

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed at the Les Murier (west wing) with our 3 children (ages 15, 11, 6). This was one of our best holidays ever! The Property is located at the heart of the Luberon which enabled us to take daily trips to the regions various attractions. The House is delightfuly decorated a la "proveance" style thanks to the owner's good taste. Very clean and well maintained, with fully equiped kitchen, 3 toilets and 2 bathrooms, as well as spacious living room. It has a beautiful seperate garden area with BBQ and ping pong, where we had our dinners. The pool was the highlight, especially for the kids who spent most of the afternoons there. The owners, Andree and Bernard are wonderful and delightful people, and were very friendly and welcoming at all times. This was especially helpful as they are on site and we do not speak French. We already recommeneded this place to all our friends and hopefully would love to return soon again!

A comfortable home in a great location

  • 5 of 5

If you like the Luberon, walking, local markets, Avignon, Aix-au-Provence, Arles, Cassis, then stay at Les Murier or Les Olivier. It is the ideal location to explore this beautiful part of Provence. Our apartment was perfect for our family with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, clean and well-equipped. The owner was on site and very friendly and welcoming. We'd love to come back.

Les Borrys/Les Muriers

  • 5 of 5

Les Borrys? Les Muriers? No, never heard of it.....ssshhhhh Provence’s best kept secret!

A simply perfect week, but you’ll need to make it two to take advantage of this idyllic and very well appointed farmhouse retreat – rustic, but with a pool, dishwasher, fridge, washingmachine, poolside fridge, separate garden area and BBQ, three toilets/bathrooms, Sky TV and ping pong! There are plenty of local food markets, beautiful scenery and of course excellent wine. Les Muriers is the bigger of the two properties on offer – it does sleep 6 but 2 of those would have to be a sofa bed in, it also has direct access to the pool although the accommodation is up a flight of stairs. Owners are deligthful and very helpful for things to do and very child friendly. You'll be wise to book early.

A place to relax comfortably

  • 5 of 5

We, that is a family of 9 persons between 45 and 84, stayed in this 19th century farmhouse last May. It was simply wonderful there. Everything was so tidy, clean and spacious. It was also comfortable - even for our parents who can't walk very well. Everything was just as we had read before in the description. We liked to sit at the long breakfast table next to a perfectly equipped kitchen in the morning, went sightseeing after that - there are lots of interesting places within an hour's drive - and relaxed at the pool in the late afternoon. In the evening we had some BBQs a few metres from the poolhouse and went swimming in the late night - this was no problem, because of the pool floodlight. The owner was extremely helpful; not only with her suggestions about what to see and what to do, where to shop and which restaurants to visit. She even helped us with her credit card when we weren't able to get some fuel at a supermarket filling station. Meanwhile we recommended her house and the facilities to lots of our friends.
