About Michael Braidwood

I am in my mid 40s and have two teenage children. I work in the Club / Sports sector. The main attraction for me buying a property in the Cairngorm National Park was due to enjoying a number of great family holidays in the area. There is so much to do and definitely something for everyone. The area is so beautiful and relaxing that I find it a great place to recharge my batteries!

Michael Braidwood purchased this house in 2006

Why Michael Braidwood chose Inverness, Loch Ness & Nairn

I bought Sneuk Head in 2006 after experiencing many enjoyable family holidays in the Cairngorm National Park. At the time we lived over seas and used the house as a relaxing retreat and to allow my children to experience the great variety of outdoor activities on offer in the area. I used the house as a family home for one year when we returned to Scotland, it was great to live in the local area and learn more about what there is to do. Unfortunately work required me to move again so we now let the house to people looking to enjoy the local area.

As a family man who works in the Club and Sports industry I find the area a great place to relax and enjoy a variety of leisure pursuits.

What makes this house unique

The property feels remote, but it is very accessible being only 1 mile off the main highway (A9) and 1.5 miles from the small town of Kingussie which has a railway station.

Being in the centre of the Cairngorm National Park there is so much to do golf, skiing, cycling, walking, eating!, along with many heritage and cultural sites. The house over looks the Inch marshes which is a RSPA site so bird watching comes easily!

SUPER Stay in the Beautiful National Park

  • 5 of 5

Exceptionally well presented 3 bedroom house with all the creature comforts you would need for this to be a perfect home from home. In particular loved the wood burner on in the evening and the lovely views over the open countryside to wake up to in the morning.

We had a wonderful stay here, enjoying some peace and quiet away from city living. Perfect house in a perfect location close to amazing scenery, local wildlife to enjoy watching and popular local attractions to keep you entertained. Only a short drive to Aviemore for majority of the amenities.

Many thanks to the owner Mike!

What an amazing property!

  • 5 of 5

Myself and 5 others came up for 4 days to go climbing/mountaineering and what a trip we had!

The weather was perfect, albeit very windy, we have clear skies and sun all day. This did however mean we came off rather cold, but this wasn't a problem as the house was ever so warm.

The bathroom's are really well designed and the bath is huge, one member from our party is only 5'2 and described being link a pinball bouncing from end to end it was that huge.

The beds were incredibly comfy, so much so it made getting out at 6am each morning a real nightmare. It did however make bed time in the evening the best part of the day!

The property was very clean, a few specks of dust dotted around but, not the end of the world. The house is so well insulated that there was never a cold moment. I remember wishing I had brought shorts with me for in the evenings.

I will be recommending this accommodation to all of my friends, and by the time next winter arrives, I will be again looking to book into this property if it's available.

Even with a 20/30 minute drive each morning to Cairngorm, it was worth it. This has to be the perfect place to stay when visiting Scotland.

A beautiful house in an excellent place

  • 5 of 5

As frequent visitors to the area this is much the best house we have stayed in (helped by good weather!) and certainly matches the description. It is well and tastefully appointed and equipped and was spotlessly clean. The fine outlook to the mountains is a bonus. The information sheet sent before we went was comprehensive (though the parking are instructions are not the same as in the house)

There was much to do nearby with the Highland Wildlife Park, Museum in Newtonmore, sheepdog demos, and cycling in Rothiemurcus especially enjoyed.

The Best of Highlands..

  • 5 of 5

I am pleased to share my experience at this lovely house and would highly recommend this place.

The owner of the property, Michael, was kind enough to accept our request for a last minute booking. He also had top quality arrangements in place for our stay. My wife was highly impressed with the house and all facilities provided inside. Right from bathroom fittings to curtains to bed-linen, everything was top quality. The kitchen and bedrooms and bathrooms are very well equipped and the living room and dining area too are very tastefully done. This house has everything a family could need. There is absolutely nothing which is missed. From high quality equipped kitchen to washing and drying facilities to dish washer and hair dryer or even iron and ironing board, it has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Even big sinks to wash your walking boots as soon as you step in!!

The place is very well connected to the A9 and is in an ideal place for access to the 'best of highlands'. Local area and within 10 miles you will find everything you need for a smashing outdoor activity break. Most were kind to accommodate us for last minute outdoor water activities. Michael was kind enough to provide us recommendations of where to go and what to do. Special mention of the lovely old couple next door who were kind to give local area information when asked.

Google and Tripadvisor will make your stay more easier to access everything outside nearby or within highlands. But the house and surroundings are so breathtaking that you wouldn't want to end your holiday.

Very very impressed, I have recommended this house to my friends and community members in Preston and look forward to another Highlands holiday soon.

My sincere thanks to Michael for the lovely experience.

Excellent location, comfortable and clean property

  • 4 of 5

This is the second time I have stayed at Sneuk Head. Again the house was clean and very comfortable. Six of us stayed this time and we had a very enjoyable time. Splitting into small groups we went up the funicular railway on Cairngorm, visited the Culloden battlefield, enjoyed the Rheindeer centre and various walks in the area. Plus, four rounds of golf at Newtonmore (2), Kingussie and Boat of Garten. All three courses are recommended, with marvellous views at Kingussie. The "Boat" is highly rated - my favourite course in the area.

One or two small niggles - the oil boiler emits a powerful odour, especially in the morning or after returning when the windows have been closed and the mirror in the bathroom is far too low for someone 6'4" tall!

However, I have no hesitaion in recommending Sneuk Head and would stay again.
