Cottage in Parzac, Nr. Champagne-Mouton, Charente, Poitou-Charentes, France - Peaceful Location

Set in a tiny hamlet of only 3 residence's just outside the village of Parzac. The stone cottage constructed circa 1770 retaining many original features.. This house was constructed as a home not a converted barn. The cottage sleeps 4 (plus a baby) there is a separate bedroom (ground floor), lounge, kitchen diner and shower wet room bathroom. The second bedroom is a double on a mezzanine. This is quite a large cottage with stone walls, exposed beams and tiled floors with an original stone/marble sink left as a feature. The kitchen has recently been refurbished and has dinning for 4. The land is flat with ample parking, outside there is a large brick built BBQ within your own private secure garden of approximately 250m2. The land is fully secure which is safe for children. The cottage is set in a rural but not isolated location with local shops 5.5km away in Champagne Mouton. We can also provide a cot upon request for your infants comfort, a high chair and stair gate.

We believe your holiday is all about you and your family so we also provide the following services at a small charge: Why not have your shopping done for you so when you arrive your larder and fridge will be fully stocked which enables you to relax from the start of your holiday. We also provide airport transfers with a baby or toddler seat if required. We can also provide a taxi service. We can also provide a baby sitting service, Alternatively if you are looking to buy a property in France we will try and help you by advising you of our own experience and can put you in touch with trusted people to help you achieve your very own dream of owning a property in France. Sorry no pets.

Myself (Mark), Tracy and our two year old son purchased the cottages in April 2015 after falling in love with the property and surrounding views. After having stayed in many gites ourselves which were often not very clean and filled with any old furniture we thought who better to provide accommodation than ourselves as we have learnt what not to do and our aim is to provide our guests with a unique relaxing holiday.

Lovely property

Very friendly couple who made us feel very welcome - nothing too much trouble but were not invasive at all. Lovely property - immaculately clean, and a good size. Very quiet location - fantastically clear nights with more stars than I've ever seen! Everything was perfect. Would definitely go back, and will be recommending to friends.

Charming, peaceful, and relaxing

My husband and I enjoyed a lovely, relaxing stay at this charming gite set in the countryside above Parzac in the Charente. Mark and Tracy couldn't have been more welcoming and during our stay provided any information whenever we requested it. The location was great, not only for local walks but also for visiting heritage sites such as Confelons, Rochechoart and Oradour-sur-glane. The gite has been sensitively renovated, its traditional features enhanced but at the same time has kept in mind the expectations of guests with a modern shower facility, access to a barbecue and its own private patio and garden in which to relax. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to booking the gite again in the near future.

Charming and Peaceful Countryside Retreat

Upon arrival at this lovely holiday cottage, we received a really warm welcome from the owners, who we’d previously communicated with online and by telephone. The cottage is delightful, full of charm and character and in a lovely spot in the middle of the countryside. More importantly for me, the house was clean, tidy, comfortable and really well accommodated for our stay. The garden and BBQ were (VERY) well utilised and my children had a fabulous time looking out for the local wildlife in the pretty country lanes surrounding the property. Tracy and Mark were very helpful in advising us of local attractions and places to visit and, of course, where to eat! I would recommend this holiday retreat to anybody seeking a tranquil place to recharge their batteries and break away from the rat-race for a short while. Thank you Tracy and Mark – we hope to see you again soon :)

Charming holiday home in a special location

Received a very warm welcome from the owners after communicating with them online and by telephone (for directions and advice!). Delighted with the cottage, clean, tidy and very well stocked for our stay. The garden and its BBQ were well utilised and my children had a great time exploring the local countryside, especially searching for wildlife along the local lanes. Tracy and Mark were helpful and very accommodating, advising us of local attractions and places to visit and eat. All in all, this was a great place to stay for a peaceful and much needed break from the rat-race. We will very likely be back!

perfect little retreat in beutiful countryside

As a family of four we enjoyed our stay very much! Mark and tracey were perfect hosts, our children were allowed to play at their private little playground. As it gets very hot at this time of the year, we were glad to also be allowed to build up a little baby pool in the garden.

The cottage is wonderful: clean and tidy, beautifully decorated, cool when its hot outside, comfy beds, enough storage for clothes and other belongings, kitchen with everything you would possibly need, nice garden.

We highly recommand it!

The views are breath taking in a quiet rural location in a relaxing atmosphere with lots of beautiful places to visit. This is also an ideal location to explore from.

Coast/Beach:

The beach is just over an hours drive by car but is easy accessed as it is only one motorway drive with no toll charges.

Travel:

The property is easy accessed from either Caen or Le Havre ports approx. 5Hrs driving using tolls costing about euros 33.00. From Calais via car approx. 7Hr drive. For those wishing to fly Poitiers and Limoges airports approx. 75/45 minutes and Bordeaux airport 1.5 hours.

Distances:

The closest town is Champagne-Mouton 5.5 kms which has supermarket, fuel, bank and post office etc. and market day on a Friday.

We are only 30 minutes from Cognac with its brandy distillery's and 45 minutes from Saintes the famous Roman town which still has many fine Roman features remaining.

Further Details:

The closest bank is Champagne-Mouton 5.5kms and has a 24 hour cash machine. St Claud town also has two nice restaurants catering for most tastes at very affordable prices (aprox 11.00 euro's for a set menu).

  • Outside: Within secure grounds there is a large brick constructed BBQ and large patio area with large dining table, parasol and chairs all accessed via the rear kitchen stable door. There is also an outside light. The patio area leads directly onto the large private garden with beautiful plants trees and shrubs. Cleaning / Towels / Linen: Towels and bed linen are included. The cottage is cleaned prior to arrival however we would expect the cottage to be kept in a clean and tidy condition. Unreasonable amount of cleaning would incur an additional charge and breakages must be paid for.
