Villa in Le Plan-de-la-Tour, Var, Provence-Alpes-Cote DAzur, France - Situated In A Peaceful Hamlet Within Walking Distance Of Plan De La Tour With Views Of The Vineyards

Les Coquelicots is a recently finished luxury villa with outstanding views over the vineyards and sea in the distance. The house is situated in a peaceful hamlet within walking distance of Plan de la Tour. Gas Barbecue, Wifi, Telephone, Television (Apple TV) DVD. Cafe and restaurants 5 minutes away by car. Ste Maxime 15min. St Tropez 25min. Plan de la Tour is a working village with 6 restaurants including a creperie, several pizza houses and, 3 cafes , 2 very well equipped grocery shops, a shop that seems to sell everything!,a chemist, a hairdresser and a skin and nail treatment boutique, some clothes shops and a local Thursday Provencal market selling all local produce. As it lives throughout the year there is always something going on, especially in the Summer time, when there are various bands that play in the square, a flower weekend in April, a painting exhibition and night markets throughout July and August. Just further up from the villa towards Vallaury is the best Pizza that you have ever tasted! Pizza Camping It is run by Coralie and Robert, a viticulteur. Pizzas cooked in a traditional oven using vine wood and the freshest of ingredients! Coralie is the chef and he is the server. Although small it is the most romantic place to eat on a balmy evening under a star cladded sky. (Coralie also does take aways) Ste Maxime is about 10 to 15 mins away where you will find many more attractions and of course restaurants night life and the beach, together with a market on Friday and night markets. St Tropez is about 25 minutes on the back road over the hills or via the seafront which takes longer , where the night life and beach bars are World famous and a fabulous market on Tuesday and Saturday. Our favourite beach bar is L'Esquinade run by Manou, which is at the end of Pampelonne beach and where a bottle of St Tropez rose is 18 euros a bottle and you can almost step into the water from your table, on the waters edge. Heaven! (And brilliant for children) All our recommended restaurants and of course essentials (doctor, dentist and chemist) are itemised in a book ,with telephone numbers on your arrival. Because we lived in Plan de la Tour for 11 years, we know the village well. We sold our old house to return to UK and to build this new house for our eventual retirement. Just mention our names to most people in the village and they will only be too happy to help.

About Deborah Carr

This beautiful home is owned by Deborah and David Carr who built this new villa on land that they have owned since 2002. They used to live in the adjoining Mas du Lauva but sold 2 years ago to return to live in UK. David is a lawyer and Deborah is an actress. Because they have lived in the village all this time they (and their dog who was found as a stray there, Chaussette) are very much integrated in to the community and know many of the locals from the Mayor to the two centenarians and all the restauranteurs and shop keepers, and have extensive local knowledge and tips to help make for an enjoyable holiday in the area.. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions regarding the house or the area and we will try and help as well as itemise everything we do know!

Why Deborah Carr chose Le Plan-de-la-Tour

We initially moved to France for a change of life style. Plan de la Tour ticked all our boxes. The one remaining living french village near to the sea but set on its own in beautiful vineyards. We spent 11 fabulous years there. Because of the recession we decided to move back to UK as David was needed in his office full time and I wanted to resume my acting and writing of a feature film. We sold our house but kept 4000m2 of land and have now built the most stunning villa with exceptional views near to the village and also to the coast. As we cannot spend all our time in Plan anymore we decided to rent our beautiful home and share our secret.

What makes this villa unique

The benefits of our luxurious villa is that it is secluded and peaceful and yet close to all amenities.

Plan de la Tour is a walk away or by car if you want the fresh bread quickly! We have 6 restaurants including a creperie and several pizza houses, 3 cafes. 2 well equipped shops, a chemist and 2 food shops and a shop that sells absolutely everything! A Provencal market on a Thursday and night markets in the Summer. A doctors and a dentist surgery and 3 bakers. Our most favourite Pizza is in Vallaury just further along our road run by Coralie and Robert, you have to try it to believe it. Ste Maxime is 10 to 15 minutes away and the World famous St Tropez and Pampelonne beach with Club 55 just 25 minutes.

Outside: As the house is a new build , the garden is yet to flourish. Although we have planted numerous fruit trees on our land below where you will find the Boules Court. The Pool is heated and is about 10m x 4m. There is a gas barbecue for your use together with sun loungers, wrought iron relaxing deep chairs and numerous chairs and dining table for outside dining. Utility Room: Sink , dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, ironing board and steam iron . Plenty of storage space Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Luxury Bath towels and linen are included together with pool and beach towels. A change of linen can be done weekly if needed.

Perfect size pool and close to the village for croissant in the morning and night time market and events which when you get home all is silent for that last rose and swim in the moonlight

Unforgettable holiday

Together with three other couples, my husband and I recently spent a week at Le Cocquelicot. This is the second time we have rented this beautiful villa.

One wants for nothing here. The extremely spacious lounge opens onto a beautiful terrace, with its heated swimming pool, and views of the neighbouring vineyards. In the distance, the hills, and beyond that the sea and St. Tropez. In the evening, you can even hear nightingales singing. Once you are at Le Cocquelicot, it's difficult to find the motivation to go anywhere else! Although a morning walk to the nearby village of Le Plan de la Tour to buy freshly baked croissants and baguette for breakfast is a pleasant diversion. On Thursday mornings one can enjoy exploring the local village market and sitting at a cafe to sip a cappuccino.

