The property is not overlooked and is peacefully and privately located on the hill above Ceret and will comfortably sleep 10 in its 5 double bedrooms.
There are fantastic views from every aspect of the property with the best being the direct frontal view of Mount Canigou "The King Of The Pyrenees" that changes daily.
The Picasso made famous town of Ceret is a brisk 10 minutes walk where there is a great Saturday market and lots of shops boutiques restaurants and bars. The Mediterranean beaches are just a 20 minute drive as is Perpignan which is the régions capital.
The reduced tax shopping at the Spanish boarder town Le Perthus is a 20 minute drive and this is the Gateway to Spain.
There is an exclusive and fully maintained private pool with infinity views across to the mountains and hills and there are toilet and showering facilities in this area. Sunbeds with matresses and deck chairs are provided.
There is a well equipped outdoor kitchen with a BBQ electric grill and gas hot plate and there are 2 areas to enjoy outside dinning with tables and chairs again provided in both areas.
There are beautiful gardens at the front of the property with secure parking within the grounds for 4 cars.
There are bikes on site to explore the local terraine and also table tennis for those more active.
The house has approx 260 sq mts of living space so lots of room to cater for large groups.
I emigrated to France 14 years ago. My first task was to rebuild the 200 year old ruin of a farmhouse Mas Den Gariste. During my stay here I met, fell in love (sorry a bit cheesy but true) and married my wife Helene.
We live in a nearby farmhouse with our animals, 3 horses, 4 cats and our rescued dog Rockie. Anna my 23 y/o step daughter shares our home and life but is soon to start her own adventure with her soon to be husband in a recently purchased town house in nearby Thuir. My own daughters their husbands and my grand children and father visit us and this idyllic region several times a year, so I guess we are very lucky.

We have had 2 great holidays at this location and will return.
We thought the house, the town and the region were all lovely.
The house is airy and spacious, very well equipped, nicely furnished and extremely peaceful. The garden was perfect - we could always find a shady or sunny spot depending on what we needed.
The views of the mountains and the valley are sensational, especially from the terrace in the evenings. The pool was great for cooling off.
We were really taken with Ceret - the old part of the the town seems quite unspoilt and has a good choice of restaurants which we thought were quite reasonably priced. There were musical events on a couple of evenings which we thought was great.
Les Sargantanes is very well located in a very peaceful rural location on the outskirts of Céret. It is spacious and was more than big enough for our party of 6. The students in our party particularly enjoyed the pool with its spectacular, ever changing view of Canigou. The kitchen and bathrooms are showing their age, but function effectively and are perfectly clean.
We were warmly welcomed by Bob, who showed us all the important things in the house and recommended the best beaches in the area.
There is so much to do in the region, with its mix of historic sites, art, walking, food, wine and general relaxation. The area is very beautiful, particularly the Tech and Têt valleys and the Côte Vermeille. We discovered a number of walks, including the Balcon de Céret which be started close to the property and takes in forest, cherry orchards, streams and locations painted by Soutine, Picasso and other artists of the first half of the 20th century.
We had a wonderful two week holiday and won't hesitate to return.
We really enjoyed our stay in Ceret, after at least 50 visits to France over the last 30 years we are looking for the best area to buy our own holiday home in, and decided to explore the Ceret area for the week. We visited for the day in April, and got a taste for it. I doubt any other areas of France have such a great combination of amazing scenery, things to do and see, atmosphere and food.
The house was very well presented and huge for just the three of us. The pool was a great size and very refreshing when the outside temperature was in the mid 30s. Views from the house of Mt Canigou and the valley were spectacular and ever changing. We ate most of our meals outside and made use of the built in barbecue . The house is well equipped and comfortable, wifi worked faultlessly. We played Boules in the drive, which was good fun. The house is on the top of a ridge and isn't overlooked. We had planned to make use of the bikes at the property, but it was a bit too hot during our stay. We did walk into the centre of Ceret and back one evening, about 30 mins each way, and would happily do so again if came back. Ceret has lots on offer for a town of its size. We ate in the Bisbe one lunchtime on the vine covered terrace, the food was imaginative and well presented as well as tasting fantastic. On Bob's recommendation we booked L'atelier du Fred for a celebration Birthday meal for our son. You definitely need to book for a table in the evening as it's very popular. The menu is quite small....three dishes per course, but excellent quality and the service was extremely good for France. Interesting dishes, my son had a duo of squid and beef canalone.....which sounds bizarre, but worked really well.
Lots of good places to visit, we headed down to Figueras to the Dali Museum then across to the Costa Brava coast one day, and went to Perpignan another day. Perpignan is very pleasant to stroll around and felt smaller than we expected, will visit again.
We also visited a few castles and old villages, there is a tremendous amount to see and do within a 50 mile radius.
Bob did a first rate job of looking after us on behalf of the owners. He was very quick to respond to email enquirers, flexible in meeting our needs and very well organised. He knows the area well and is a great source of information and advice to help make the most of your time on holiday.
In summary, great house, great views....fantastic for outside living. Top quality location. very well run.
We were welcomed by our host Helene who explained everything we needed to know. The accommodation was clean and spacious. The views from all around the house were amazing. The location gave us the privacy and relaxation that we needed. The view of Le Canigou had a great calming influence and the scene chaged throughout the day, sunsets were especially spectacular. You can walk into the hills from the house. There are great walks all around Ceret. We walked for 3 hours and didn't see anyone else. A great base to see the south of France and Spain just the other side of the Pyrenees. Weather was over 30 degrees every day, so the pool was a great place to cool down. That second photo really is the view from the terrace by the pool. Worth it for the views alone.
We loved our holiday at Les Sargantanes and certainly didn't want to come home. We were travelling as a group of three families with five kids and there was plenty of space for us all.
The house is lovely, typical of the region and very well-equipped. The setting is idyllic - peaceful and private with amazing mountain views. All this and only a short drive to Ceret, which is utterly charming - brilliant Saturday market and excellent modern art gallery. There was lots to do in the surrounding area, although with such a large pool, gardens, table tennis etc we were just as happy to be around the house (once we'd completed the a boulangerie run each morning!)
My only niggle would be the bathrooms which could do with a bit of an update - the showers in particular, however this is only a small point and wouldn't stop us returning.
Bob and Helene were extremely welcoming and helpful which made for a very easy holiday. All in all, a great find!
