Quaint Cottage, very cosy with wood burning stove burning

  • 4 of 5

Had a great long weekend visiting the area around Copthorne. Close enough to Birmingham to enjoy a gig at the O2 Academy and also to visit the Cotswolds. Very, very quiet area and we enjoyed the peace.

Not what we had expected

  • 1 of 5

Cropthorne is a lovely village and the directions were adequate, however there was little to see from inside the cottage.

The property was cold despite the fire and the one basket of logs (we bought our own from Tesco) and if you opened the doors it smoked.

It lacked any welcome feel on arrival.

It was cramped and not overly clean in places. Furnishings were drab and well worn.

There was no where to keep clothes other than drawers, a wardrobe perhaps, only there wasn't room for one. No shower or bath stuff and very few toilet rolls. The code for internet connection is wrong too by the way, as kennelbank is not accepted.

Not sure what customer services you are referring to.

The instructions were finally found on leaving, although barely visible and tucked underneath the biscuit basket by the back door.

Had a lovely meal at The Bell though and were well looked after as the other recommendations were too far away.

Sorry to be so negative but for the amount it cost us we cannot think of anything good to say about it and would not recommend.

Other visitor comments would have been interesting to read but could not find a visitors book?

Lovely cottage

  • 4 of 5

The cottage was very clean, tidy and welcoming. Quiet situation and lovely small garden to sit in on a warm evening. Ideal for two people but large enough for four although second bedroom is small. In a good situation for visiting lots of villages.
