The Stables Holiday Cottage

Overview

Property

Updated: 23-Nov-2016
Cottage in Grewelthorpe, near Masham on edge of Yorkshire Dales, Yorkshire, England - Peaceful Location, short walk to Hackfall Woods Close to Ripon

Our lovely self catering cottage has been converted from period stables and is situated on the outskirts of Grewelthorpe which is in the Nidderdale “area of outstanding natural beauty”. With easy access to the many attractions that the area offers, we think this is the perfect place for a relaxing break. We have worked hard to make our cottage a super comfortable home from home, with high quality furnishings and attractive textiles to compliment the building. For heating and hot water we have installed a biomass boiler that ensures you can be toasty warm in the cold months with under floor heating whilst still being eco friendly. The water supply comes from our own well and doesn't contain any extra chemicals.

The Stables surpassed our expectations; it was spaceous yet cosy with the underfloor heating, very clean and modern and clearly a lot of thought had gone into its design, layout and artistic detail. We found everything that we needed for a perfect stay. Geoff and Val were ideal hosts and provided us with a wealth of local information on where to visit and eat out and the treats they left made us feel especially welcome. Although we were only able to stay a few days we definitely want to visit again to explore the area some more and have already recommended it to family and friends. Though our stay was short we thoroughly enjoyed exploring Harrogate, Rippon and Masham and have started a list of things to do for our next visit.

Thank you so much Geoff and Val for making our short stay a real treat.

Fantastic luxury cottage

  • 5 of 5

The cottage had everything we wanted and more. The living area was spacious but cosy and the beds were extremely comfortable. The extra touches were much appreciated; a home baked cake and fresh eggs both of which we enjoyed. Geoff the owner was friendly but not intrusive and we will definitely be returning in the future.

You'll not find a better Holiday Home!

  • 5 of 5

Over the last 20 years, both before and with children, we have stayed at numerous cottages, farmhouses, holiday apartments around the British Isles. Without exaggeration The Stables at Grewelthorpe would be our no.1! These converted stables are immaculate, imaginative and immediately instill a sense of calm and peace (even with the children!) The stables are spacious, fully equipped and furnished, and boast two modern en suite bedrooms. Plus a patio and, behind that, a back garden for playing a spot of football with sheep as fans! If you can prize yourself away from this perfect holiday home then its just a short drive to Newby Hall, Ripon and Lightwater Valley (adored by our two young sons). Geoff and Val thanks for a wonderful 4 days (and we didn't even mention the cake and bubbly!)

The description and photographs match exactly what you find inside this beautiful cottage. The home is maintaned to excellent standards and all the furnishings are clearly thought out to meet modern living.

Geoff and Val make you feel welcome by explaining the all the cottage's facilities and leave you at ease to enjoy their wonderful cottage.

The cottage is set out in the lovely surroudings of rolling fields and woods, there are many so many walks and magnificents views to be seen you will need to return again and again which we plan to do.

Beautiful accommodation, Beautiful location.

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a short, but very sweet, weekend stay at the stables. We have been on many short breaks over the years, and we agreed that this has got to be one of the most perfect holiday homes that we have stayed in.

The stables have been tastefully restored to a high quality and furnished beautifully. It was well equipped and very cosy!

The owners Geoff and Val are lovely people and gave us a warm welcome!

If you are looking for a peaceful and comfortable retreat, with lots to do in the surrounding areas, then look no further!

We hope to return....for longer next time!!!

Stunning Property, Wonderful Hosts...

  • 5 of 5

We had the most wonderful of weeks staying at The Stables, the property is beautifully restored with a real luxury feel. The owners Geoff and Val have taken great care to give a quality home from home feel, nothing is lacking when it comes to quality. Immaculately clean and maintained.

If you are thinking of visiting this area you need look no further. It is well located to visit all the sights. I guarantee you will love The Stables. The hosts are the kindest people you will meet and the welcome of a beautiful cake, bubbly, tea and coffee make it very special.

We Look forward to returning to use the BBQ and really take in the wonderful views in the sunshine. Five Stars!!
