The Stevenson family have owned this barn for over 10 years. We previously used it as a family get away, now we want to share it with others. It has recently been re-furbished with a warm and welcoming feel.

Great barn, very homely.

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here as a short 3 day break and can definitely recommend this place to anyone. Location is quiet and relaxing, but also very close to local restaurants and trails to walk, namely the Dodd wood. The barn itself is very well kept and does feel like home, the local restaurant The Royal Yew was amazing and only a 5 minute drive. Overall we would definitely recommend the hilltop barn as it was everything we wanted and expected.

The cottage was warm, cosy and very welcoming. The Christmas decorations were a lovely touch.

The cottage is ideal for us as it is perfectly based for visiting relatives in the area.

Wonderful...especially for dog owners!

  • 5 of 5

Hilltop Barn was very easy to find thanks to the precise directions provided beforehand. It was lovely and warm, which made for a great welcome on a cold day. The barn is extremely well equipped and really comfortable. The owners really do seem to have thought of everything when getting the property ready for guests and the finishing touches really make it feel like a home from home - wonderful to come back to after a day out walking with our dog. Having the enclosed garden was also a bonus as dog owners, as is the fact that this truly is a 'dog-friendly' property (all too often we've booked properties that claim to be dog-friendly, only to find that the dog has to be confined to one room). The views from Hilltop are amazing and the location is perfect - we loved it!

Modern, clean and very well equipped

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic stay at the cottage over Christmas. We were visiting with our 2 year old and 4 month old and the cottage had plates, cups and bowls that were suitable for them. The cottage was warm and cosy and had everything you could need to make your stay comfortable. It was very peaceful and the bedrooms were very cosy. Morag provided us with excellent directions so we found the cottage easily. Will certainly recommend this place to friends.

Hilltop Barn

  • 5 of 5

A lot of thought had gone into making this Barn conversation very cosy and comfortable, making it feel like home from home. The water was always hot. The kitchen was the best equipped we had ever seen in a rental cottage and very comfortable to eat in. It was to cold to use the conservatory but it made the lounge lighter and had a pleasant outlook. The view from our bed in a morning was exceptional. Overall the Barn was just what we wanted and in the right location for a visit to Workington, Whitehave, Cockermouth and Keswick.

Just lovely

We really enjoyed our stay in the lakes and this gorgeous and homely barn conversion was perfect. Recently refurbished with lovely finishing touches, it has everything you need. Morag communicated well with us on our journey there and we had some lovely champagne chocolates as a welcome gift. Thank you for letting us stay!
