A home from home!

A delightful flat - immaculate, yet welcoming - in a quiet location within easy reach of Edinburgh. No wifi, but no bad thing at all. Plenty of local information. We had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend it to others.

Comfortable and welcoming.

  • 5 of 5

This apartment surpassed our expectations! We received a warm welcome along with the keys from the friendly owner, who made sure that we were aware of local facilities including bus services for our visit to Edinburgh.

The apartment is situated on a pleasant wood-fringed estate, and was very quiet. A short walk took us into the centre of the town, the shops and the bus-stops.

There was everything we could possibly need, and everything was spotless. The furnishings made us feel that we were staying at a friend's house! We were very comfortable, warm despite the chilly weather, and had a most enjoyable stay. (Our Dutch friends were most impressed.) There were plenty of books and games, for all ages.

We would definitely recommend this apartment to our friends, and hope to visit it again ourselves, perhaps to do some walking in the lovely surrounding hills.

Quiet, Safe Location

  • 5 of 5

The flat was very nice; clean and in a very safe location. I enjoyed the close proximity to Roslin and the Roslin Glen and walking trails were everywhere near the flat. All mod cons were included in the apartment and the walls lined with many interesting books! Jean was wonderful to work with and made sure that her guests have plenty of bath linens and a comfortable bed in the main bedroom. The bathrooms were nicely sized and included some nice bath amenities. The supermarket was also close by and there were several great restaurants nearby as well. Additionally, there was ample parking for guests that was particularly helpful as well. I would highly recommend this flat and would stay there again.

Wonderful time in Edinburgh (Penicuik)

  • 5 of 5

I booked this apartment as a double birthday celebration for my partner and son. I am so happy I chose this apartment. On arrival Jean was there to greet us, the apartment was so inviting. Comfortable and spotlessly clean. It had everything we needed, including toys and games for the children. I would definitely recommend this apartment to friends and family. Also such a reasonable price. Approximately 30 minute car journey into Edinburgh also plenty of public transport. Nearby is a Lidl and a Tesco along with a selection of general high street stores. We would definitely stay here again.

Very homely with all that you could need

  • 5 of 5

On arrival at the property after a long drive the first impression of the property is that it is in a quiet family street on the edge of the quiet and well manner town of Peniciuk. The town has everything you could need (supermarkets, take away's, post office, bus routes into Edinburgh etc) but feels small and is not in anyway busy. Perfect for a relaxing stay. The owner met us at an agreed arrival time and had gone to the trouble of preparing a file with instructions of all appliances, local leaflets and information, and a map. You can't argue with that customer service!

The property has clearly been the owners home, and has a slight feel that she has gone out and left you as unaccompanied visitors. The flat is very homely and nicely decorated, and unlike many holiday lets has all the bits of cooking equipment, Cd's, table cloths, sheets, towels etc you could wish for, hence its very easy to make yourself at home. My son found the board games and a box of lego in minutes!

Its a short drive to Edinburgh (25mins) and decent but beautiful drive to Loch Lomond (1hr plus) and is under an hour to the Falkirk Wheel which out of everything we did during our stay, I would definitely recommend as its a truly amazing piece of engineering, with the kelpies only 4 miles away for a swift visit in the same day.

The property would really suit anyone looking for a peaceful home from home from home, whilst visiting Edinburgh and the surrounding area. I have to say every drive was beautiful and hence you can always find something nice to visit/look at within a short drive. I would definitely recommend.
