Renovated 1800's cottage, minutes from restaurants, bars and shops, quiet & tucked away

A newly renovated secluded cottage in the heart of the bustling market town of Wadebridge that spans the River Camel.

New to the letting market in 2015, we are delighted with the response from guests as they arrive, and the reviews received so far. Please read our reviews - and book with confidence that you will have a fantastic holiday!

With local restaurants, bars, independent shops, and the famous Camel Trail cycle route to Padstow and Bodmin literally on the doorstep, make Wadebridge, (the only Cornish town to feature in The Sunday Times top 50 places to live list 2015), your base for exploring Padstow, North Cornwall, Doc Martin and Poldark country and beyond!

Within a short drive to the surfing beaches of Polzeath, Constantine, Trevone and Harlyn, each with miles of Cornish golden sand and rock pools, 15 minutes to the famous fishing port of Padstow with its fabulous restaurants and harbour and 20 minutes to Port Isaac (Doc Martin country).

For those in search of a lively scene, Newquay - with its bars, clubs, surfing beaches and many attractions such as the Zoo, Aquarium and Surf Schools is 20 minutes drive or a bus ride away.

For those who need High St shops and a bustling rural city - fabulous Truro is about 30 minutes away - with it's historic Cathedral, a huge range of shops and river cruises to Falmouth.

Wadebridge is well served by local buses - with regular services to Padstow, Truro, Bodmin Parkway railway station, Plymouth and Newquay - also for the airport with Flybe links to Manchester and Gatwick. Ryanair also return for the summer of 2016!

The world famous Rick Stein Restaurants, and Jamie Oliver's Fifteen on the Beach are within easy reach, as are the Eden project, Tintagel Castle, The Lost Gardens of Heligan, the South West Coastal path, Saint's Way and Bodmin Moor are all near by.

Wadebridge is also well served by supermarkets - with a large Tesco, Lidl and Co-op, the latter being within 2 minutes walk!

Hill House Cottage was built in the 1800’s, and has had an amazing history – a barn once owned by the powerful Cornish Molesworth family, a stables, and latterly the home of a beloved local resident.

Now fully renovated, the Cottage aims to offer modern living within an historic building that retains lovely original features.

Entering Hill House Cottage – you will find the original slate flagstone floored dining hall with seating for 6. Double glazed doors to the rear provide access to a large private, elevated and completely secluded south facing patio, perfect for evening barbeques, or relaxing with the family.

From the dining hall, doors lead to the two ground floor bedrooms to the right and kitchen to the left.

Bedroom 1, has a newly laid light oak laminate floor, twin beds, and plenty of hanging and storage space. Bedroom 2, again with a newly laid floor, offers a super king size bed, a high pitched ceiling, original features, plenty of storage, a TV and direct access to the patio.

The kitchen, to the right of the dining hall is fitted with a brand new double oven and hob, washing machine and microwave, and everything you may need for eating in, a picnic or BBQ. Leading off the kitchen is a fully re-fitted shower room, with corner shower, hand basin and WC.

Stairs rise from the kitchen to an enormous lounge with original slate feature wall. With windows on three sides, the room is flooded by light, enhanced by new laminate flooring. A three seater sofa, a Corner sofa and chair provide the perfect place to relax after a busy day. There are views over the garden and across the town to St Breock Downs. Large TV/DVD book shelf and games are all available catering for all ages.

From the lounge is the 3rd en-suite King size bedroom, with the same new flooring and plenty of hanging and storage as well as a TV. The ensuite, boasts a double power shower, WC and hand basin.

Outside there is storage for surfboards and bikes.

Parking is available free of charge on the road after 6.00pm or a car park is 3 minutes away and £3.50 a day. Parking for unloading and loading is possible on the drive. During the week (Mon - Fri) you are able to use the drive whilst we are at work between 08.00 - 16.00.

We have full central heating and double glazing, BBQ, and garden furniture. Bed linen and towels are provided (no beach towels) and changed on a weekly basis for bookings of 1 week plus. We have a brand new travel cot - not used yet!

We love the Cottage and hope you will!

