In Downtown Chamonix, just 2 minutes walk from the pedestrian Rue du Docteur Paccard, the heart of the town and important destination for shopping and dining, our apartment is the best location for your vacation. Completely renovated in 2006, the house retains the "Savoyardo" Style from which it takes its name, combining the typical rural furniture with modern bathrooms and kitchen appliances which are 100% made in Italy for the maximum comfort of the client. The apartment has 3 bedrooms (sleep 2 people per room), 2 bathrooms, a large living room with kitchen. The exposure of the house is south-west so is warmer and full of sun: also a balcony is located south west with a fantastic view on the Mont Blanc. 2600 Sqm garden access, dedicated ski boots heating room

The Téléphérique du Brévent (lift) is just a few minutes walk from the villa.

About Mr. Leonardo

I do not personally live in Chamonix, but I frequently come here for vacation and relax. Heather (english and french speaker) will welcome you at your arrival and, being local, will assist you in all your needs.

Why Mr. Leonardo chose Haute-Savoie

The Grande Savoyarde, a large property in Chamonix, was built by an old Parisian deputy married to Mrs. Spencer, American with British origins, owner of a well-known perfume company.

The couple purchase 4183 m2 of land behind the Majestic, a well-known residence of prominent local families.

The house was built between 1925 and 1926, certainly by the same architect that built villa Barman and it seems that it was built to be rented rather than to be inhabited.

This rental will presume the importance of the Grande Savoyarde and the high touristic level of Chamonix during the world wars.

The architecture of this building certainly doesn’t go unnoticed in the Savoy landscape.

It’s characterized by large master rooms; large windows looking towards the wonderful view of the Mont Blanc range make

However, its main peculiarity that makes it unique, is a rounded edge in one of the corners of the residence itself, typical of London houses, the so-called

bow-windows, due to Mrs. Spencer’s influence, that make the villa a wonderful synthesis between French and British styles.

In the bow-windows, because of their peculiar circular window, it seems to be immersed in the enchanting Savoy nature just at the foot of Mont Blanc.

The materials used in this residence are noble: stone, wood and others of undisputable value, especially in some rooms with a design concept.

In some of the main areas there are some monumental fireplaces, as in the dining room and at the entrance lobby, often surmounted by valuable paintings.

For this reason the villa was classified as one of France’s historical houses.

The most illustrious owner was a French president.

Chamonix is located near the massive peaks of the Aiguilles Rouges, and shares the summit of Mont Blanc with its neighboring commune of Courmayeur in Italy. Spacious, incredible view, great location

My only negative impressions were the furnishings which were old and faded/worn and the lack of a washing machine in the apartment (a coin operated one is accessible in the building basement) and some issues with contacting the accommodation manager to have some issues addressed (she has another full-time job so finds being called to sort things out inconvenient).

Beautiful Property! Very Comfortable!

What a Lovely time we had at this Beautiful Property!! What a Gorgeous place! The views! We were very comfortable with the beds, baths and the cross ventilation breezes helped keep us cool. It was nice to have a kitchen and living area to relax during rainy weather! We had a bit! We will be back many times in the future and I hope to stay with you again! all our very best wishes, Maggie, Lou & Bill. PS: Heather was very nice and helpful during our stay!

Beautiful apartment in a prime location!

The entire building is beautiful and the flats are very well furnished. The location could not be better, as close to being in town center as possible, without the noise and added privacy. Management is very nice and responsive. We stayed in the flat for an entire year and absolutely loved it! Highly recommended!

Wonderful stay

Me and my wife stayed at one of the 3 bedrooms apt of La Grande Savoyarde. The villa is wonderful and well maintained. It is located just close to downtown and it is also easy to reach the ski lifts of Le Brevent. I would definitely recommend this place

Nonostante la bassa stagione siamo stati molto bene: l'appartamento è molto spazioso e raffinato, la cucina e il bagno sembrano nuovi! Sono rimasto veramente impressionato da questa struttura che offre una qualità superiore al prezzo che fa pagare. Ringrazio la Sig.ra che ci ha accolto e lasciato le chiavi di casa all'arrivo per la sua gentilezza e cordialità. Lo consiglio vivamente!

(1) The rental property incl. the furniture and the other contents are to be treated with care. The tenants are liable for all damaged goods, damage to the property or anything else related to the property, whether caused by themselves or their accompanying guests. We shall be entitled to recover the full cost of any damage or loss caused by you or your party.
(2) Tenants have to behave with propriety and in such a manner as to in no way cause distress, damage, danger or injury to other clients, property and/or any third party. The owner is not responsible for any injury occurred inside the property. Tenants are also liable to forfeit their cautionary deposit if the owner receives complaints from his neighbors or from his building management agent regarding the group’s unruly behavior. This is entirely at the discretion of the owner.
(3) If the tenant notices anything damaged, he/she must report this within 24 hours from the arrival time to our guardian (Phone: +33 4 48 65 82 86 and/or email: grandesavoyarde@gmail.com).
(4) Is not allowed to leave personal items like shoes or ski boots in the common areas of the property (stairs and hallway included).
(5) Smoking inside the apartment is strictly forbidden.
(6) Pets of all descriptions are banned unless through prior agreement.
(7) Before departure please be sure to keep clean the kitchen area and take out the rubbish to the dumpster.
