Apartment in Alfama, Lisbon Coast, Portugal - Step Out And Start To Explore - A Myriad Of Alleys And Lisbon's Best Flea Market Just Outside

The apartment is in an old building and fully renovated by us. We knocked down many walls to create an open and airy feeling throughout the apartment. The terrace was a key feature for us when we bought the place and we have spent many lovely mornings, lunches and evenings there admiring the views and letting the Lisbon sun in. The roof window on the second floor ads to airiness. We love cooking together, and since there are so many great food products available in Portugal, we created a kitchen that is made for team cookings. Lots of space and a kitchen island makes it a great place to be together. The kitchen is integrated in the living room making that area the natural hub for friends and family. Alfama, the old town with its myriad of alleys and lanes, bars and restaurants are just outside the door. Explore the Castle, the Pantheon and the Monastery by foot and take the chance to buy some antiques at the Feira de Ladra (Lisbon's biggest and best flea market). The metro is only 200 meters away from the apartment and gives you easy access to all Lisbon's attractions and there are buses on the street itself getting you out to Expo is 15 minutes.

Why Ekaterina chose Lisbon City

We lived for 4 years in Portugal and totally fell in love with the country, the people, the food, the wine, the ocean - the list can be endless! Now we have temporarily moved to another country but our hearts and our future is in Portugal.

The apartment is only a 15 minute taxi ride from the airport located in the heart of the old town - Alfama!

Thx for letting us stay in your wonderful apartment. The light, the beautiful details and the view from the large terrace made want to stay just indoors :)) luckily though we ventured out and discovered the lovely Alfama, with lots of small alleys, restaurants and bars.



The walk into the center is only 20 meters and metro was near and we could explore the further parts of Lisbon easily.



In short - great. And by the way, thx Katarina for your advice on restaurants and bars. It really helps to have local knowledge :)

Well positioned apartment for touring

Good sized, spacious and clean apartment. Sleeping arrangements comfortable for accommodating 4. The sleeper couch was not very comfortable - perhaps a more comfortable version could replace it?

Location was perfect for all our sightseeing needs and transport links were good. Local supermarket for basic supplies was adequate and conveniently located. Local eateries all easily located and not too far but fabulous! We had some great meals out, specifically at Gato Prado and Atiro te o Rio at Cacilhas.

Un appartement idéal au cœur de Lisbonne

L'appartement est tres bien situé au bord de l'Alfama, à deux pas du Panthéon et d'une station de métro, point de départ idéal pour sillonner les ruelles de Lisbonne. L'intérieur est clair, spacieux, tout confort, avec une jolie terrasse.

Nous avons eu de très bon contacts avec la propriétaire qui s'est montrée tres prévenante. Nous recommandons absolument ce logement !

The house was alright/ organisation bad

The upstairs toilet had a bad smell. We were told we had to leave the house @10 am even though we had said that our flight back was an evening flight.

Also even though it says towels and linen provided - you're not allowed to use them?

All in all it feels like we paid for an apartment and weren't allowed to use facilities. I've used owners direct before and this is different.

The apartment is decent and close to transport. Not close to the beach unless you drive.

Owner's Response: We value greatly the feedback from guests, this house is also where we live ourselves, so we treat it and keep it in good shape. Some confusion was in place with Idele's group. Despite our notice about the 10am standard check-out time, they thought it was okay to stay till 21:00 on the day of departure. The extra night had not been paid to cover the late check-out, however we worked it out with the next guests to arrive later that night. The state of the apartment after the rent was messy, all linen, mattresses and towels needed additional cleaning, i.e. time to wash & dry, the cleaning lady had to come one more time the next day, which also disturbed our new guests. The group has used extra bedsheets and towels, that they discovered in the closet and that were not provided for their use. We always share our contacts and ask if there is anything people may need, but we never received any requests from Idele. Normally we provide 2 towels per person and the beds for 6 people are already made as described on the website. A corkscrew was missing and two cutting boards made of cork were damaged. We could disregard this, if the overall attitude of the guest was appropriate. I am sorry to be giving a negative review, but unfortunately this is the case!

Lovely apartment

We stayed 4 nights in this lovely apartment in Lisbon. It was light,airy quiet and plenty big enough for all five of us. The owner let us arrive early as our flight arrived in Lisbon at 9 ish in the morning. There was plenty to see and do in the surrounding area but it was nice to sit out in the sunshine and read on the balancy in the afternoons. A real treat in February. We couldn't get the TV to work but in ways that was a bonus.
