About the property

Cottage in Keyhaven, Near Lymington, Hampshire, England - Peaceful location, 10 minutes walk to the harbour and coastal path,

Surrounded by the neighbouring farmland, and within the New Forest National Park, this recently modernised, 3 bedroom (1 bathroom) detached house has stunning views in all directions. The beds are one double, twin singles and a pair of bunk beds (suitable for children or small adults only).

The well equipped house is on two levels with attractive front and back gardens. Local pubs and cafes abound on this stunning part of the Hampshire/Dorset coast. The Keyhaven estuary hosts wonderful birds, ferry trips to Hurst Castle, views to the Needles Isle of Wight, and coastal paths for walks and bike rides. About Eleanor Sturdy

Jesmond Cottage is our family holiday home. We have been enjoying weekends and holidays in the area for many years. We live and work in London and have family in Salisbury, and Romsey. The garden is our much loved hobby, and our son enjoys the trampoline!

Eleanor Sturdy purchased this house in 2006

Why Eleanor Sturdy chose New Forest

With both the sea and the New Forest close by, Keyhaven is a very special place. We have kept a sailing boat here for many years and love to come and use the house at weekends and in the school holidays. Even on busy bank holidays the lane is quiet, but there is always entertainment up the road at Milford where the village green has music, art shows and a great fish & chip shop.

What makes this house unique

The house is detached and does not have a direct next-door neighbour. It is unbelievably quiet and the lane has very little traffic. The views out over the countryside are very calming after coming down from London, and the sunsets over the back garden are usually beautiful.

Keyhaven is an interesting quiet village with amazing history - everyone is very friendly and the farm shop is superb. The big village of Milford-on-Sea up the road is a wonderful place to shop and eat, walk and swim.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had an absolutely amazing week! The weather was just incredible for October (I've never had a birthday so good), we just hoped it would be dry but the sun shone all week!

Your house is fabulous, we've never rented anywhere so well stocked with crockery and extras. We pinched a bit of your ice by the way but left a bag in the freezer for you to replace it 😊

We loved your DVD collection too, we obviously have very similar tastes. Thoroughly enjoyed watching Control again and some new films too. But now we want our own home movie system, just need to buy a new house with a wall big enough for the screen as it wouldn't fit in our Georgian cottage!

We had an awesome week

Kindest regards

Looking forward to spending a few days in the area around Milford on Sea we decided to leave the premises two days early because the premises were not as declared.

On the 20th February 2017 I was informed that cleaners would be in on the 21st February so all should be OK. We arrived on the 23rd at approx 2.30pm the day that the very strong winds made our journey tiring, we gained access only to find the sink full of dirty dishes and the dishwasher full, clearly the cleaners hadn't been in.

When staying at someone else's property through a booking site like this it is important the owners have the property in pristine condition, my concern was as always to check the

bedding, there was a largish grey mark on the inside of the duvet at the top end. This did not convey a thorough cleaning had been done and under the fabric type wardrobey thing a used tissue was left.

The heating did not come on by turning the thermo up as was instructed by the owners.

I have notified the owners but a satisfactory conclusion has not been reached, they said they hadn't had this problem before and were investigating.

Within the cost of the booking is a charge for extra cleaning, we left these premises in the condition we would have like to found it and certainly cleaner than when we walked in. Obviously the bed linen and the industrial type hand and bath towels not included in that statement because of our usage.

In our travels around the world and therefore many such premises we have only had one other experience similar to this and that was in Montreux.

It does sadden me that I have had to write a negative report but if the truth isn't told things never get put right.

I took photographs of a before and after.

Disappointed Leicestershire.

Beautiful property, with lovely views of countryside from every window.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a long weekend and enjoyed the comfort and space of this property - it was a perfect home from home. There are very beautiful views from all of the rooms, the kitchen is well equipped, the beds very comfortable and bed linen gorgeous and the house is well positioned for fantastic coastal walks. A delight!

great location

  • 4 of 5

location was fantastic

walking dog was easy as was walking to the coastline morning and night

property suited our needs and apart from a few early problems which were resolved I cannot think of anything else needed (maybe a rail in master bedroom with hangers)

it would be ideal for cyclists wishing to do the solent way

Beautiful house, stunning area

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Jesmond Cottage for February half term. The house was great value for money and perfect for all our needs. With 2 children under 6, there was plenty of space for them to run around and the owners had kindly left toys out for them too. With a trampoline in the garden my 5 year old was in heaven. The situation of the house is perfect for visits to the sea and to the New Forest. Boat trips to Hurst Castle and walks in the Forest. We were lucky with the weather but I would love to return in the summer to make use of the garden and beautiful beaches etc. My only very small comment would be that the house could do with a few more saucepans!! We like to cook and there were no large pans!! Thank you though..fabulous stay and we will definitely return one day.

Wonderful Holiday!

  • 5 of 5

We were delighted to find the house as beautiful clean and sunny as the description suggested. The house is surrounded by fields and so has far reaching views and is lovely and quiet. My son is 16 months and he had great fun playing with all of the toys and visiting the baaa's (sheep) and eyoors (horses!) who were in fields along the road. Just around the corner is a lovely pub and a little further on from that is the beautiful sea; we took a walk down to the sea each morning and evening to enjoy the views. As you can tell, we had a great time, we will be back.
