Lochside Cottage

Lochside Cottage is a 4 bedroom self catering holiday cottage 15 yards from Loch Katrine in the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park. This 4 bedroom charming and spacious attached self catering holiday cottage is the rear east wing of Stronachlachar Lodge and sits in an isolated corner of Loch Katrine at Stronachlachar just 75 yards from the pier where the SS Sir Walter Scott steamer arrives daily during peak season. The cottage is beautifully decked in white oak hardwood flooring with a log burning fire and an additional sun Lounge that has open views of the loch.

Ground floor: Lounge with wood-burning stove spectacular views of the loch.. Kitchen/dining-room leading to Lounge. 2 Twin-bedded rooms. Bathroom/W.C. with over-bath shower. First floor: Double bedroom with 5ft bed. Twin-bedded room. Bathroom/W.C. with over-bath shower.

We discovered how beautiful the Loch Lomond and Trossachs area was when our children were small and have been returning ever since. We are fortunate to have been able to rent out our holiday cottages, lodges and apartments for over 10 years.

Why Richard Willis chose Scotland

We are based in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs Park at Stronachlachar on the edge of Loch Katrine with some spectacular scenery around us.

We have some unique properties just 10/15 yards from the waters edge of Loch Katrine and offer a superb location for large or small family gatherings via a range of property sizes.

All properties have oak wood flooring and great loch views. Most have a log burning stoves for that homely feel and they all have gas central heating to actually keep you warm.

What makes this house unique

The Pier Cafe is only 100 metres away and offers high quality food and drinks.

The Inversnaid Bunkhouse, 4 miles away, is an excellent place to kick your feet up and have a beer after hiking. It is also a hostel used by walkers.

Aberfoyle, 11 miles away, is the nearest town that has a Co-op supermarket, Tourist Information, Restaurants etc.

Callander is a bigger town at 22 miles away.

We find the big supermarkets (Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury's) deliver to our properties on a regular basis.

Forest Hills Hotel at Kinlochard, 4 miles away, has a Restaurant and Leisure facilities on offer.

Beautiful house, Beautiful location

We stayed in the 4 bedroom cottage which was very nicely done. The lake is right there and very serene. The location is pretty remote, it's a long drive down a narrow road back to Aberfoyle but there is a nice restaurant and boat cruise within walking distance from the house. I appreciated that they had a portable crib (a.k.a. cot) available. Having a downstairs bedroom was nice for my elderly mother. Also, this is the only place I stayed in the UK with a decent mattress. Key pick up/ drop and payment were incredibly easy. My only complaints are it's difficult to adjust the temperature for the upstairs shower and it would be nice to have 2 bedrooms with a large double bed instead of just the one. I have used VRBO or competitors 7 times and this was one of my top 2 experiences.
