Idyllic cosy country cottage with lots of character - sleeps 4

Overview

Property

Updated: 01-Nov-2016
Addingham - Peaceful location and surrounded by open farmland

Low Sanfitt Cottage is surrounded by open farmland and enjoys a quiet and peaceful location. The cottage is very comfortably furnished with original character and charm with exposed beams, wood lintels, flagged floor and includes a fireplace with a multi-fuel stove.

This is an ideal base for touring throughout the Yorkshire Dales, Bronte Country and the Vale of York. For walkers there are good country walks in the immediate area with open moors and fells just a short drive away.

About the Owner

Anthony and I moved to Low Sanfitt Farm in 2003. Whilst renovating our new home we lived in Low Sanfitt Cottage for a year. The cottage is attached to our farmhouse but enjoys complete privacy. There is a separate cottage garden and two parking places allocated for the Cottage. Once we had moved into our farmhouse we found that the cottage was rarely used. It was in 2005 that we first decided let it out so other people could experience the enjoyment of staying in this cute, cosy cottage for their holidays. Since then we have welcomed many happy holiday makers including walkers, cyclists, friends, families, honeymooners and more, many who have returned year after year.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"Second visit to this comfortable cottage. The weather treated us well this time. Lots of lovely walking and beer tasting - dogs going home tired out as are there owners!"

"Lovely little cottage, it was our first time in the Dales, we really enjoyed our weeks holiday. Bolton Abbey and Malham Cove were the highlights and we will definitely come again."

"Our fifth visit to Low Sanfitt! As comfortable and enjoyable as ever. Thank you again and again for everything."

Fabulous

Loved the cottage. The facilities were perfect for our needs. Our two Irish setters enjoyed the garden, orchard and field. Holly and Anthony were delightful and made us welcome. We enjoyed the brownies and and our girls enjoyed the biscuits in the welcome pack!

We would definitely return!

Beautiful, well equipped cottage

  • 4 of 5

Lovely peaceful, well equipped holiday cottage.

The only downside is it's a bit too remote for walking safely with our dog directly from the cottage, but the cottage itself was faultless. A perfect based for visiting the local area and beauty spots and there are plenty of those!

Definitely recommend.

Better than average. Would advise a summer stay as very cold in spite of central heating & burner.

Many plus points in this beautifully restored well-equipped country cottage and overall we really enjoyed our stay. Lovely setting too. Location great for walking.

However, the negatives were:

Downstairs bathroom with badly placed light switches so difficult to negotiate in the middle of the night.

Very cold downstairs, most of the heat from wood burner did not radiate into the room but went up the chimney. So not good in cold weather although the mezzanine was very cosy but no tv there.

Doggy smell in downstairs lounge, particularly rug and sofas, was a bit nauseating. We were out most of the day but sitting in that room in the evening was somewhat unpleasant.

  • 5 of 5

This cottage was perfect for our family 2 adults 2 teens 2 hounds

We visited Salts Mill, Harrogate, Ilkely and Skipton and walked Pen y Ghent all very close by.

Holly,Anthony& Edward were very welcoming the fresh brownies Holly brought around were the best ever

Little touches made the stay even better. Logs and coal for the lovely stove and a very well stocked kitchen

Thank you

Cozy comfortable cottage

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely week at Low Sanfitt Cottage. Holly and Anthony were very friendly and helpful, giving us lots of advice and letting us use their shed for our bikes and the trampoline in their orchard which the kids loved. We were welcomed by delicious brownies and a bottle of wine - a lovely touch. Although it was summer we loved having the log burner on chillier evenings. Beds were comfy, lounge was cozy and garden lovely and sunny (most of the time). Great location for walking, fab horse riding nearby. Thanks for a relaxing week.
