Overview

About the property

Cottage near Boscastle, Cornwall, England - Peaceful Location, Close To Beautiful Villages Of Tintagel And Boscastl

The Old Workshop is, as the name suggests, a converted workshop within the grounds of the main Penpethick Barn property. The cosy, double bedroomed cottage is the perfect place for a romantic short break or for a longer exploration of the beautiful North Cornwall coastline. There is private decking at the rear of the property with table and chairs for that summertime Pimms or a winter-warming hot chocolate as you watch the sun set behind the beautiful Cornish hills and out over the sea. Or perhaps you could wait awhile and gaze at the seemingly endless starry sky. You also have use of a small area of lawn by the copse just outside the property and free user of our 5 acre, young woodland which can be accessed through the paddocks should you fancy an evening stroll. There is ample parking for several cars which is shared with the owners who live next door in the Farmhouse. We're here if you have any queries during your stay but would prefer to respect your privacy and leave you to enjoy the beautiful peace of our area.

About Claire Jeffery

Tony and I moved into Penpethick Barn back in Oct 2013 .

An added attraction was "The Old Workshop" a sweet little cottage built on the old site of an actual farm workshop . The remoteness of the site yet it's close proximity to so many lovely places clinched the deal for us . The sunsets are wonderful as are the land and seascapes . It has a lovely tranquil feel , you certainly feel calmer and can unwind which is what we wanted . Tony continues to work , I look after the home and cottages and my two dogs !

We are always on hand but like to leave our guests complete privacy to experience the magic effect of Cornwall .

Claire Jeffery purchased this cottage in 2013

Why Claire Jeffery chose Trevalga

We have always loved the North Cornish Coast , having holidayed down here since childhood we decided to have a complete change of life style . Our children had left home so we took the plunge and haven't regretted one second of it ! The wildness of the coast line , the enormous breathtaking skies and sunsets , the coastal paths , beautiful unspoilt beaches , craggy haunting moors all take a place in our hearts and the reason for moving here . We are spoilt for choice with places to eat , never short of recommendations and all are fairly near to us . We continue to discover what this wonderful county has to offer almost daily and I'm sure you will to if you come to stay in "The Old Workshop " .

What makes this cottage unique

If you come and stay at "The Old Workshop" you will benefit from our spectacular views of the Cornish landscape , the Atlantic Ocean and beautiful night skies . Also take the opportunity of walking round our 5acre woods , home to Badgers , Buzzzards and Bunnies ! Where the only sound to be heard is that of the Skylarks .

All this peace and tranquility yet you are only 3miles from Boscastle , Tintagel , Trebarwith Strand and Roughtor to name but a few .

Guestbook comments from the owner

"What a perfect cottage to spend a few days away in! Beautiful surroundings and wonderful hosts, thank you for a lovely stay! :)"

"Friendly hosts who provided some lovely recommendations. The cottage was clean, comfortable, homely and situated in an excellent location for exploring the North Coast!"

- Nicole - 2015

"We had a great time at The Old Workshop! My partner and I wanted a place to be our base while exploring North Cornwall and we couldn't have asked for a better location. Really close to Tintagel and Boscastle and a remote place where we could enjoy some quiet time - different from our usually hectic lives in London. Claire made us feel welcomed from the first day (thanks for the Cornish biscuits, they were delicious!) and the cottage is cozy, welcoming and is beautifully decorated. Thanks you for the great time, Claire and Tony!"

Notes:
Notes on accommodation: Penpethick Barn stands in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty high up, overlooking the spectacular North Cornwall coastline with Tintagel and Boscastle nestled below. Located three miles from Boscastle, Tintagel and Camelford offering you a great central location to discover the beauties of the North Cornish coast, Penpethick Barn is the ideal base for any Cornish Holiday. The stunning beach at Trebarwith Strand, three miles away, is just one example of what you might find along this dramatic stretch of coastline. The South West Coast Path is a stone's throw away with some of the most challenging walks one might find on a National Path but with that comes breathtaking scenery and the occasional but perfectly placed pub! We want to offer everything that the Cornish holiday maker could need. Our cosy & modern Old Workshop with distant sea views is the ideal base to explore the North Cornwall coastline. Come rain or shine the Cornish Coast will definitely amaze you. Outside: The property has a small private garden at the back of the decking which has a barbeque and a table and chairs for that alfresco dining experience! Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The property is cleaned weekly along with a weekly change of towels and linen.

Romantic getaway a real gem!

  • 5 of 5

Outstanding stay - felt like a celebrity having a private 5 acre wood to ourselves. Very quiet with plenty of parking. Cottage was fabulous with enough space for a weeks stay. Fab location with a short drive to tintegel, boscastle and beaches. Never realised there was so much to do in this remote part of England. Only had a small problem with wifi on first night due to a atmospheric conditions of a storm. Hosts available if any problems but ensure you have your privacy. Thanks for being a great host, Claire.

Not for the partially disabled

  • 2 of 5

My wife was unable to sit any where as she is partially disabled. The steps into the cottage are quite high . The sofa is very soft and the other chair is ok if you are young and able . There was no coffe table which was quite a hindrance. Also not having any proper cooking facilities. This is a beautiful cottage I'd you are a able person and doesn't mind not cooking. When we attended there was no wifi this was a hinderance and you can't check anything.

Owner's Response: Good afternoon Tony , I note your review but feel I need to respond The cooking facilities provided are as advertised We do not advertise as being suitable for the disabled ( we have taken this into account when we constructed our other cottage) The coffee table is situated adjacent to the sofa Had you requested a firm chair we could have provided one The lack of wifi was due to the lightening storm which was beyond our control . BT have now restored the service . I hope the situation with your father has not deteriated and you had a speedy return home. Kind regards Claire

Idyllic, cozy and relaxing.

  • 4 of 5

Excellent place to stay. Private and local to all the local popular attractions and towns.

Nothing better than feeling like you are in a home from home set up.

Very helpful hosts who were friendly and approachable.

Couldn't believe how clean it was here. Immaculate and you felt at home.
