Peaceful And Secluded Converted Coach House, Truly A Home Away From Home

Overview

Property

Updated: 30-Nov-2016
Cottage in Burwen, Anglesey, North Wales - People Keep Returning To The Coach House. Come And Find Out For Yourself Why They Do

A charming rural stone-built cottage where you can live where horses and carts were once housed, easily accessible, and with good parking. Close to several good pubs and the Bull Bay golf course. There's a flagged courtyard with a table and benches just outside the kitchen door, and a lawn where you can sit or lie and soak up the sun. The Coach House has its own special magic with its light, airy rooms and the feeling that while you're there, the rest of the world is a long way away. Throughout The Coach House you'll find many original works of art, and reminders of its past when horses and carts were housed within its walls.

About the Owner

I live on Anglesey in a farmhouse which was built in 1644. I love this island, and the nearby mountains of Snowdonia. I also love these old houses, where so many lives have been lived in the past, and where lives continue to be lived today.

You will see in my cottages that most of my life has been spent with art in its many forms, as the walls are hung with original paintings and prints, and, at the Snowdonia cottage, many embroidered samplers of the kind that might have been produced by the people who once lived there.

I enjoy the changing seasons - the bare, almost monochrome winters, the full ebullient flowering of summer, the closing-down time of autumn and its balmy days, and the blossoming of spring, with its promise of long evenings and warm days ahead.

Just returned from this lovely coach house. This is a well situated holiday home from which to explore this beautiful island and North Wales. The coach house is spacious , comfortable and well equipped with everything you need. It has wonderful views of the surrounding country side and a private walled garden for relaxing. Would definitely recommend.

As recent guests we found The coach House to be the most beautiful and idyllic holiday home for our week long break on the coast of Anglesey. The property is entirely remote yet no further than 5-10 minutes from the sea front, ample amounts of gorgeous walks and all local amenities. The Coach House is a hidden gem, quirky, cosy and yet serves as a completely functional and accessible home away from home. There are attractions within 30minutes of the property such as Triada Bay, Beaumaris, Caernarfon, Bangor and Newbourgh forest . Plus there is plenty do should you decide to explore a little such as a specialist Jam Makers preserve, several nature reserves and a 5* local chippy.

We took x2 Springer Spaniels with us who were completely overjoyed by the nearby wildlife, new and exciting walks and trips to the seaside for a much needed swim. Only to be welcomed back to a comfortable and relaxing place to rest their paws until the next day.

There are ample eateries, close by but also the option to bbq to your hearts content each night as we did if you’d prefer quiet night at home without the added expense .

Our host was most welcoming and friendly and made us feel very much at home.

A fantastic retreat for the whole family including the dogs and we would definitely rate this property with 5 great big stars! You can’t help but love the place!

Stayed at the Coach house for a week, my wife and I really enjoyed ourselves. The cottage provided good facilities in a quiet spot on the Island. The bed in the master bedroom was Heaven and confirms we need to buy another at home! Some beautiful beaches close by and some nice pubs and restaraunts. We met the owner, a warm generous man and we came home thoroughly relaxed. John & Debbie

Location

From the Owner

I fell in love with Anglesey many years ago. Its gently undulating landscape, its old coastal villages on little coves, the history of Druids, princes, saints and the people who have worked its soil for centuries, are all beguiling. Anglesey has always been known as the Mother of Wales, as its fertile soil has provided sustenance for the mainland, which was ferried across the Menai Straits before the two bridges were built. I am very happy to live here.

Activity and Interests

Coast/Beach:

The nearest beaches are the two at Cemaes Bay, three miles away. Anglesey coast is dotted with many small coves with sandy beaches, and several long beaches where you may sometimes be the only people there. Newborough beach, about 30 minutes away by car, is spectacular. Rhosneigr, about 20 minutes away, is very popular for windsurfing. The Anglesey coastal path goes around the entire island, and is a great way to see the coast. It is usually taken in about five or so stages.

Travel:

Nearest train station is Holyhead, about 25 minutes away by car. You would need a car for a stay at The Coach House.

Distances:

Just over a mile to Amlwch, three miles to Cemaes Bay.

Further Details:

At Amlwch there's a Co-op supermarket, a Spar store, hardware store, banks, hairdresser and pubs. At Amlwch harbour there's a small maritime museum and information about its past, when Amlwch was a very busy port, exporting copper from the nearby Parys Mountain mine.

At Cemaes Bay there is a convenience store, an art gallery, chemist, hairdresser, small fruit and veg shop, and a handcraft shop with local crafts and gifts.

Try the pubs at Amlwch and Cemaes Bay for decent pub food, and Hotel Tre Castell and the Bull Bay Hotel at Bull Bay.
