Lovely newly-built Stamps Cottage close to Lyme Regis with its own Beach Hut.

Updated: 23-Oct-2016
Uplyme – Village location 1.5 miles from seaside town of Lyme Regis and beach.

A delightful, holiday property called Stamps Cottage newly-built on the grounds of the old post office in Uplyme. This quiet village is within walking distance of Lyme Regis (try the riverside walk) with its picturesque beach and harbour. The cottage has off street parking for two cars and is very close to the local bus stop.

Uniquely, Stamps Cottage can be rented with a beach hut which has deck chairs, sunbeds and tea and coffee facilities. Located on Monmouth Beach, the beach hut is a calm spot to unwind after a walk along the Southwest Coastal Path, a swim, fossil hunting or a fishing trip. At the rear of the beach hut is a car park and toilets.

Stamps Cottage has been furnished with the finest furniture and everything is brand new in 2015.

About the Owner

We were married in 2014 and our wedding reception was four doors down in the field of the Talbot Arms pub. We love our cottage and plan to move here permanently when we retire. We hope you’ll love it too!

Stamp of approval - 5 star!

What a find! Super clean, comfortable, beautifully furnished and well positioned (although on a rather busy road) to discover the delights of Lyme Regis and surrounding countryside.

The picturesque riverside walk into Lyme Regis is five minutes away

and other favourite destinations included the cafe on Branscombe beach and for a special occasion the Mark Hix restaurant with spectacular views in Lyme Regis.

This cottage gets my stamp of approval and hope to return!

Fantastic place

  • 5 of 5

We received a very warm welcome when we arrived at Stamp Cottage which included some essentials such as bread, milk etc and useful information about places of interest. The cottage itself is furnished to a high quality standard and was immaculately clean. It was the perfect place to relax and felt like home from the moment we arrived.

It was ideally located for us to spend some quality time with other family members who were staying in nearby Seaton. My son really enjoyed his gluten free battered fish and chips at The Cobbs pub. This is something he has missed since being diagnosed as Coeliac a few years ago.

My only disappointment was not having the time to take advantage of the Beach Hut but it will be at the top of the list for my next stay.

I highly recommend this cottage as it offers so much and we felt truly looked after.

The cottage is beautifully decorated, cosy & luxurious all at the same time. The bedrooms are light and airy and finished to a high standard. The shower was out of this world, like showering in tropical rain! The kitchen has everything you need though the only thing I struggled with was the bottle opener, very tricky, howeverthat's my only grumble.

The cottage is situated in a lovely little village, we had luck on our side with beautiful weather and got to spend 2 days down at the Beach Hut which was a fabulous added extra. It's well equipped with chairs and hot drink making facilities and away from the main beach which means it's much quieter too.

Would highly recommend the cottage, fab location, lots to do but very relaxing.

Great Location for Jurassic Coast

  • 4 of 5

A great stay in a high quality cottage perfect for accessing Lyme Regis and the Jurassic Coast.

Around 30 mins. walk into Lyme Regis along the road, or more interestingly along a very pretty river path.

Perfect as a base for local fossil hunting, South West Coast Path cliff walking, great beaches and glorious countryside.

River Cottage Canteen
River Cottage HQ

From the Owner

With its mild, temperate climate Lyme Bay is an ideal winter as well as summer holiday destination. The weather is temperate, by British standards and far warmer than many other places at a similar latitude owing to the influence of the Gulf Stream. The Good Beach Guide provides ratings for all the beaches along the Lyme Bay coast and most achieve the highest award. You will find good food to eat at excellent seafood restaurants including Hix and River Cottage, welcoming village pubs and tasty fish and chip takeaways. Lyme Bay is part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. Many of the earliest discoveries of prehistoric remains were made by Mary Anning, the 19th century fossil hunter, in the area surrounding Lyme Regis. Today, cliff faces and rock falls continue to expose fossils and reveal up to 250 million years of history. The wonderful South West Coast Path follows the contours of the Triassic and Jurassic coast from Studland in east Dorset, around Lyme Bay in west Dorset and east Devon, then along the south Devon and Cornwall coasts, back through north Devon to Minehead in Somerset.
