Lovely peaceful getaway
The gite was so clean and everything you could need. The kitchen was very well stocked and a lot of thought had gone in to thinking of everything a guest good need. Such a comfortable bed and good shower, this gite has been lovingly restored by Catherine and Shaun, who are great, friendly hosts. They are contactable for any advice/ recommendations and very knowledgeable of the area, but also leave you to your holiday. They did share pictures and the story of Foxes Farm transformation, as we enquired about it as we love to know the history of where we stay if possible. Good area to visit Mont St-Michel and surrounding villages, a car is a must for getting about. Thank you Catherine and Shaun for a great stay, not to forget Napoleon and Josephine their lovely dogs. Kind regards Shelly and Colin

A lovely two weeks in a wonderful location
Everything about this holiday was excellent - from the friendly and informative emails sent by Catherine prior to the holiday to the face to face welcome from them both on our arrival. The gite itself is very good with all the facilities and some that you need for a perfect holiday. We were three generations (with two children under 5yrs) and found it worked perfectly for us. The garden is a delight, ideal for children but equally wonderful as a chill out space for grandparents! The location is excellent - not far from some pretty towns, wonderful landscape and stunning tourist spots along the Bay of Mont St Michel. All in all a 5 star gite in a wonderful rural setting. Fully recommended.

Wish we could give it 6 Stars!
We had the most wonderful 3 weeks in this gorgeous gite, nestled in the beautiful Normandy countryside. The gite is spacious and luxurious - with sparkling en suite showers for each bedroom, ample storage space and a pretty sunny garden. The furnishings are lovely and your every need is met - from the great TV and DVD in the lounge, to the huge dining table and well-stocked cupboards and drawers! Our hosts were truly special - charming, thoughtful and so accommodating - they couldn't do enough for us and were a font of local knowledge! We even feasted from their fruitful veg garden with some lovely healthy goodies for our BBQ! The area is beautiful - lush countryside, wonderful forest walks and a short trip to the spectacular bay around Mont St Michel (Avranches). We explored the lovely towns close by (St James, St Hiliare and Ducy to name but a few) and feasted in many of the great restaurants a short drive away. Granville is close enough to visit and the beaches are all pristine and beautiful. Our dog Norman was treated like a visiting dignitary - he adored the gite, the garden and the walks around the farm - particularly if he could goad the polite and adorable resident dalmatian gentlemen! We managed to find several dog-friendly beaches to explore and the forests presented us all with ample opportunity to walk off some of the delicious bread and cheese! Our teenage sons were comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed the sun-loungers in the garden, as well as the huge TV. They spent a wonderful day canoeing down to the Bay and whipped the water to a froth with their fishing rods near Granville and just over the border in Brittany. The gite is well-positioned for day-trips to Brittany and we spent a wonderful few days gazing at the sun-worshipers in St Malo before discovering spectacular coves along the coast coming back towards Normandy. Our huge thanks to Shaun and Catherine (and the boys) for a fabulous 3 weeks - we can't wait to visit again!

APPRECIATION GITE FOX FARM

Host profile image
We purchased this 18th Century Farm Estate in 2012 and moved to France in 2016. We decided to move to France from the UK after selling our business and property and are excited about opening our wonderful farmhouse to the public whom we are sure will love France as much as we do. It is a slower pace of life with little stress and is much more laid back than the 'rat race' of life in the UK. We speak English and we are learning French.

We live next door to the gite with our two beautiful Dalmatians. We have six chickens which are totally free range (we do not have a cockerel so no early morning wake up calls).

Why they chose this property

Before moving to Normandy we had many fabulous holidays in this area and fell in love with the diversity this area has to offer. You can make the holiday as busy or as relaxed as you want there is plenty to do if you want to get about but is also perfect to sit and relax and read a book. It is in the heart of lovely countryside, but only a 10-minute drive to either Ducey or Saint James with shops and restaurants.

What makes this property unique

The views over the Normandy countryside from our farmhouse are truly amazing. I still get excited by all the different things Normandy has to offer and being located on the Normandy / Brittany boarder allows you to go sightseeing / relax at the beach, or shopping what ever you want this location has something for everyone. Come and see you will love it.
