Villa in Santo Estevao, Tavira, Eastern Algarve, Portugal - 10 Minute Walk To Village Including Cafe and Shops

Situated in the unspoilt, idyllic countryside of the Eastern Algarve, Vila Laurinha is approximately 30km east of Faro and only a 7 minute drive from the historic and picturesque market town of Tavira. The Spanish border is a mere 20km away. The villa is served by the local characterful village of Santo Estevao, with a shop, cafe, restaurant and all important ATM and Pharmacy. Beaches, golf courses and water parks are all within easy reach by car, as is Faro airport 25 minutes away. There are some wonderful walks and picnic spots to the north with incredible views of the countryside and ocean. The town of Tavira has a distinctly Venetian flavour and lies within the unspoilt countryside of the Eastern Algarve. There a variety of reasonably priced restaurants and bars serving both traditional Portuguese and international fare to suit all tastes and pockets. The daily fish and general market serves as its epicentre with the old Roman bridge dating back to the Roman occupation. The town developed by the Arab occupation and was conquered by the Portuguese in 1242. By the 16th century, Tavira served as a major port in the Algarve

Vila Laurinha has recently been fully refurbished with new kitchen, bathrooms and all new furniture. The area is idyllically located away from the tourist areas and traps of the Western Algarve. The area provides a distinctly authentic Portuguese feel.

Beaches are plentiful in the Eastern Algarve, with Tavira beach the closest a mere 10 minutes drive

Travel:

Faro airport is approximately a 25 minute drive. Car hire is not essential but recommended to take advantage of all that the area has to offer.

Distances:

Santo Estevao is 1km and a 10 minute stroll. Tavira is a 10 minute drive to the centre of town and is served by supermarkets and a local market including a modern mall with shops, a cinema and food hall.

Notes on accommodation: 4 Large bedrooms all have en-suite shower rooms. 3 bedrooms have king size beds, with a fourth furnished with twin single beds. All furniture newly updated in 2015. Outside: A very large patio with swimming pool and built in BBQ. Extensive patio furniture is available including sun loungers and outdoor dining facilities. A covered veranda provides much needed shade from the sun. There is also a roof terrace ideal for the sun worshippers amongst us. Utility Room: Laundry area with washing machine, ironing board, iron and general cleaning utilities Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are included and changed weekly. Furthermore a maid service is included weekly to change the bedding and wash floors. Other: Spacious dining area with seating for 8 people. Highchair available.

Fantastic holiday - loads of space, great facilities and quiet location

We have just come back from a lovely 10 day holiday at Villa Laurinha (4 adults and 4 children ranging from age 7 to 15). The villa itself has so much space both inside and out, was really clean and very nicely furnished and well equipped - there was everything you could need. The ensuites to each bedroom is a definite bonus and all the bedrooms are very spacious.

The villa is close to the motorway and you do hear a minor bit of traffic noise but nothing that spoils the otherwise incredibly tranquil and secluded area - you can barely see any other properties and have a beautiful view across the countryside from the pool terrace.

The large outdoor terraced area was a big hit with all of us, enough space for playing and sunbathing, or sitting under the veranda in the shade when it got too hot! The pool is a really good size, although we were slightly unlucky with it being end of season and going a bit 'green' and cloudy - not that it stopped us from enjoying it every day, and it is regularly serviced by the pool man, but that is the only real reason we have given 4 stars not 5.

Jane and Darren were so helpful with our very minor queries and we appreciated the change of bedding and floor cleaning mid stay.

We loved Tavira (fantastic gelato and custard tarts!) and Barril beach, as well as enjoying really good value meals at both O Forno in Santo Estavao and Luis do Prego in Prego.

Couple of small tips for prospective visitors - you need to request the welcome pack in advance, it isn't there on arrival as standard, and the 'full Sky satellite package' wasn't working when we were there, just limited English channels from a European satellite.

Thank you to Terry for sharing your lovely villa, and to Jane and Darren for your help and local advice. We would love to go back some time, both to the villa and to the area, which is an unspoilt gem in the Algarve.

Minor issues but generally good

Our stay was generally very good. We had a few observations though. On arrival we found that the previous party had left at 7am whilst we arrived in the village in the morning but sat in the restaurant until 4pm awaiting entry. The welcome pack was partially in existence and the maid service never materialised so we washed our own sheets. We also found that for the two twelve days of our stay the restaurant, the only one in the village, closed two days after we arrived and re-opened the night before we left.

All that aside the villa was lovely, the area easily accessible to coast with amenities within close driving distance and we would recommend the villa to thers and go again ourselves.

Lovely Spacious Villa

Lovely private and spacious villa. Very well equipped with the luxury of a bathroom for each bedroom. The terrace and pool are fantastic - our granddaughters spent so much time enjoying the pool. A very peaceful, unspoiled and quiet area of the Algarve but with easy access to some beautiful beaches and the delightful town of Tavira. Supermarkets and restaurants nearby but you do need a car. A great place for a holiday.

Lovely villa with great facilities

Beautiful villa that was well equipped. Some traffic noise from the nearby dual carriageway but only noticeable on occasion. The local agents Jane and Darren were very helpful. Tavira is a lovely town, well worth a visit.

Beautiful villa, perfect place to relax

We had the pleasure of staying in this lovely villa for a week, we just got back home on Saturday. There were 6 adults and 2 toddlers and we all had a perfect holiday. The villa is beautiful, spacious, modern, clean, light and airy and tastefully decorated. The kitchen is huge, as is the dining room/tv area (although the weather was too nice to stay indoors!). Each bedroom had an en suite which was amazing as everyone had their own privacy and the pool was very big. The outdoor patio area was huge and the pool towels were a lovely extra touch. The directions to meet Jane at the nearby water tower were easy to follow and she and her husband were very helpful during our stay - not that there were any problems at all. The area where the villa is situated is nice and private, and it only took us about 15 minutes to drive to the beach (you have to get a boat to the beach but it doesn't take long), plus it's only about 30 minutes from Faro airport so not too much driving to get to your holiday! We are definitely going to book this villa again next year, we are all so excited about returning!! I would recommend this villa to everyone!
