This thoughtfully converted spacious thatched, stone and cob Devon cottage, adjoins the main farmhouse and overlooks the fields and countryside beyond. There are 2 huge bedrooms upstairs, with a separate toilet all on the first floor. Bedroom one has exposed beams and offers superb views out towards the open countryside. There is a king size bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers and chair. Bedroom 2 is a spacious family room, with two single beds, a double be, wardrobe and chest of drawers. On the ground floor there are beamed ceilings throughout and plenty of room in the lounge/diner, which contains a TV, DVD player, i-pod docking station and large dining room table and chairs. The recently refurbished kitchen includes a dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer, microwave oven, kettle and toaster. There is a large family bathroom downstairs, including a bath with shower. There is a pretty garden area immediately outside,, with a patio table for al fresco dining.

About the Owner

We are Martin and Sophie Goodall, we have 2 children called Martha and Will and we live in Treaslake Farm and run the on site holiday cottages and facilities we have here.

We have a selection of pets and animals - 2 dogs called Ollie and Sam, a cat called PussCat, Izzie and Jemima our friendly rabbits and a selection of hens, ducks, pigmy goats and sheep live here too.

We love living in the countryside and were lucky to take the opportunity of moving here only a year ago from Bristol, after spending many years holidaying in East Devon.

Clean, comfortable and well equipped

I had a fab week with my parents and 2 children, aged 6 and 7. The cottage was ideal and comfy and in a great location for the surrounding attractions. Treaslake itself had great things to keep the children amused, from goats, sheep, chicken's, rabbits and ducks to a play area, a games room, an indoor heated pool and a trampoline sunken in the ground, which was the the boys favourite bit. Thank you Sophie amd Martin for the fantastic hospitality and for the tip on Escot. We loved the Otter's.

Devon country cottage stay

We have just enjoyed a excellent stay with children and grandchildren. The area has beautiful beaches to enjoy but we also enjoyed the indoor pool and the children loved the play areas and animals and the chance to make new friends.

The cottage was clean, comfortable and well equipped and the owners were very helpful. A very good choice of holiday for all of us.

Ideal Family Holiday

We are a family of 6, 2 Adults and 4 small children aged from 11 years old to 2 months old. The cottage we stayed in was Rose Cottage and it was the ideal size with 2 very large bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with 3 x single beds, perfect for us. The lounge and dining area was open plan and large and Kitchen was adequate with all white goods you would need.

The play area, swimming pool and toys available to play with were enjoyed a lot by my children, as was the helping to feed the goats/sheep/chickens/ducks and rabbits.

The setting is beautiful and very quiet with local amenities a short drive away. It is situated perfectly for many lovely days out with the kids, ie. Crealy, Escot Gardens, Paignton Zoo, Sidmouth Bay, The Donkey Sanctuary and many more only a short drive away.

I would recommend this place to anybody with a young family. Only one draw back when we went was the owners, ( Sophie and Husband ), who are very nice and warming people indeed, went on holiday a couple of days in to our stay and the people who took over/covered we didn't find as warming.

All said and done though the place is very good value for the money and the kids loved it.

The Perfect Getaway

After a VERY stressful Summer contending with a house sale and move, by the end of September we were in need of a holiday! We had stayed in a cottage in Upottery in April and fell in love with this little area of Devon so when it came to booking we knew where we wanted to head to but with just a week until the date we wanted to secure we weren't sure what availability there would be.

We found Treaslake on Google and luckily there was availability for the week we wanted. The booking process via Owners Direct was very straighforward and Sophie was prompt in managing our booking. We initially booked Owl Cottage, however, this was double booked and so Sophie kindly upgraded us to Rose Cottage for the price we would have paid for Owl. We also wanted to bring along our little dog which Sophie said would be fine as Treaslake is dog friendly, we just had to pay a small supplement for him.

I was thrilled when we pulled into Treaslake, first impressions were really positive and I realised we'd found a little gem. It was exactly what we wanted... stunning countryside views and most importantly... peace and quiet!

Rose Cottage has been recently refurbished and it didn't disappoint, it was tastefully decorated, clean, spacious and very well equipped - I couldn't wait to settle in! We slept in the front bedroom which had a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside and it was a joy to wake up to every morning.

Sophie and Martin were very friendly and certainly made as feel welcome. The grounds were great for little walks with our dog and he loved saying hello to the chickens, goats, turkeys, sheep, ducks and rabbit on EVERY walk!

We were having such a nice break away from it all and loving the cottage so much that on the Wednesday we decided to find out if Rose Cottage was available for a second week. Sophie was really sweet and with some juggling was able to accommodate our request so we stayed on another week! We've NEVER done that before which should say it all really!

The heated pool was really nice and we used it a few times during our stay, it was also right next to Rose Cottage so we didn't really have an excuse not to use it!

We really didn't want the holiday to end but as they say, all good things must come to an end! We wish Sophie and Martin every success with Treaslake, it is the nicest place we've ever stayed at in the UK and we will definitely be returning in the Spring.

Idyllic, peaceful, magical for kids.

The cottage was beautifully appointed and spacious. The farm location is idyllic and peaceful whilst offering plenty of adventure and interest for the children (boys aged 4 and 2). There are the farm animals, acres of open space, a fantastic play area with sunken trampoline and a pool which is kept delightfully warm. Some days we just stayed put because we enjoyed being there so much. We ended up staying an extra night because we just didn't want to leave!

The location is ideal for exploring the coast and for trips wider afield to Dartmoor. Sophie and Martin were always on hand to offer tips for days out and for assistance with the cottage. We fully intend to book again.

After falling in love with the area, we bought Treaslake Farm and Holiday Cottages, moving from Bristol and since then have been working very hard to refurbish and improve all the cottages, grounds and facilities. We really are living the dream!!! The children are enjoying living in the countryside - helping care for the chickens, goats and sheep with their lambs. The facilities we have here are fantastic for adults and children - indoor heated swimming pool, outdoor children's play area, games room, level lawn for outdoor sports.

We love living here - within the heart of the East Devon countryside, yet within easy commuting distance, either by road, rail or air travel. Our property is in a beautiful, peaceful, rural setting, yet only 2 miles from the bustling town of Honiton, with it's array of shops (famous for lace and antiques!), restaurants and street market twice a week. We are only a short distance away from many of the best beaches and coastline of Devon and Dorset - from Lyme Regis, to Seaton, Beer, Branscombe, Sidmouth, Exmouth and Topsham. The historic city of Exeter is an easy 25 minute drive. There are numerous attractions and events within the local area, for all age groups and interests. We look forward to welcoming you soon!
