A lovely property in a quiet location with everything you need for a great holiday.

  • 5 of 5

The Barn was small but perfectly formed and tastefully decorated and the kitchens cupboards were well stocked with everything you need. The garden is pleasant and secure with a lovely seating area to enjoy an evening drink in the setting sun. The property is in a quiet rural community but everything you need is within a short drive away including a Starbucks which scored bonus points for me! It was great to be able to take our 2 springer spaniels and they enjoyed a couple of the complimentary biscuits, whilst I enjoyed the bubbly and chocolates. We would definately return and reccommend to others.

A well appointed cottage on a very quiet lane. Warm and comfortable with all the things you needed such as a fridge and freezer and all the kitchen equipment you needed. Very comfortable bed and great shower. Ideal for the two adults and our 2 labs. Highly recommended.

Lovely rural location in a comfortable well appointed cottage

  • 5 of 5

The owners had clearly put considerable thought into equipping the cottage so that our stay was very comfortable and enjoyable. There was everything one could require for self catering, relaxing , but also enjoying all of the activities found in the Lake District. Because we had nice weather we spent less time in the barn then others who were less fortunate. Taking advantage of the location we discovered an area of the lakes, Loweswater, Crummock Water and Buttermere, which we didn't know and found beautiful. We could also imagine in less clement weather spending time in the lounge and beautiful, light conservatory. Really everything one could wish for in Lake District accommodation.

5* is not enough!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first visit to the Lake District, we left Oxfordshire at 4:30 am to beat any Monday morning traffic and to get the day at the lakes. We travelled through the Lake District from the south, stopping at Windermere to stretch our legs and give the dogs a break from sleeping in the car. Then carried on and stopped at Buttermere, where I decided that it would be a good idea to walk around the whole lake, only being 3 1/2 miles. All was well until the heavens opened, and I must say I've never seen rain like I did that day, I think at one point it was coming at us sideways! And being quite new to this walking holiday malarkey, our waterproofs were staying nice and dry in the car! Much to my husbands (and the dogs) disgust, I said we might as well carry on, and we did, even in the rain it was a beautiful place. We got back to the car dripping wet, I was in high spirits as I left a change of clothes on the back seat, my husband did not. So we carried on our drive to Ullock and found our cottage very easily from the directions given. My husbands spirits soon lifted once he opened the front door and stepped into a warm, clean, beautiful cottage. Everything out the car it was time for a shower and change, and oh my it is the best shower we have ever experienced, I didn't want to get out, it was my little bit of heaven, and it was not just the shower, it was the underfloor heating that made the bathroom exceptional. The whole cottage was immaculate, well equipped, decorated to the highest standards and beautiful, sitting in the conservatory in the evening looking at the views was just tranquil. Perfect after a days walking (with waterproofs in rucksack) but they were not needed, everyday was gorgeous and we explored Crummock, Derwent Water, Ennerdale, Ullswater, Pooley Bridge, Buttermere, lowswater, and even took the dogs on a boat for the first time at Derwent. If you are looking for a base for the north lakes, then this is it, you will not regret it, everything on your door step, a well known supermarket not to far, where we did our shopping, pubs, tea rooms, lakes, absolutely everything for an invigorating yet relaxing holiday. A perfect getaway from the busy town life, so quiet and peaceful. Not just the best shower, but the best cottage we have ever stayed in, and we loved the beautiful Lake District that we will be back, and I know exactly where we are going to stay.
