Period Cottage in Dwygyfylchi, Conwy, North Wales - Quiet Village in Snowdonia National Parks, Lovely Walks From Garden Gate, 5 Mins Walk To Golf Club

Looking for cosy, romantic accommodation for up to 5 guests, then Warrandyte Cottage is the place for you. Our quaint little granite cottage has been recently refurbished to make comfort a priority without losing the uniqueness of a traditional quarryman's cottage. Fully centrally heated but with the addition of a new log-burner in the spacious lounge/diner the cottage is suitable for summer vacations or cosy winter breaks.

On the edge of the pretty village of Dwygyfylchi, with views of the sea, Puffin Island and Anglesey's shoreline from the cottage windows, there's no better place to access everywhere, quickly and easily.

Snowdonia's foothills wrap around the village with many tempting paths to explore, (one can be accessed from the garden gate.) The views out to Anglesey, the Great Orme and beyond are spectacular - this is definitely the place to enjoy stunning sunsets. Climb higher and the Jubilee track leads up to the Neolithic standing stones and menhirs, alleged to be the finest in Wales. The views along the way are breathtaking; buzzards soar above and on the mountains wild ponies graze, keeping an eye out for any passing hiker with the odd apple to spare.

Our safe, secluded back garden is great for the children and with benefit of being south-facing gets the benefit of the sunshine most of the day. A perfect place to eat breakfast, lunch or tea on our patio. (Garden furniture is provided for your use.)

A 10 minutes walk from the cottage, takes you to the local, blue-flagged beach; 5 minutes to the golf course and with 3 local hostelries serving good food there's no need to be a slave to the kitchen, although the temptation to eat al fresco in our beautiful, secluded garden is hard to resist.

There is a general store and post office in the village plus a petrol station below the village on the A55, just 2 minutes away, so you don't need to go far to stock up on all you need although a major supermarket is only 10 minutes away on the A55 at the Conwy/Deganwy junction.

North Wales is steeped in history with 6 Unesco heritage sites of interest just a short trip away. The main coastal towns of North Wales with their magnificent castles are so easy to access. Exploring them and the quaint cobbled streets that surround them is a delight for young and old alike. Historic houses and a multitude of interesting shops and galleries, there's so much to choose from. The beautiful Lleyn peninsula is little more than a stone's throw from Caernarfon - so much to see and do, never enough time.

The new adrenaline adventure sports of Zipworld, Bounce-Below and Surf Snowdonia, have to be on every thrill-seekers list of 'to dos'; again only a short drive away; even for gentler souls they are thrilling to watch. But for those who enjoy relaxing pastimes, there are talks and exhibitions at Pensychnant Conservation Centre, a gentle round of golf, exploring the hills around the village even taking the challenge of scaling Snowdon's peak or guided walks for the littleys on Conwy's nature reserve. The North Wales Zoo at Colwyn Bay is also a must do for the little ones.

Just 15 minutes away at Penmaemawr or Conwy Marina you can join in watersports whilst the Menai Straits power-boating trips can be enjoyed if you need that extra adrenaline fix.

For a more leisurely trip, a gentle boat ride around the scenic shoreline from Conwy harbour or Beaumaris pier gives you a chance to spot the dolphins and seals at play or watch the cormorants and puffins fly off-shore to dive for their fish dinners.

For the little ones there are many adventure parks and sea zoos to enjoy, again just 30 minutes drive from the cottage and when you're totally spent the beach calls - it's bucket and spade time. A 10 minute walk down to the beach and you can relax on the beautiful Blue-flagged beach.

Warrandyte has all you could ask of a perfect holiday - a world away from the stress of everyday life. It's got everything you could wish for to keep all the family entertained and yet gives the peace and serenity of feeling miles away from everywhere.

For the convenience of guests with allergies, we have a no pets & no smoking policy.

About the Owner

Andrew and I live in the UK and are recently retired but with boundless energy to spare so we decided to embark on a new chapter in life, sharing our beautiful cottage and our love of all that is Wales. Our family consists of 3 children, all married, and six beautiful grandchildren who share our love of the Welsh mountains, castles and beaches.

When our children were small the beaches were all you needed for a fantastic holiday but getting to Wales was a laborious task. Today, the motorways and ‘A’ roads mean getting to Wales takes little more than 2 hours from all the major conurbations of the north-west and central England.

Being Grand-parents we adore children so welcome families to our home, but in consideration for those with allergies, we have a no pets/no smoking policy in the cottage.

Peace and Tranquility

  • 5 of 5

We spent 5 nights at Warrandyte Cottage to relax at the end of a very busy family visit to North Wales. Christine and Andrew met all of our needs with friendly responsive support when we needed it.

The Cottage is fully equipped with everything a family needs from the kitchen, washing machine through to garden amenities. There is also an extensive collection of local guides, board games and dvd's. Internet connectivity and TV programming is great.

This is a great place to be based for Snowdonia as you can access the A55 in a matter of minutes to access Llanberis, Ogwen or Anglesey yet saunter down to the beach (go at low tide) in 10 minutes or stroll into Penmaenmawr for supplies if you do not feel like driving.

There are great walks from the cottage up Foel Lus (right behind) or up the Sychnant Pass to Conway Mountain or the Welsh Coastal Path. The views from the top are wonderful especially in dawn or dusk light.

We plan to use this cottage for future visits to this area.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for such glowing words of praise; we love sharing our perfect spot with guests and are delighted to know we meet your expectations. How incredibly lucky we are to have this stunning peaceful valley all around but yet be such a short distance from adventure, theme parks - everything that anyone could wish for yet so far away from the rush of life. We look forward to meeting again soon. Best wishes Christine & Andrew

The perfect getaway!

