New for 2016 is The Forge. A large 3 bedroomed house. The Forge has the flexibility of using the dining room as either a dining room or a bedroom ,for less mobile guests.Outside, all the houses have private barbeques with tables and chairs for al fresco dining in the evening sun. Children are very welcome and there is a dedicated play area for them with trampoline, slide, swings and even a mini castle for them to play in. With 28 acres of private park your children are totally secure and can let off steam on their own while you relax and for those of you who want peace and quiet its easy to get away from, as the park is big enough to accommodate all. There are also a number of good golf courses locally. 'Chateau de Serrigny' Petit Chablis is also now available onsite with tasting of this and many others, only a short walk away from your door.

We have recently returned from another short trip to the chateau. This time we stayed in the newly converted Forge. I have to say that we were pleasantly surprised. It's not our first visit so we know that Paul and Lesley always make so much effort to make us comfortable. The house had everything we needed . Kitchen is a dream, huge fridge freezer and a beautiful range cooker. We had lovely evenings sitting in front of the log burner, trying to imagine the Kings horses being shod in that very room . We could actually see the original brick floor was worn where the horses stood ! Since our last visit, there are 2 new restaurants opened in Tonnerre, just a 5 minute drive. We were grateful that Lesley made a reservation for us at a small restaurant opposite the station. It was very pleasant and great value for money. We visited our favourite caves in Chablis and Fleys and couldn't go home without a boot full of Cremant. We would recommend The Forge as it's the perfect house for a quiet get away, with all mod cons .

Wonderful property

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing stay in the Forge. The facilities were great, it has been tastefully restored and the Chateau and its surroundings are very impressive. Lesley was so responsive to my queries prior to our stay and couldn't do enough for us during our holiday, making us all feel so welcome. We hope to visit again and stay longer!

Burgund - Serrigny - Lesley's Schlösschen

  • 5 of 5

The Warmest Hospitality Ever !

  • 5 of 5

The Western Gate was absolutely perfect, cosy, beautifully decorated with every comfort taken care of. Lesley, the owner, went above and beyond the call of duty in every respect, and nothing was too much trouble for her. She even offered to drive us into Chablis so we could do some wine tasting without worrying about driving! A very well situated gite so close to Chablis and Les Riceys, the Champagne region. We would highly recommend this holiday gite and we will definitely return ! Thank you Lesley for a "magic" week !

warm and welcoming

  • 5 of 5

The Western Gatehouse is a lovely comfortable place to stay, it has been refurbished to a high standard, the facilities are excellent and the decor is charming.

Nothing is too much trouble for Lesley, the owner, she is warm and welcoming and helpful with advice about the area.

Chablis is just a short drive away with several good restaurants and a market on Sunday morning. Tonnerre is a few minutes drive in the other direction with a supermarket and some wonderful history.

We recommend this property to anyone looking for a warm welcome, in a peaceful setting with everything you might need a short distance away, we had a very enjoyable holiday.

Wonderful week in a charming gatehouse

  • 4 of 5

We instantly felt welcomed when we arrived at the gatehouse by Leslie, who we'd been in contact with, as we were going to be later than expected. Leslie booked us into a local restaurant in Chablis which put us at great ease! The gatehouse was charming with a huge amount of character. The setting also was stunning, set in the grounds of the old chateau. The kitchen was well equipped although small, but was just what we needed! The TV was british so we could watch the standard channels, news etc. The bedrooms were comfortable, my dad had the best night sleep in years! Serrigny was lovely! A quiet and pretty village. A bread van came some days which added to the experience and we enjoyed playing boule and table tennis in the village! Leslie was extremely helpful and was always happy to help with recommending restaurants and wine tasting etc. Chablis and Tonnerre were only a 10-15 minute drive away. Chablis had a Sunday market which we visited on the first day. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the chateau grounds and walking around the local area. The whole family had a wonderful holiday! Thank you Leslie for being so helpful and welcoming! The bottle of Chablis in the fridge when we arrived was also a lovely touch and was extremely welcome after a long journey! We hope to visit again in the future, but in the meantime will recommend to friends visiting the area!

We recently stayed in the Western gatehouse for four days with our door and it was wonderful. The cottage is tastefully appointed with all that one needs for a very comfortable stay. The grounds are great for dogs and children. The location seems remote but everything you can imagine is a short drive away. Paul and Lesely were very welcoming and helpful in pointing us in the right direction. The bottle of chilled Chablis in the fridge and the private wine tasting that Lesley arrange are the little touches that make Chateau de Serrigny even more special. We can't wait to return with the rest of the family!

Locally,we can organise free wine tasting for you and obviously give you the best tips on where to buy Chablis. Here you can taste for free and take guided tours of all the vineyards. 'On site' tasting is also possible in our dedicated cellar saving the need to drive or find babysitters. East takes you to Aube region where the Champagne grapes are grown before transportation north and finally with great Burgundy reds to the south you are perfectly placed. Burgundy also boasts some of the best cheese in France and there is nothing more enjoyable than sitting on the side of the Burgundy canal (4km away) with some fresh bread, cheese and a bottle of local wine. Restaurants offer a wide variety to suit all, but will of course serve up all the local specialities.

Other activities include fishing, rock climbing, canoeing, horse riding and bowling and loads of space for the children to run around in....

Auxerre is 20mins drive with its fantastic renaissance architecture and great shops and restaurants.
