Villa in Santo Estevao, Tavira, Eastern Algarve, Portugal - 10 Minute Walk To Village Including Cafe and Shops

Situated in the unspoilt, idyllic countryside of the Eastern Algarve, Vila Laurinha is approximately 30km east of Faro and only a 7 minute drive from the historic and picturesque market town of Tavira. The Spanish border is a mere 20km away. The villa is served by the local characterful village of Santo Estevao, with a shop, cafe, restaurant and all important ATM and Pharmacy. Beaches, golf courses and water parks are all within easy reach by car, as is Faro airport 25 minutes away. There are some wonderful walks and picnic spots to the north with incredible views of the countryside and ocean. The town of Tavira has a distinctly Venetian flavour and lies within the unspoilt countryside of the Eastern Algarve. There a variety of reasonably priced restaurants and bars serving both traditional Portuguese and international fare to suit all tastes and pockets. The daily fish and general market serves as its epicentre with the old Roman bridge dating back to the Roman occupation. The town developed by the Arab occupation and was conquered by the Portuguese in 1242. By the 16th century, Tavira served as a major port in the Algarve

Hidden gem

Very well equipped, everything we hoped for and more. We had a wonderful fortnight enjoying the villa and surroundings. Pool was fantastic, especially on hot summer evenings! More like a home than a holiday let. Local agent very helpful.

Two local restaurants serving excellent, very reasonably priced food, both within walking distance - one in Prego and one in Santo Estaveo. Tavira and Luz not far away both worth visiting. Barril Beach was gorgeous accessible by a narrow gauge railway.

Very unspoilt area, everyone we met was very friendly, can't recommend this place highly enough.

Vila Laurinha has recently been fully refurbished with new kitchen, bathrooms and all new furniture. The area is idyllically located away from the tourist areas and traps of the Western Algarve. The area provides a distinctly authentic Portuguese feel.

Activity and Interests


Beaches are plentiful in the Eastern Algarve, with Tavira beach the closest a mere 10 minutes drive


Faro airport is approximately a 25 minute drive. Car hire is not essential but recommended to take advantage of all that the area has to offer.


Santo Estevao is 1km and a 10 minute stroll. Tavira is a 10 minute drive to the centre of town and is served by supermarkets and a local market including a modern mall with shops, a cinema and food hall.

  • Notes on accommodation: 4 Large bedrooms all have en-suite shower rooms. 3 bedrooms have king size beds, with a fourth furnished with twin single beds. All furniture newly updated in 2015. Outside: A very large patio with swimming pool and built in BBQ. Extensive patio furniture is available including sun loungers and outdoor dining facilities. A covered veranda provides much needed shade from the sun. There is also a roof terrace ideal for the sun worshippers amongst us. Utility Room: Laundry area with washing machine, ironing board, iron and general cleaning utilities Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are included and changed weekly. Furthermore a maid service is included weekly to change the bedding and wash floors. Other: Spacious dining area with seating for 8 people. Highchair available.
