About the Owner

We are Peter and Clair and we live here with our 12 year old son Callan, our dog and our chickens and turkeys.

Our lifelong dream was to move to Italy, buy a smallholding and to become as self sufficient as possible. This dream became a reality for us when we sold our house in the UK and bought our property in Arsita.

We love life in Italy, we have made some fantastic friends, and the hospitality and generosity of the Italians is amazing, but the things we love the most are the peace, quiet and stunning surroundings.

Peaceful Italian Break

  • 5 of 5

We had a great weekend in the Italian countryside - the cottage is a few yards away from the owner's family house, but feels very self contained and was really clean on arrival. Arriving late is was great to find bread, eggs, milk and a bottle of wine waiting for us.

Waking up the next morning - what a view. Just stunning. We had great weather at the start of May, and once you venture further afield the views of the snow capped mountains are even more breathtaking.

The bedroom was a decent size, as was the bed, and the main living room has an open fire, which we used as the thick stone walls means the evenings can get a little chilly indoors. The owners made sure we had plenty of logs, and the bedding was very cosy.

The only thing to be aware of, is the roads are pretty potholed, narrow, windy, steep and in some places, very high up, so if you are not comfortable with heights or a confident driver, it may not be the place for you!

This was perfect for a quiet couples weekend away, with a nearby village a ten minute drive, and Penne a small market town (very pretty) about a 45 minute drive.

The owners (Pete and Clair) were fabulous hosts - really welcoming and friendly and we hope to stay in touch. They have a selection of amazingly tame animals - from Trooper the dog, turkeys, chickens and chicks through to a couple of little rabbits - which bring a little bit of magic to the stay.

Real Italian hideaway, spectacular views

  • 5 of 5

Perfect family holiday. Peaceful rural retreat with beautiful views set in the hills. The villa itself was lovely with an open fire and everything you could need. The owners are very friendly and helpful, couldn't do enough. When we arrived there was a bottle of wine, eggs, milk and bread to welcome us. We highly recommend this as a place to stay. It's a good base for visiting all the major sites and the local town is a small drive away.

Camicia/Abruzzen

  • 3 of 5
