About the property

Modern Apartment in Fowey, Cornwall, England - with river views, reserved parking and only 5 minutes mainly level walk to town centre

Slipway Apartment is a modern second floor apartment. There is a lift and reserved parking. Parking in Fowey is difficult, especially in season so to have your own space just across the road is incredibly useful. You can even access the apartment without needing to negotiate the one way system in Fowey.

Fowey's central street, Fore Street, is just a 5 minute mainly level walk away with a very small amount of uphill. Many guests comment that this is a delightful walk into town. If this is too much for you the Fowey town bus runs during regularly the day in season, on a circular route through town and will drop you at the apartment.

There are 2 bedrooms, one with a 5ft bed and 1 with a 3ft single bed and space for a cot which can be provided. The living room has river views and the whole apartment is modern, smart and very well equipped including a 50 inch plasma TV.

Included in the rental is linen, house towels, essentials welcome pack, heating as needed and end of rental clean. With the apartment being so lovely and warm in winter and so much to do in Fowey, it makes it as good for a winter's break as in summer.

There is no outside space but the view of the river from the living room is always of interest with so much going on. The ferry to Bodinnick just outside the apartment runs all day and there is seating next to the water here. Great for crabbing and watching the world go by.

Fowey has a wealth to do within the town. There are numerous good eateries, both restaurants and bars/pubs including some with terraces on the waterfront; perfect for an afternoon tea or a summers evening. Fowey is renowned for sailing and water activities and it is easy to get on the water. There is a public slipway right outside the apartment, and you can hire canoes and boats locally as well as take boat trips from the bustling town quay. Coastal walking is a delight in summer and winter with the famous Hall Walk literally on your doorstep, and there are plenty of places to visit in the area including the Eden Project.

An excellent choice for a holiday or short break.

About Suzy and Andy Matthews

We live near Bristol and love escaping to Cornwall, so the next logical step was to buy a place to call our own. Fowey has been a special place in our hearts since celebrating our Silver Wedding there a few years ago. We now, as well as this property, have business interests in the area.

Fowey is a magical place. It has so much going on. We want to be able to share Slipway Apartment with others so that others might discover how fabulous Fowey is and how much it has to offer. We are also on Facebook, Slipway Apartment, Fowey.

Car: not necessary

Coast/Beach:

There are 2 main beaches in Fowey, Readymoney and Whitehouse both within walking distance from Slipway Apartment. Larger beaches are a longer walk (Lantic) or a drive away, Par Sands and Polkerris Beach. Polkerris is well known for its watersports activities and here you can hire paddle boards and sailing dinghys.

Travel:

Newquay Airport (flights from other UK airports) is about 25 miles away.

Par railway station is on the line from London Paddington to Penzance and is only 5 miles away, so a short taxi journey.

Distances:

Eden Project is about 25 mins by car. Fabulous day out. The North Cornwall surfing beaches are well within the hour. There are national trust properties and gardens nearby too.

Further Details:

You will run out of days before you bore of Fowey and the surrounding area. Pop over to Polruan on the passenger ferry for a leisurely stroll and a morning coffee. There are coves to explore and breathtaking views on many coastal walks. Shopping is easy. Kittows is a delight of a delicatessen and Fowey Fish always has local fish for sale. The many independent shops ( as well as some household names!) are great for a wander and some retail therapy. There are spas located both in Fowey (Fowey Hall Hotel) and nearby at Trenython Monor.

Fully cleaned every Saturday. Essentials welcome pack left for your arrival and a toiletries welcome pack. Other: Slipway Apartment is centrally heated in most rooms using underfloor heating. This is included in the rental. High chair and travel cot can be available at extra cost (supply own linen). Internet WiFi access throughout.

Stunning Apartment - Comfort with elegance

Beautiful apartment - excellently maintained and extremely comfortable. Within very easy walking of the town centre with great choices of pubs and restaurants (The Ship being our favorite). Close to the estuary and great for walks - The Hall Walk over the car ferry and back by water taxi being just beautiful.

Good location for trips out - St Mawes and Marizon being our favourites.

A fabulous beach walk at Perranporth and shops at Truro are all easy to get to.

Lovely apartment and great location

The apartment was modern, clean and well maintained.

It was comfortable and spacious and plenty of utensils etc to use.

Car park was opposite the apartment block and easy to park in the space unlike many in cornwall!

All in all, we were very pleased with our choice.

Amazing Stay

We stayed here the 3rd week of July and had a super stay. What can I say about the owners -

they were wonderful, lots of messages before the stay and i could ask them anything. When i asked about deli's, bakeries, things to do in the area - i received an array of leaflets in the post that week! The apartment was beautiful, they had thought of everything a great welcome folder with so much information in it - even down to the restaurants and deli's to go to. I would 100% recommend this apartment. :) It is at the quieter end of Fowey which works extremely well and is right next to a little car ferry taking you to Bodinnick - a quick way over to Looe and Liskeard. Fowey is just 15 mins from the Eden Project as well which is a must visit! If we ever go back to Fowey we will most definetly be wanting to stay in this great apartment with its super views :)

Luxury apartment, stunning!

This was booked for my elderly parents, due to having two bedrooms and a lift. It's a gorgeous apartment with everything you need, and views over Fowey ferry. My parents were very impressed and thoroughly enjoyed the stay. It has wifi, large Tv in lounge, tv in bedroom, dishwasher etc. The bathroom is lovely, with shower over the bath. There isn't outdoor space with the flat, but there's lots of benches overlooking the ferry, and my parents enjoyed sitting there in the afternoon.

It's a 10 - 15 min walk from the main shops and pubs, but uphill on the way back, which became increasingly difficult for my parents but would be no problem for younger people. I anticipate more facilities closer to the flat in the near future as several new flats are being built in this area. There was some noise from the builders in the flat underneath, but these flats seem to be near completion.

Would definitely return.

Booking Notes:
Please contact Suzy or Andy, by email or phone, if you wish to make a booking. A 25% deposit will secure the booking with the balance to be paid 6 weeks before the start date of your holiday.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day in peak periods is Saturday. Flexible start dates and short breaks are available at other times. Please contact us for details.
The apartment is available from 4pm on the day of arrival. We ask you to leave by 10am on the day of departure.

Notes on prices:
Prices include electricity, internet access, towels, tea towels, bedlinen and welcome pack. Please note beach towels are not included.
Prices for short breaks are quoted for a minimum 2 night stay.
Bookings for Christmas and New Year start on a Saturday or what ever day you suggest!
Cancellation fees are that you lose the deposit only, if you cancel more than 4 weeks before the start of your stay, 50% if you cancel between 1 and 4 weeks before the start of your stay. If cancelled within a week, then the whole rental is still payable. Should we manage to relet we will refund any rental received from the relet, net of an admin fee of £50.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