'Jewel' of a cottage in Wadebridge

  • 5 of 5

Fabulous property exactly as described and much more! The lovely owners Neil and Leisha had thought of everything that we would need and had left generous goodies to welcome us which were very much appreciated. Hill house cottage was warm and friendly with great ambience. Wadebridge town centre is amazing and less than 5 mins walk from the cottage -would love to live their permanently. Central for touring around Cornwall and provided a real 'home' to come back to each evening. Beds were so comfy and house warm and welcoming. Will certainly return to this jewel of a cottage. Thank you Neil and Leisha

Unexpected find

  • 4 of 5

This property was in an excellent location, really liked Wadebridge. The house was very comfortable and clean, loved the quirky features. The owners who were next door were very friendly and welcoming and filled us in with some local knowledge and places to go. Neil the owner kept supplying us with clean towels which was very nice, and the gifts they left for us on arrival was a nice touch. Would definitely stay here again and would have given 4.5 stars if possible.

Lovely house with a homely feel

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely weeks stay at the end of August. Very warm and friendly welcome. It was lovely to be able to settle in straight away and get on with the business of "holidaying". The property is ideally situated, close walk to some lovely shops and good restaurants and short driving distance to some great beaches with good surf. Neil and Lee were very accommodating and will hopefully be able to visit again. Thanks again for a lovely stay!

Delightful, spacious, well-appointed, modern property with easy access to great beaches

  • 5 of 5

This is a very tasteful conversion. The upstairs lounge is spacious and comfortable with lovely comfy furniture. Perfect for rest and relaxation. The kitchen is new, modern and well-equipped. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable and having 2 shower rooms is great when everyone wants a shower at the end of a day at the beach. The downstairs, tiled dining area is perfect for eating, but also holds all the tosh associated with a family beach holiday (body boards, wet shoes etc). The outside patio is delightful for eating, or relaxing and the hose is very useful for washing down wetsuits at the end of the day. The location is great, just minutes away from the town centre, the start of the Camel Trail and close to lovely beaches both to the North and South. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming and the welcome pack was a real treat! We had a wonderful holiday and we'll definitely be booking again.

Long journey,fabulous welcome

  • 5 of 5

After a long journey from Lancashire we were welcomed to our spotless cottage by Neil and Lee who we were going to find were the perfect hosts.A bottle of wine plus Pimms, strawberries, cream, shortbread and Cornish fudge just a few of the luxuries that awaited us.Everything to make our stay comfortable had been taken care of. I had booked the cottage for my Husband myself,my Grandson and Partner and my two Greatgrandsons aged four years and four months we had three fabulous spacious bedrooms one en suite and one family bathroom. The kitchen had everything you could wish for and the lounge was enormous I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Hill House Cottage to anyone when we arrived Neil and Lee were strangers but now are friends.

From the Owner

Wadebridge is a truly wonderful town where Neil grew up and returned to after University and many years working for National & International Newspapers in London. With many small independent shops, restaurants and cafes. It appeared in the Sunday Times 2015 Top 50 places to Live in the UK - and is the only town in Cornwall to feature. A visit to Dickson's Home Hardware is a must - if they don't sell it - you really don't need it! There is easy access to local beaches and Padstow and the Camel Trail is just minutes away where bikes can be hired (booking essential in the summer) The town itself stuffed full of independent shops - clothes, lighting, home made gifts and real butchers, bakers and fruit and vegetables. All pride themselves on their "local Produce" - come and seek them out. We love being able to pop to the end of the road for delicious tapas at Little Plates, or a 2 minute walk to Bridge Bistro for something slightly more formal. A drink in a local Cornish pub or Sunday Lunch at the Moleworth Arms or Earl of St Vincent is a must and all within walking distance. For music lovers, local bands play at the Bridge on Wool on a Saturday night. Check out local festivals too - Rock Oyster, Eden Sessions, Tunes in the Dunes! All within 20 minutes. There are two traditional fish and chip shops, two Chinese takeaways (one has a restaurant too) and two Indian restaurants with takeaway option - a short walk away - as none deliver - "Welcome to Cornwall!" Menus can be found in the cottage. The only chain store here apart from the Supermarkets is Boots - open 7 days a week. If you need further information - just let us know.
