Villa in Mondron, Nr. Periana, Costa del Sol (Inland), Spain - Peaceful Location On The Outskirts Of A Traditional Spanish Village And Only 30 Minutes To The Beach

Case de la Abuela is a stunning private villa that sleeps up to four people. The villa is in show house condition and is situated on the outskirts of the beautiful, traditional "White Village" of Mondron. It is in a peaceful location with terrific views of the surrounding mountains, countryside and the magnificent Lake Vinuela down the valley. You are only 45 minutes drive from Malaga airport and 30 minutes drive from the coastal resorts and beaches. On a clear sunny day you can see the coast! The villa is very well positioned with Marbella, Seville, Córdoba, Gibraltar, Ronda and Granada all within a "day out". Mondron is also perfectly located of you fancy going skiing for a few days or even the day, with the Sierra Nevada in Granada less than two hours away! Mondron sits at an altitude of 610 metres, offering breath taking views of the Spanish countryside surrounded by mountains with views of Lake Vinuela down to the coast. There is a wide variety of fruit, almond and olive trees as well as wild flowers due to the region's subtropical climate. Mondron even produces its own olive oil locally. Although a small village there are two small supermarkets and an excellent tapas bar just a five minute walk from the villa itself. Periana is the nearest town to Mondron being only a five minute drive from Casa Abuela. Here is where you will find an abundance of typical Spanish tapas bars and restaurants, a good sized supermarket, pharmacy, health centre, banks, butchers, bakers, post office and other shops. Periana is known for its peaches and olives with the peach festival being celebrated in August. Lake Vinuela is only fifteen minutes drive away where activities such as sailing, windsurfing, canoeing or fishing are on offer. You will also find beautiful picnic areas around the lake to enjoy. Aquavelis Water Park which has 21 different rides and slides can be found in Torre del Mar which is only thirty minutes drive away. There is also a fabulous shopping mall including a cinema, restaurants, a very large supermarket and many fashion outlets such as Zara, Mango and H&M in Torre del Mar.

As mentioned above the villa is furnished to an incredibly high standard which includes a Bose IPod docking station, XBox 360, DVD player with a selection of DVDs and TV with a few UK satellite channels. The snug which is just off the kitchen also has a double sofa bed and a second TV with a DVD player....perfect for the kids when they need to get out of the sun for a little while. There is free WiFi during your stay and all linens, towels, beach towels and kitchen linen are supplied for your stay.

The villa has air-conditioning throughout making it an incredibly comfortable home from home, even on the hottest days of the year!

The villa and it's location is also a beautiful place to spend Christmas and New Year, with heating in the bedrooms and a gorgeous wood burning stove in the living area. The terrace on lovely sunny days is a fantastic place to eat outside and enjoy the winter sun!

Why Claire Lee chose Axarquia (Costa del Sol)

I bought in this particular area because it is only 45 minutes from the airport, yet you are in the most tranquil, peaceful area with tremendous views of both mountains and down to the coast with all the beautiful countryside in between. Mondron is a typical Spanish village and visitors are always made to feel welcome by the locals.

This area is so off the beaten track, but close to all necessary amenities and only 30 minutes to the coast....perfect!!

So Claire just a quick word from the Pledgers to say how much we are enjoying our time at your Secret Villa.

It met all our expectations and much more.

The Girls love the Terraces and the pool. I like the privacy the villa offers and can not believe it is so calm and cool inside while so hot out.

With the Wifi it allowed me to keep in touch with work.

We tend to wake around 9am and I'm cooking breakfast for all which is a big change to home as I'm gone a long time before breakfast starts!

We Lunch around 2pm laze until 5pm, then head towards coast for walks on prom and dinner in a beach restaurant. The Girls found the big shopping Centre yesterday to their delight and my pocket ;)!

This afternoon we are heading to Marbella for walking and dinning around the Marina!

We all feel time is going far too quickly as the Villa just manages to press all our buttons.

It's a real home from home, furnished beautifully with all the mod cons.

Every day has been blisteringly sunny thus far :)

Notes on accommodation: A welcome pack of essentials and food and water will be provided for when guests arrive....including a bottle of wine! So no need to rush out straight away to the supermarket! Outside: There are pretty gardens and pots surrounding the villa and terraces. There is a main covered terrace that seats six with a beautiful swing chair. There is an out door BBQ also on the covered terrace. There is a private swimming pool approx 6mx4m with sun loungers, table and chairs to eat around the pool plus a wicker L shaped sofa to enjoy in the evening while the sun goes down. Utility Room: There is a washing machine in the utility room with a large upright freezer. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All linens and towels including beach towels are provided for the duration of your stay and the villa is cleaned and all linens changed on a weekly basis. So if staying for two weeks there will be a mid week clean of the villa and all linen changed. Other: There is a covered terrace overlooking the pool with an outside BBQ and a lively table that seats six.

Absolutely stunning property located in a quiet part of a small genuine village. Our family was surprised to find the house even better looking than the pictures. You do need a car to get around and there's lots of great restaurants within 15 - 20 minutes. The restaurant in Mondron is very good and located within a few minutes by walking. If you prefer to stay at home the kitchen is nice and well equiped. We could'nt be happier with the house and plan to come back.

Just back from 2 weeks at this great villa. A great place to recharge your batteries, peace and quiet with great views of the mountains. The villa had everything you could possibly need as well as a welcome pack including a bottle of wine! Lazy days could be spent beside the amazing pool or just relaxing on the terrace. A car is essential but bigger towns can be easily reached for days out. The free WiFi is great never had a problem connecting. Claire is great to deal with always answers emails, calls or texts which is great peace of mind if any problems arise, she also has local agents on call & to meet you at the villa with your keys! If your after a relaxing get away this place is perfect. Thanks for a great holiday!

Ideal situation with amazing views.

We spent two glorious July weeks in this villa which exceeds its description and is equipped and maintained to an extremely high standard with the bonus of fast and reliable Wi-Fi. The ample space is enhanced by the mountain views. Two essentials - a car and a Spanish dictionary. This is a piece of real Spain with very easy access to Nerja and the coast. Definitely right at the top of our 'must go back' list.

Car: necessary

Coast/Beach:

The nearest beach is at Torre del Mar which is only 30 minutes drive away. Nerja is also a beautiful coastal resort that is very popular and this is under 40 minutes drive away.

Travel:

The nearest airport is Malaga and is not 45 minutes drive away. Car hire is essential.

Distances:

The village of Mondron is only 5 minutes walk away and had two small supermarkets and a fabulous tapas bar.

The nearest twin is Periana being only around 5 minutes drive away and has numerous traditional tapas bars and restaurants with a brilliant supermarket and other shops such as a pharmacy, butchers, bakers etc.... There are also banks, a post office and a health centre in Periana.

Further Details:

No pets or smoking in the villa please.
