Comfortable and well equipped.

Set in the middle of olive groves, the location is very peaceful. Kids loved the pool swimming morning and evening. The beaches were great for families, clear warm water and shallow sloping. We enjoyed walking through the the puglian national parks, lovely woods and gorges. Ostuni and Lecce were good places to soak up the history and architecture of the region. Puglia gave us the sun we had been hoping for and therefore a relaxing holiday. Good tips are take good insect repellent, factor 50 and don't expect reliable 3g(not necessarily a bad thing).

Wonderful house and fabulous area.

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful, well equipped trullo in a tranquil setting. We had a wonderful 2 weeks exploring the area. Lots of lovely towns nearby to discover. The coast is about half an hours drive. The beach at Torre guaceto is exceptional. Polignano a Mare is dramatic and a must. We loved Martina Franca and Lecce.

We have been to Italy a number of times but not to the south, I'm sure we will visit this area again.

Richard and Alison were most helpful throughout. Our children are older and they loved the house and the area, little ones would love it too.

Jon, Dympna, Ellie and Ethan from Leeds.

A beautiful and traditional Trullo.

  • 5 of 5

Trullo Spalluti is fantastic. We self-cater on all of our holidays, and we have never stayed in such well maintained and well equipped accommodation. The Trullo is very characteristic of the region, and provided ample accommodation for 2 adults and 2 children (aged 6 and 3). Everything works as it should, the property was clean and very well maintained, and there is a fantastic range of utensils / appliances. The pool was great for the kids, and the grounds are ideal for exploring. Loads of lizards etc to entertain the kids (and adults), and lots of nice ripe plums and figs to pick for dessert!

Prior to our arrival our contact Alison provided us with loads of information, and when we got to the Trullo we were met by Richard, who provided us with an introduction to the property and the local area which we found very helpful.

The property is about 40 minutes from Brindisi airport, predominantly along good dual carriageway roads (and past a number of large and well equipped supermarkets). It is easy to negotiate your way to the major towns and sights in the area, although sat nav was very useful as some of the towns are a maze-like. We found plenty to do in the region, and some nice beaches about 20-30 minutes way.

As in many areas of Europe, most of the local amenities close for periods during the day, and the towns were more lively in the evenings when the temperature drops. We had excellent weather for our entire stay (including very high temperatures for the first week - 40 degrees plus). Despite the absence of air conditioning the Trullo was pleasantly cool at all times.

Overall we had a fantastic time. This was our first visit to Italy, and although the area is not a common destination for British tourists, we found everyone helpful and accommodating, even allowing for our very rudimentary language skills.

We would definitely recommend Trullo Spalluti as a base to explore Puglia.

Excellent and very enjoyable place

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay in Trullo Spalluti and would highly recommend it. It is as beautiful as the pictures suggest.

We stayed in Trullo Spalluti for one week and it was fantastic. The Trullo is kitted out to the highest standard and you do not want for anything. It is spotless and is very homely and finished to a beautiful standard. Feels more like a 5 star hotel than a traditional farmers house!

Inside the Trullo the kitchen, bathrooms and master bedroom (we didnt use the other bedrooms) are all of an excellent size and the kitchen comes with every possible piece of kitchenware you may need. The living area is comfy and an ideal place to relax. The master bedroom is huge and the thick walls ensure it remains cool even in the midday day sun. The outdoor space had a bbq, a lovely shaded terrace and a great sun area next to the lovely pool.

Alison & Richard were super helpful. The area is remote but with a good sat nav there is plenty to see and do. Do not miss the beaches at Torre Guaceto. And as for the food, every restaurant we went to was like the best meal we had ever had!

The trullo provides a haven and I would recommend it to anyone!

Trullo Spalluti is situated in the countryside 10 minutes from Ceglie Messapica, 15 minutes from Ostuni and 30 minutes from the beach. Ceglie is very well known for its restaurants from traditional pizzerias to a Michelin starred restaurant offering something for evereyone. In the summer there is always something going on in the old town square so just sit and enjoy old Italy with a glass of Prosecco or a beer in one of the small bars.

Being centrally located, the Unesco world heritage town of Alberobello with its streets of pretty Trulli, the baroque city of Martina Franca, the wonderful cave dewllings of Matera, the famous Castellana Grotte caves, the Zoo Safari at Fasano and the Greek ruins of Ignasia are all within easy driving distance.

For sightseeing further afield Lecce, the 'Florence of the South' or Gallipoli with its miles and miles of sandy beaches are both worth a visit.
