About Sophie Goodall

We are Martin and Sophie Goodall, we have 2 children called Martha and Will and we live in Treaslake Farm and run the on site holiday cottages and facilities we have here.

We have a selection of pets and animals - 2 dogs called Ollie and Sam, a cat called PussCat, Izzie and Jemima our friendly rabbits and a selection of hens, ducks, pigmy goats and sheep live here too.

We love living in the countryside and were lucky to take the opportunity of moving here only a year ago from Bristol, after spending many years holidaying in East Devon.

Sophie Goodall purchased this cottage in 2014

Why Sophie Goodall chose Honiton

After falling in love with the area, we bought Treaslake Farm and Holiday Cottages, moving from Bristol and since then have been working very hard to refurbish and improve all the cottages, grounds and facilities. We really are living the dream!!!

The children are enjoying living in the countryside - helping care for the chickens, goats and sheep with their lambs. The facilities we have here are fantastic for adults and children - indoor heated swimming pool, outdoor children's play area, games room, level lawn for outdoor sports.

What makes this cottage unique

We love living here - within the heart of the East Devon countryside, yet within easy commuting distance, either by road, rail or air travel.

Our property is in a beautiful, peaceful, rural setting, yet only 2 miles from the bustling town of Honiton, with it's array of shops (famous for lace and antiques!), restaurants and street market twice a week.

We are only a short distance away from many of the best beaches and coastline of Devon and Dorset - from Lyme Regis, to Seaton, Beer, Branscombe, Sidmouth, Exmouth and Topsham. The historic city of Exeter is an easy 25 minute drive. There are numerous attractions and events within the local area, for all age groups and interests.

We look forward to welcoming you soon!

Wonderful holiday in a beautiful setting

  • 4 of 5

Two adults, two burly boys and a springer spaniel had the most wonderful stay at Otter Cottage.

Welcomed warmly by Sophie and shown around the lovely accommodation (the cat having a sneaky snooze on the spare bed, did not make a repeat visit after clocking the dog!).

The pool, games room, trampoline and football were well used by our boys - we were lucky in that there were other lovely boys also staying that week - great fun was had.

Brilliant location, so many great places and attractions close by. The Otter pub was far too convenient and well priced - food, albeit not gourmet, is good honest pub grub and their 2 for 1 offer proved difficult to resist - especially as it is an easy, pleasant walk!

Only niggle was the chickens - lovely as they were, it would have been better if the chicken run was not located directly outside our bedroom window - not many lie ins had during the week!

all in all a nice stay,, however we will review in depth with all pros and cons soon

  • 4 of 5

overall we had a pleasant stay and out of season the lower pricing for this property would have been adequate, however , we felt that the pricing for this particular property was a little on the high side. decor is getting a little tired, some of the cleaning is lacking attention , we found cobwebbs in a dozen places, mould on the dishwasher and marks on the bedding which to be fair were possibly from being hung up on the line, the advertised games room was mmmm not,, table tennis bats with no rubbers or heavily worn making them un playable, billiard table having balls missing and cues with tips missing,, BUT a nice doll house and a great trampolin with a clean pool saved the week and we loved the sheep and goats which our children were allowed to stroke and comb.. the playground was usable, but again with bits missing and damaged. now then.. the property is in a good location with the eden project being only a 2 hour drive away. brixham harbour is worth a short visit too. dartmoor is very close and if you like hiking climbing or walking then becky falls is for you. we will do another review on trip advisor soon with pictures to put our niggles into perspective.

Half-term break at Otter Cottage, Treaslake Farm

  • 5 of 5

Our recent stay in Otter Cottage at Treaslake Farm was a huge success. Despite driving down to Honiton in the eye of Storm Imogen and through flooded roads, we were welcomed warmly by Sophie and were delighted with our very comfortable and well equipped cottage. Having the facilities of the indoor pool and games room was such a boon and they were constantly used and appreciated by us all.

We would have no hesitation in booking a holiday again. Many thanks to Sophie and Martin for great hospitality.

What a fantastic week away with the kids!!!!

  • 5 of 5

This is a wee gem right in the heart of Devon

Otter Cottage is stunning inside and has all the room we required for our young family of six, there is a lovely patio complete with table and benches out the back that opens up on to a lovely green which was just perfect for breakfast each morning and dinner each night.

We spent more time at Treaslake Farm than we intended to due the fun the kids were having there, swimming pool, trampoline, table tennis, football pitch and goals, play park, pool table and lots of chickens and goats to keep them entertained.

The village of Honiton was really nice with great restaurants, "The Holt" was fantastic. There is so much to do in Devon with a family of all ages, always something within a half drive.

Sophie was amazing, full of great ides for days out with the kids and the whole family are very friendly and welcoming.

We had to change our holiday booking due to a death in the family and Sophie had no issues with moving our holiday forward by a month, very accommodating.

We loved this Holiday and will definitely be back again. We drove from Inverness with 4 kids ages ranging from 1 - 12, 640 miles (I'm sure those of you with kids will realise that's no fun for the parents or kids), but we just can't see past Devon, truly an amazing part of the country and in my eyes Treaslake Farm is where you want to stay, Fun, Friendly, Beautiful settings and loads to do!!!!!

Our kids enjoyed this more than Disneyland Paris, honestly!!!

Excellent Cottage and Location

  • 5 of 5

A lovely quality clean cottage. Only 10 metres from the indoor swimming pool so ideally placed on the site. Lots of things for the kids to do in the games room. Only 5 minutes in a car to Honiton and 3 minutes to an excellent riverside pub in Weston village. Sophie is a lovely site owner (helpful and friendly). Would recommend Treaslake for anyone who wants a quiet scenic base in East Devon.