  • 5 of 5

This property was as near perfect as we have found. Having stayed in many holiday cottages over the years we have become quite expert in finding fault! Hard to find any fault here. It was spotless, extremely well equipped, with matching crockery, utensils etc., beautifully furnished with comfortable seating. In fact like living in a home rather than a holiday cottage. Location is exceptional with walks right on the doorstep, none better than the walk from the back garden up onto the hill behind the cottage. With Conwy only a few minutes drive away, also Anglesey, Snowdonia, need I go on! Contact with Andrew & Christine has been very easy & friendly with nothing too much trouble. They seem to have pitched everything just right. Thank you both so much. A real find.

Owner's Response: Hi there Anne & Andrew, Your comments bring a lump to the throat; thank you; also a big thank you for loving our little 'home-away-from-home' almost as much as we do. We could see that as soon as we came back - everything was immaculate and just as it was when you arrived. We have been so fortunate with the people who have chosen to stay at Warrandyte, maybe they can feel our love of the place but I hope they all take away fond memories of a happy time in relaxing surroundings. We look forward to meeting up again someday either in the UK or on our travels to you know where!! Keep in touch. Best wishes to you both Christine

Cozy cottage with a character

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is seamless combination of modern comforts and historical accents. It retains its centuries old soul that speaks to you through its fireplace, beamed ceilings and carefully selected items throughout the house.

Extremely comfortable and homely. Stunning mountain views to the rear and sea views at the front.

  • 5 of 5

Our family of two adults and two children stayed here in August 2016. Warrendyte Cottage is very warm, cosy and spotlessly clean. Christine and Andrew are the very friendly owners who have created a home from home place to stay with attention to all ages. The beds are comfortable, the towels are very good quality and the kitchen is well stocked with everything you need.Should you wish to light the wood burner, wood is provided also.

If you stay at Warrendyte cottage you will be in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park with an abundance of things to do and places to visit from blue flag beaches, historic towns, fantastic walks and for the adrenaline seekers Zip World is on hand.

Conwy town is a stunning 10 minute drive away through the Sychnant Pass. The town has a castle, good restaurants, a fantastic butchers and ice cream parlour so what more could you need. To sum up the cottage is fantastic and the location is perfect with mountains and beautiful beaches. Enjoy.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for your great review f olks, we so enjoyed having you stay. We believe Dwygyfylchi to be the most delightful & convenient village in North Wales; easy access to all the heritage sites, quaint towns and blue flagged beaches, stunning scenery but only a short drive for adrenaline junkies like yourselves. I know we're biased but so glad you felt the same and took away happy memories of your time in Wales. Once again, thank you for choosing to stay at Warrandyte Cottage, it was lovely to meet you all. Our very best wishes Christine & Andrew

Absolutely fabulous accommodation. Highly recommen

  • 5 of 5

This is simply the loveliest accommodation we've stayed in. My 7 year old thought it was the best house ever! The owners Christine and Andrew are a lovely couple and have put so much time and effort into making this a real home from home. The comfiest beds ever, beautiful bedding, fluffy towels, the welcome breakfast hamper, Lovely shower gels...loads of fantastic information and booklets on what to do on n. Wales including activities to suit big ones and little ones. Oh and the French doors leading out to a beautifully kept garden with stunning views. I could simply go on here. My 3 year old loved her little goldilocks bed. Such a well positioned cottage for exploring n. Wales and an easy walk to a couple of nearby restaurants. Wish we'd stayed longer. Thank you Christine and Andrew for a wonderful stay and making us feel so welcome and looked after.

A beautiful 'home from home.'

  • 5 of 5

We were met by Christine and Andrew, the owners on Saturday and had a lovely chat about the things we needed to know about the cottage and the area. There was a welcome basket of bread, butter, eggs, jams, orange juice and milk. There was also some tea and coffee bags so you could leave the shopping until Sunday if you arrived late.

The cottage was really comfortable, especially the beds. Everything you could possibly need is provided, including boxes of tissues in all the rooms, a lovely touch.

There are plenty of brochures, games, DVDs, CDs and walk books available. We were on a walking holiday and found that there were more than enough options for walks in the books and folders.

The cottage garden is delightful. Enclosed and a South facing sun trap. We had breakfast outside most mornings and a well earned cuppa after our walk in the late afternoon.

Dwygyfylchi is a good central place for the North Wales area. Plenty of places nearby to go on good and bad days. We had booked to go to 'Zipworld' at Bethesda for a hair raising 100mph whizz on the mile long zip wire, not scary just a great big thrill!

We went into Conwy to eat a couple of evenings, but the best food we had was at the Fairy Glen pub just a mile away up the road towards Conwy in Capelulo. Exceptionally well cooked home made food, big portions and very reasonable. We went there 4 times in the week! Alfredo's in Conwy was a good Italian restaurant.

We had great weather, great food and together with the lovely cottage and kindness of Christine and Andrew, we had a fabulous holiday.

From the Owner

Having spent the day exploring North Wales we diverted off the A55 and discovered the hidden valley of Dwygyfylchi. So often by-passed by visitors as they drive along the A55, it is a place of calm and serenity. Enjoying fabulous seaviews and cosseted by the Snowdonian hills we immediately fell in love with our 'little gem'. Such a quaint, traditional Welsh cottage yet amazingly spacious it immediately felt like home; like it had been waiting for years for us to find it. We just knew it had to be ours. It's proximity to all the famous castles and fabulous blue-flag beaches; we knew it was the right place for all our family and consequently for other families too. Within easy reach of so many exciting amenities we knew it would satisfy all ages at all times of the year. We have been proved right and love it more with each passing year. We hope you do too.
