A very comfortable holiday
About the Owner
My name is Anne, I have successfully let our apartment for several years. We fell in love with Dartmouth way back in the 1980's! As a family with young children we enjoyed so many wonderful holidays together. Our children are now adults - but we still find that Dartmouth is a favoured destination. We love the little shops, pubs and restaurants. I keep myself busy being a wife, mother, grandmother, School Governor, a Trustee for a Family Support Centre, volunteering in a local secondary school as a Counsellor/Mentor to young people and delivering Relationship and Sex Education lessons. (Emphasis on the relationships)! I love to travel - but you will always find me back in Dartmouth for several weeks in the year. Why not try it yourself - you won't be disappointed.

Great Flat in a great location.
The property is lovely, well appointed and in a super location in central dartmouth. We had a great stay there for families weekend at the Naval College.
A very comfortable holiday
We spent a lovely week in Little Bayards. The apartment was very clean and well equipped, with a lot of attention to detail. I agree with the previous comment about the tiny telly but not the most important thing in a holiday. The location of the apartment is superb, within a few minutes' walk of coastal paths, shops, cafes, buses and ferries, which is just as well because parking in Dartmouth can be quite challenging, so we used the car very little and explored the area on foot, or by bus or ferry - very liberating! I would definitely recommend this town and apartment to our friends.
Comfortable, central and unique apartment
This is a delightful, quirky and comfortable apartment, set centrally in Dartmouth, with views of the river mouth (if you stand up in the front room!) and a real sense of historical charm, with the property's visible beams. My husband and I stayed with our baby daughter and found everything as described or better - the bathroom is much more modern/spacious than the photographs illustrate; the kitchen is well set out (the addition of a microwave would make the facilities complete) and the bedroom is small but cosy. The heating system works swiftly to warm the apartment and we definitely felt it was a "home from home". I agree with the last reviewer that the sofa rather "swallows you up" as it is low/soft but this is a tiny criticism of an otherwise perfect stay. The booking process and owner communication was swift, friendly and efficient. We would definitely recommend this apartment to friends/family and have already done so. Dartmouth is quintessentially English Riviera country, with a laid-back and indulgent feel; lots of eateries, views, strolls and attractions within a short walking distance of this apartment.
A lovely well placed holiday home
Little Bayard is a stones throw from the harbour and within walking distance of everything Dartmouth has to offer. It is well fitted with a new bathroom and has a very comfortable bed in a nicely decorated room. The kitchen/diner is plenty big enough to cook and serve meals for four. It would benefit from a microwave. The living area is large with a sofa bed and two chairs. The sofa was uncomfortable for me as I struggle with a sore back. The TV is tiny but we soon got used to it. The courtyard is not somewhere you would want to sit and relax but as we were so near Dartmouths many eateries and cafés this was not a problem.
We visited the National Trust Greenway House and Paignton by steam railway, took a small boat trip to the castle and enjoyed a cruise to Totnes. The cafe Alf Resco is a must visit, we ate there twice and loved the food, which was cooked to order and served with fabulous coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice, and the relaxed shabby chic seating area and friendly staff impressed. My favourite food was the fresh fish we ate at Rockfish and my husband loved the food at Mammas Kitchen and The Royal Castle Hotel.
We will definitely visit Dartmouth again and stay at Little Bayard.
I had a magnificent week staying at Little Bayards. Unforgettable!
Apartment was spotless clean, all the appliances were brand new and the bed, one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in. Location is superb. The views are breathtaking. You will find everything you will ever need at a short walk distance. In my opinion, you will not need a car to explore the area.
My hosts, Anne & Glen Forder, were an absolute delight to deal with. Communication was clear and precise, instructions were correct and very very helpful. Anne is very flexible regarding booking dates (when possible) and accommodated my requests swiftly.
Their hospitality went beyond all my expectations and I had the pleasure and luck to share a day with Anne and Glen sailing around. An astonishing experience I will never forget. Brilliant.
Thank you Anne & Glen for making me feel so welcomed and looked after.
I highly recommend this property and will be looking forward to my next stay at Little Bayards.
From the Owner
“This was the first property we bought in Dartmouth and was our holiday home for many years and now newly decorated and refurbished, I have fallen in love with this lovely retreat all over again. Just perfect for a couple or a family with small children. I am sure you will find Little Bayards a lovely place to get away from it all.”

Nearest airport is Exeter, and Bristol is also used for a wider selection of destinations and is appoximately 120 miles from Dartmouth, so car hire would be necessary.
The apartment is in the heart of Dartmouth which is surrounded by the lovely villages. River trips can be taken to Dittisham and around the coast to Brixham and Torquay.
The local shops are just minutes away as the the many restaurants and tea shops and cafes. Within the town there is a Coop supermarket, Spar and Marks and Spencers Food shop. There are 3 banks with Cashpoint machines all of them within walking distance. There are several shops which bake their own bread and pastries. Market Days are on Tuesdays and Fridays and offer an interesting selection of ware.
Dartmouth has cinema and library and a swimming pool which is located at the top of College Hill where the are also a Lidl and Sainsbury's supermarkets.
