A single-storey detached property, situated across a driveway shared with the owners, Tanrallt Cottage is set in a quiet hamlet with views overlooking open farmland. Bounded by a stream, our cottage is comfortably furnished and offers a double bedroom, large fitted kitchen, shower room and a large living/dining room. Patio doors open from the living room onto a small patio area with garden furniture.

Great place to stay

We had a wonderful stay here, the cottage was very clean and had all we needed. Also close to the coast. Karen was a fantastic host! We'd forgotten something personal when we left and she was kind enough to post it to us.

Very good stay.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The cottage is very well equipped and spotlessly clean. We could not have asked for anything better. We will definitely go again.

Peaceful, spacious cottage set in an idyllic location with friendly, helpful owners on hand.

From our initial booking, communication with Karen, the owner, was very good and clear in terms or directions and what we should expect from the cottage. On arriving, a friendly welcome awaited us from both Karen and her husband, who allowed us the convenience of arriving when we preferred. On entering the cottage, we found it to be absolutely spotless, with every room containing everything you could possibly need without being cluttered. Helpful notes were left explaining how things like the boiler worked and recommendations for local sightseeing were in good number - all contained in a neat box folder. The bedding for the foldout sofa-bed was very cleverly and efficiently stored so that you needed only to take out the pillows and the duvet in order to sleep - the bed having been pre made up. This was invaluable after a day's driving. The sun rose over the front of the cottage so that you could enjoy a morning coffee watching the sheep in the field opposite whilst a stream provided a relaxing soundtrack. The area itself is absolutely quiet with only the occasional train to give a therapeutic interruption. That said, the essentials are close at hand with the town of Born within easy reach and Aberystwyth being 15 mins away by car. The cottage stayed cool during the daytime and heated very easily at night whilst retaining its heat. The minimum stay of two nights is ideal for those able only to take a long weekend away from work - I will be returning this year at some point, such was the welcome and cleanliness of the cottage. Dôl y Bont is a wonderful little village that can allow the time to relax (in our case away from the hectic city life). Thank you to Karen and her family for making our stay so comfortable and being super owners 👍🏻 See you soon.

Activity and Interests

Two miles to Borth beach, approximately 5 minutes by car.

Birmingham International airport has a direct train service to Borth and Aberystwyth stations with onward travel to Dôl-y-bont by taxi or bus.

We recommend a car in order to fully explore the surrounding area. There are car hire facilities in Aberystwyth or if you drive here set your satnav for SY245LX.

Aberystwyth, the local large town with all amenities, is 5 miles away, and Borth which has beaches, supermarket, pubs, and restaurants is 2 miles away.

Further Details:

Aberystwyth is one of Wales favourite seaside resorts. Its Victorian prom spans both north and south beaches, a marina at one end and a clifftop railway to the other. The town offers a wide range of visitor attractions, including the Vale of Rheidol steam railway which links Aberystwyth to Devil's Bridge and its spectacular waterfalls.

More recently, the areas surrounding Aberystwyth have been home to the locations of the BBC Hinterland series.

Borth lies to the north of Aberystwyth. Its family friendly beaches lead onto Ynyslas and the Dyfi National Nature Reserve with its magnificent sand dunes. It offers a range of cafés, shops and pubs.

Machynlleth, the ancient capital of Wales is home to a weekly market and near to the Centre for Alternative Technology.

East of Aberystwyth, Bwlch Nant yr Arian is a Red Kite feeding centre with walking and mountain bike trails, and to the north, the Ynys-Hir RSPB nature reserve offers five miles of nature trails.
