Barn in Ullock, Nr. Cockermouth, Lake District, Cumbria, England - Peaceful Location With Amazing Views

This converted barn is situated at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, with fabulous views to both the front and rear of the property. It is within a 5 minutes drive of the Lake District national park. Cockermouth is a 10 min drive away where you will find a Sainsburys supermarket and other local shops and amenities. The family owned barn has been recently re-furnished and has a warm welcoming feel. We will accept up to 2 well behaved dogs. (we are unfortunately unable to provide Wi-fi due to lack of available equipment from BT)

The Stevenson family have owned this barn for over 10 years. We previously used it as a family get away, now we want to share it with others. It has recently been re-furbished with a warm and welcoming feel.

A lovely property in a quiet location with everything you need for a great holiday.

The Barn was small but perfectly formed and tastefully decorated and the kitchens cupboards were well stocked with everything you need. The garden is pleasant and secure with a lovely seating area to enjoy an evening drink in the setting sun. The property is in a quiet rural community but everything you need is within a short drive away including a Starbucks which scored bonus points for me! It was great to be able to take our 2 springer spaniels and they enjoyed a couple of the complimentary biscuits, whilst I enjoyed the bubbly and chocolates. We would definately return and reccommend to others.

A real gem of a find. Wonderful location and very relaxing.

The property was well laid out and the conservatory really made the living room light and airy. The large landing gave it a great feeling of space. It is a wonderful cottage for those with dogs and is extremely pet friendly, the dogs did notice the biscuit jar on thr fridge. The bathroom felt luxurious with the underfloor heating. The garden had endless views over open farmland that stretched as far as the eye can see. The sheep enjoyed watching our white labrador in the garden as they thought he was one of them. Will definately be revisiting Hill Top Barn in the future. Thank you Morag for sharing this little piece of heaven.

Rustic luxury

My family (6yrs to 69yrs) had a wonderful stay in this beautiful barn. Our expectations of this little retreat were certainly met and exceeded. Absolutely everything seems to have been thought of. Right from the start the comfort of this place could be felt. Some welcome treats (for us and the dog) plus tea, coffee and milk.

Our first day, the only one to be enjoyed with sun, was spent in the garden. On the little patio set and loungers, where we could take in the beautiful countryside with a glass or two of wine.

After a comfortable nights sleep we awoke to rain, none stop. This however just meant we got to enjoy the cosiness of the property all the more. With plentiful amounts of cushions and blankets we snuggled up to play games (some our own, some from at the barn), watch the selection of dvds that were at our disposal and relax reading in the comfort of the conservatory.

We did venture out a couple of times and enjoyed Cockermouth very much with Supermarkets and little shops selling something that little bit different. The Brewers Fayre for a meal was very nice too.

We can't really find fault with this little treasure at all. Had the weather during our stay been better we would more than likely have enjoyed a bbq and if we were to make one small suggestion, it would be for a bigger bbq than the one that was there.

All in all 'Thank you for sharing your home with us'.

Beautiful holiday

Dear Morag,

I just wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed our holiday and stay at Hilltop Barn. The accommodation was perfect for our family and our 4 children enjoyed the stay thoroughly. The barn is well equipped and lovely furnished. The surroundings are so beautiful and serene, we just enjoyed seeing the endless green fields and the peaks. We managed 4 full days of great fun and adventures. The location of the barn was convenient and we managed to move around easily. Easy to get from Ullock to Keswick, Aira Force and Ullswater, Cockermouth.

We would hope to be able to return at some point in the future.

Excellent getaway, cozy and romantic

The Hilltop Barn is a great location for a serene and relaxed holiday. Amazing views of the fields and the scenic beauty around is breath-taking! Facilities are clean, user-friendly and well thought out. The sparkling wine and champagne chocolates were a nice touch too. Although there's no WiFi, that's part of the reason why we could unwind properly! 3G or 4G connectivity is still good at this property (I'm with Vodafone).

The conservatory was our highlight. It provided a 'therapy zone' to unwind. Access to nearby places to visit and dine out was good. Would highly recommend the Kirkstile Inn nearby and would certainly come back again to this property for another holiday!

  • Notes on accommodation: Check in from 3pm, Check out by 11am Non- smoking. Hilltop Barn has been furnished to a high standard with the holiday makers needs in mind. A car would be a essential. Nearest supermarket is in Cockermouth approx. 10 min drive away. Outside: Outside is a large garden overlooking the Solway Firth. Outdoor table and chairs, 2 sun loungers and rotary dryer. Utility Room: Within the utility room is a freezer, iron, ironing board and washer/dryer. Cleaning / Bed Linen /: The cottage is professionally cleaned once a week. We provide high quality bed linen, bath towels, tea towels and hand towels. Other: Leading off the living room is the conservatory which has a ceiling fan for hot summers days and a large leather corner sofa wonderful for looking out onto the garden and the fields beyond. We do not have internet, due to lack of BT line plant, so are unable to provide it.
