Giacomo and Greta were fabulous
My family of ten stayed at Torre Collevento for a week in June. The proximity to Orvieto and things like grocery stores and local businesses and area wineries was perfect—just a short drive back down the rolling hills. The grounds of the villa are beautiful and the view of Orvieto itself from our terrace was incomparable. When little problems arose such as losing our electricity, Giacomo was quick to respond. Greta helped arrange a chef to prepare a large family meal one night. The villa itself has obviously been affected by the hit tourism took during Covid. It would benefit from some financial investments in things like better mattresses and maintenance to fix things like wobbly toilets and broken chairs. However, despite the need for some attention, the villa afforded us a wonderful week. I hope that now that tourism is back in full force, management can freshen the property and make it more comfortable.

3chick in Orvieto
Easy. Actually more impressive than the photos. Chose it because we needed 5 bedrooms and baths for 5 people ranging from 24-79. Like the ability to cancel with COVID going on. Great value. Very firm and comfortable beds. What the kitchen lacked in charm it made up for in challenges. Remember, It’s a professional chefs kitchen and we are just great cooks on regular stoves. More refrigerator space than I have ever had anywhere in the EU. Very secure. Incredible bathtub!!! Loved the pool table and fireplace. Easiest washer to use ever. So glad I chose this one. We’ll be back with more family in the future .

A Magical stay steeped in history
First, let me say that we had a few issues on day 1 (pots and pans were old and a little dated, not enough towels, and the pool needed to be cleaned); however, after speaking with management (Arianna/Giacomo) they quickly resolved all of those issues that same day. Ok now that the "bad part" of the review is over... This place was simply amazing! I want to give a HUGE shout-out to Giacomo for making our stay in the hills of Umbria/Orvieto simply amazing! I fell in love with Italy all over again! We hired Giacomo to cook for us one evening and he and his assistant did an amazing job, the food was wonderful and fresh followed by an amazing history lesson of the villa we were staying in. Over 600 years old and full of amazing stories. The dining area is a converted stable that used to hold the horses for the knights that were stationed there to watch over the area. The bedrooms were occupied by those same knights hundreds of years ago. The views from the villa were simply amazing! The sunrise and sunset was gorgeous! All around the property there are olive trees, rosemary (the smell was amazing!), and there was even a small garden of "wild" strawberries that we enjoyed a few treats from. :) The kids loved playing behind the house where there was a huge space to run around and kick the soccer ball around. The local cat, who my children affectionately named "Cricket", was super friendly. The part that sold me on the property was the wood-fired oven! I made pizza in it (my dream come true as a future pizzaiolo) and some flat breads (focaccia etc...). Giacomo also has a vegetarian restaurant in Orvieto that is amazing (and I'm a huge veggie hater so that says something!). He has many Etruscan dishes that celebrate the local history and heritage of the people of Orvieto. I recommend it to anyone! Vis a Vis is the name of his restaurant. :) Giacomo also recommended a vineyard (Cantine Neri) to tour while we were there. It was also amazing! We saw their vineyard and garden area (which gave me some ideas of my own) and how they stored and produced their wine. Then we had a tasting at the end along with some delicious food!) If you are into history this is an amazing base-camp to see so many things! There are plenty of places to shop in Orvieto and Orvieto Scalo. I would recommend this villa to anyone with a large family or a group of friends looking to fall in love with the area! Thank you again for letting us stay in this amazing villa!

The views are unsurpassed -
7 of us stayed in the beautiful villa in May. There was plenty of room for all of us to have space. The grounds are quite stunning, herbs growing around the villa and the roses! We enjoyed our evening meals on the patio with the sun setting in the hills to the west. Gorgeous views of Orvieto! The photos of the villa are accurate. The location is perfect for some touring & relaxing. We did plenty of both. The kitchen has pros & cons. The convection oven was great. No toaster so we bought one & left it. Plenty of refrigerator space. Never figured out the dishwasher. Tons of hot water, although some pressure issues if you are in the top floor bedroom. The AC units in the bedrooms don't do very much, but we did not need them for our stay fortunately. There were some issues with WiFi at the villa & in the area. Never really resolved & the owner brought over a hotspot for our last day. Great outdoor stone oven which we used to roast chickens one night. Plenty of tableware & glassware. Kitchen is not stocked with anything to speak of, so you will need to purchase what you need. Several wineries near the villa Grocery shopping is nearby. It would have been great if there was a small notebook at the villa with some local tips, like when the outdoor markets are taking place & in what town. With no WiFi, we were not able to find them unless we happened to stumble upon them. Super easy to get into Orvieto & we went several times. They do have a stack of maps of Orvieto, which we found very helpful. Ate at Charlie (Orvieto), Il Boccone del Prete (Porano), Tenuta le Vellette (near the villa), Trattoria del'Orso (Orvieto) to name a few. The day we arrived, the villa was being turned over & Guido arranged for a private tasting & meal at Tenuta le Vellette. Charming visit even though it was our arrival day & we were super jet-lagged. Still a wonderful visit. In closing, the villa is spectacular & spacious. With just a few tweaks I would have given them 5 stars. We would likely return & I recommend this villa for groups or families traveling together. The décor, lighting & furnishings were all very tasteful. The villa is gated & very quiet at night. Close enough to everything, but far enough away to give you privacy. Greta & Giacomo are very nice & welcoming.
