Beautifully situated in the s'albufera park, a well appointed villa with three bedrooms and three bathrooms, swimming pool and modern kitchen. A delightful family stay for October half term.

Fabulous location

  • 5 of 5

This is our sixth trip to Es Grau and it was like walking back in time. Nothing has changed, much to our delight. This is our second stay within Casa Vista which has been pleasantly refurbished since our previous visit. The pool area and seating were the base of our holiday, however, the internal accommodation is very well equipped, with 3 bathrooms, crisp clean bedding and comfortable beds. The sunsets over Es Grau and the nature reserve are stunning and a walk along Mahon harbour looking at the super yachts is a must. Best place to eat locally remains Il Porto in Mahon with fabulous steaks and service the way it should be. We will be back...

A Fantastic Place to stay with our young family

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying here, the place is very tastefully decorated and the views are outstanding. It is also very conveniently located, we loved exploring and went to a new beach everyday. The list of restaurants that were recommended were excellent, especially Cap Roig. The outdoor area was great for my children to explore in a safe environment. We used the BBQ a lot and ate outside most nights. The only downside are the mozzies so bring lots of spray! There is no aircon but the rooms all have fans. We have fallen in love with Menorca and will definitely be come back. Natalie was excellent to deal with, the whole experience was 10/10.

A lovely villa in a beautiful setting, we couldn't fault it at all.

  • 5 of 5

We had a truely relaxing week in Es Grau. We all enjoyed the villa and the pool and had plenty of fun excursions. There's nothing not to love about Menorca and all it has to offer.

Casa Vista was everything we had hoped for - and more besides.

  • 5 of 5

We had an excellent holiday on Menorca helped enormously by the first class accommodation provided at Casa Vista.

First impressions are always important and as we walked up the steps past the flowers covered in butterflies and saw the gecko sculptures on the wall and the long veranda seat looking out over the nature reserve we all went "Wow, this looks great".

Once inside the property we weren't disappointed either, it was light and airy, well decorated and scrupulously clean. The living area and bedrooms were all comfortably and tastefully furnished and the kitchen was well equipped with every thing we needed.

Outside the back patio area was excellent for barbequing and "al fresco" eating. I think we only ate one meal indoors and that was when we had a brief thunderstorm which forced to take cover. The swimming pool was great, bigger than we expected and although we are not keen swimmers we found we were going for a swim before breakfast and again when we got back from a day's walking. The pool was cleaned out twice a week and topped up which was ideal.

Whilst the villa was excellently maintained and furnished, the icing on the cake for us were the fantastic views. Sitting on the front veranda there were panoramic views across the nature reserve to Es Grau and the sea, well worth getting up early to see the sunrise over the sea and the Mediterranean. The view from the back equally stunning, watching the sun set on Mt Toro in the distance was always colourful.

Casa Vista was in a perfect location for us, situated in the National Park but still only 10 minutes from Mahon and with easy access to all the major towns on the island.

We felt at home as soon as we arrived and the welcome pack was great, an excellent blend of essentials and local specialities, thank you very much for that. We certainly had a superb holiday and we intend to come back to Casa Vista again but in early May when the wild flowers should be at their best and more migrating birds passing over the island.

Whether you are looking for a walking and wildlife holiday or just relaxing on the beach or by the pool Casa Vista is just ideal.

Spacious, comfortable house with great pool. Secluded and well located. Well equipped kitchen.

  • 4 of 5

We had no difficulty finding the property, thanks to the online video. The house was beautifully presented, with plenty of comfortable furniture. We found an extensive selection of food and drink awaiting us - bread, butter, cheese, cold meats, biscuits, beer and wine! Very welcome as we had been up since 3am that morning!

The house is within easy reach of the numerous supermarkets in Mahon, which we found well stocked throughout our stay. We mostly used Lidl and Mercadona, but visited some others too. The little shop in Es Grau seemed to stock a bit of everything too, albeit with limited choice.

This was our first visit to Menorca, and we were surprised at how much there was to see and do. Cuitadella was having its Sant Joan festival when we were there and it was quite busy. Fornells, which we visited twice, is a pretty place with a lovely little market on the waterfront once a week. The stand-out visit for us, though, was the fortifications at Mahon - Fortaleza de la Mola - an amazing place with miles of passageways and underground chambers to explore. We even encountered a kestrel nest in an opening in the stonework, with two chicks peering out at us.

We are keen birdwatchers, and there was plenty to see, even from the terrace of the house - we saw Red Kites and Booted Eagles overhead nearly every day, Hoopoes and Kestrels were also common sights, and we had two or three Red Legged Partridges come to roost on the roof several nights. At night, Tawny Owls and Scops Owls were frequently heard.

We hired a car for the fortnight (very easy pick-up and drop-off at Budget at the airport) and were amazed at the end of the trip to find we'd managed to do nearly 600km during our exploratory outings.

A couple of cautions - the rear terrace has some sharp edges to its steps and some awkward changes of height and could be hazardous for small children or unsteady adults. And at the time we visited, we found there was insufficient shade available. Just two umbrellas we available on the terrace - OK for just the two of us, but not if there was a larger party using the house. And it got very hot there on many days we were there. I have communicated these concerns to the owner, Natalie, and she said she would pass on the local manager. The pool was in very welcome use! Beware though, that there is no shallow end to the pool and this may be a problem for children.

All in all we had a good time there and may well return at some future date.

Location

From the Owner

We fell in love with Es Grau using owners direct to rent from 2005. after a couple of years we starting to rent in the nature park 3km away, to enjoy the very unspoilt Spanish atmosphere of Es Grau & 3-5 minutes later retreat back to the tranquility of the nature park, amazing walks, and no noise from the neighbours being built above other properties in the nature park. In June 2015, after completing on the purchase, with other members of our family, a major project took place to renovate the building from the 1980's to 2015. Please see the video of How Casa vista was renovated & the before & after video on YouTube (stevefrixou in the search box) With a short space of time to complete a large renovation, to a high standard, was decided to bring virtually everything from the UK, to avoid the disappointment of not getting what we needed from a small island. June 15th - my husband set off from Derby, with an 8metre long motorhome and 2.5 metre long box trailer attached to the back, filled with everything to modernise, refurbish and raise to the high standard as you can see in the pictures / video enclosed The work was project managed by Steve and mainly done by tradesmen from derby managed by 'Ian Armes', helped by the great support from our soon to be property manager Sarah Davis' & partner Jeff & their team of builders, plumbers electricians and Martin Harrison the pool man (All Godsend) If your looking for somewhere special to stay, Casa Vista will be our shared home.

Further Details:

Casa Vista is only 3 kilometres away from Es Grau with its gorgeous horseshoe shaped bay of shallow water, exceptionally safe for younger children. There are excellent restaurants and the café/bar on the beach. Here you will also find the small but well stocked shop which caters for most needs. For further or more sophisticated shopping Mahon, the beautiful capital, is only ten minutes drive away.

Menorca has many entertainments, including diving schools, equestrian centres, water parks, a zoo, glorious beaches, and a golf course. Because the Island is not very large nothing is very far away. It only takes about an hour to drive right across the Island to the west coast where you will find the lovely city of Ciutadella. For those with an interest in history the Island is fascinating, with many museums and numerous monuments. Actually Menorca has been compared to an 'open air museum' with entrance to these structures usually being free and uncontrolled. In 1993 the Island was declared a Biosphere reserve by UNESCO.