We hope to return.

Modern, spacious and extremely well equipped in a beautiful spot with fabulous views. Not far from lovely village, Le Plan de la Tour, which has quite a few shops, cafes and restaurants and an open market. I used to walk down to the Bakery in the mornings to bring back delicious baguettes and croissants for breakfast. Will definitely book again.

Fantastic family holiday

We booked Le Coquelicots villa for 2 weeks in August 2015.

Communication before our holiday was excellent. The owners David and Debbie were fantastic in giving us all information that was needed to ensure the plan for our holiday went as smoothly as possible. On arrival we met the caretakers who were very helpful and attentive to anything we needed during our stay. There was also a detailed book with lots of useful information.

This luxury villa was everything that it advertised and much more.

Spotlessly clean, well appointed rooms, a fully stocked kitchen and a couple of lovely bottles of local rose wine greeted our arrival.

The view from the Terrace is sensational. Vineyards rolling down the valley into

Plan de la Tour which is only 5 mins by car.

The swimming pool was heated and kept very clean. Our children had so much fun everyday by the pool.

The neighbourhood is quiet and peaceful ensuring a relaxing holiday.

Plan de la Tour is a beautiful little village which we enjoyed wandering most mornings. The weekly market was fabulous to explore and to pick up local produce.

5 minutes up the hill is one of the best little pizzaria"s we have ever eaten in. A MUST!!!

Only ten minutes away by car is the larger coastal town of St Maxime.

A vibrant and bustling area in the gulf of St Tropez. Fantastic restaurants, shops and beaches await.

Once again we can't thank David and Debbie enough for allowing our family to have a fabulously memorable holiday at their beautiful home.

We will definately be back and would highly recommend the Villa.

We are a family of 5 and have holidayed in French villas for the past 15 years and this is by far the best accommodation we've rented. It's just recently built and finished and all trimmings are immaculate and tasteful. From every door that shuts smoothly and quietly to every conceivable kitchen utility, it was like going from home to a better home.

Luxuries included heated pool, air conditioning in every room, en-suite in every bedroom, Apple TV and new gas BBQ. The furniture in each room is large enough and comfortable enough that we each had our own space for relaxing and the pool is big enough for swimming lengths and deep enough for diving into.

David and Debbie were both friendly, efficient and helpful, being available by text, email or phone at all times to answer our questions before we traveled. The nearby village Le Plan de la Tour had wonderful dining and all the shops you would need with friendly shop keepers and market stall sellers.

Two local vineyards offer Dégustation du vin where you purchase locally produced wine at very reasonable prices.

Our deposit was refunded immediately on our return.

South of France Paradise

Fabulous new villa in the most beautiful location with great views . No expense seems to have been spared in creating one of the finest villas we have stayed in - the beds were super comfortable and there was everything we needed to make our stay very enjoyable. Plan de la Tour is a lively village just a few minutes drive away with a market, several restaurants and some very good shops. All in all, a great place for a holiday and we will be back!

The nearest beaches are in Ste Maxime which are about 10 to 15 minutes away. St Tropez is about 9 miles away. The well known beach of Pampelonne (St Tropez) about 35 minutes, where you can eat at the star studded Club 55 or enjoy the cheaper option at our most favourite: L' Esquinade. This you will find in our booklet on your arrival.


Nice is about 100km away. This is our most regular airport.

Marseilles 110km away.

Car hire is essential we usually book from Holiday Autos.

Train : Frejus or Les Arcs Draguignan or summer trains from St Pancras go all the way to Aix en Provence.

Plan de la Tour is situated in the Var. This constitutes most of the western end of Provence with the Alpes Maritime to the East ( incorporating Nice, Cannes, Monaco and Menton) The Var covers a wide variety of landscapes and culture ranging from Mont Ventoux towering over Aix en Provence (made famous by, among others, Van Gogh) to the Gorges du Verdon, the French equivalent of the Grand Canyon just over an hour north of Plan. The areas inland to the north comprise fabulous hilly landscapes with many traditional hilltop villages. These in turn lead down to the Maures hills which in turn sweep down to the dramatic coast line from Marseilles to San Tropez to Frejus. There is plenty of culture and famous places to visit in the area ranging from Marseilles an hour and a half away to the west with its famous port and recognition as European Capital of Culture in 2014, Aix en Provence, an old Roman spa town and world heritage city with historic buildings and a lively artistic community, through to Frejus, an old Roman town with a famous amphitheatre. A little further to the east (one hour) are Cannes (famous for the Film and other festivals) and Nice, and a little beyond the tax haven of glamorous Monaco and just half an hour beyond the Italian border and the entrance to the Italian Riviera.

St Tropez needs no introductions as a world famous historic fishing village and now centre of glamour, only 20 minutes away and, beside that, Pampelonne beach, a glorious two mile longstretch of white sandy beach made famous by the many restaurants and beach bars. St. Maxime with its own beach area at La Nartelle is only 15 minutes away.

Many of the local towns and villages have wonderful Provencal markets including St Tropez on a Tuesday and Thursday and Plan de la Tour on a Thursday. The area is also famous for producing the best Provencal wines, particularly Rose from around the St Tropez area and Red wines from Bandol. Every village has its own cooperative for tasting, buying.
