Warm spacious modern house in a quiet cul de sac above Harlech Castle. It is close to the historic Barmouth bridge, Mount Snowdon and the Ffestiniog + Welsh Highland Railways. Also nearby is Portmeirion, and Zip world/Bounce below, and obviously the World Heritage Site that is Harlech Castle! Ty Mefus(strawberry house) is ideally suited to either a large family, or family group where one party may require more privacy. Ty Mefus has a kitchen and dining area on both floors giving more accomodation flexibility than most holiday homes. There is a large sun terrace with BBQ accessed from the first floor lounge/diner and top kitchen area giving brilliant flexibility to both relaxing and catering...and don`t forget the large kitchen diner downstairs as well. Ty Mefus is ideally placed to catch the sun all day but especially so in the afternoon and for the spectacular Harlech sunsets!

The park is ideal for exercising your dog/s, the children or even yourselves and leads to the church and then onto the iconic centre of Harlech itself.

We do ask that all guests respect the World Heritage Site status of Harlech and also the peace and quiet that our friends and neighbours enjoy. If you feel you may not be able to commit to this request, then please contact us for more information or try and choose a more suitable holiday home in the Harlech area

We can even arrange, subject to availability, for our caravan to be outside Ty Mefus to increase the sleeping capacity by a further 6 people. This will however restrict parking at Ty Mefus, but there is a carpark 200 metres down the road.

Very spacious and couldn't have found a better location!

I chose this property because it matched all the criteria requested by all 10 of us staying there. It was exactly how it was listed on the website when we arrived. Very comfortable and warm. We loved the space in the living/dining room. very spacious to fit enough of us around both the couch and dining table. We spent our Saturday visiting the Harlech Castle and the stunning beach. Then followed that by a meal at the Tandoori House and some Karaoke at The Lion Pub. All recommended by Trevor and Sue :) Had such a great weekend so thank you for such a lovely stay :)

Very clean, well equipped and comfortable

I visited with some friends and we all had a very relaxed break. The house was very spacious and the surrounding area was a pleasure to visit. The castle is a real highlight of the trip and the people of Harlech are very friendly. The booking process is easy and Trevor and Sue are friendly, efficient and very helpful. We would love to visit again. Xx

Great property for a family holiday

This house is ideal for holidaying with extended family, with the extra kitchen space and wonderful roof terrace meaning we could all relax without having to be on top of one another all the time, but equally the fabulous dining table and outdoor barbeque area provided a good space for socialising too. We also enjoyed the close proximity to the park, and the fact it is only a very short walk through to the town and amenities. Harlech itself is a good base for exploring the area, as well as having its own amazing castle and golden sandy beach. Young and old, we all climbed Snowdon, the experienced climbers doing the notorious 'Crib Goch' route (christened the 'utter nutter' route by us!) and descending the PYG path, and the rest of us going up the Snowdon Ranger path. We also visited Dinorwig the Electric Mountain, and the National Slate Museum, both of which were either free or very reasonably priced and well worth a visit. All in all, a great holiday, and Trevor and Sue provided lots of extra information and assistance, along with lovely touches in the house such as leaving milk, butter and traditional welsh cake and beer - wonderful! Highly recommended for families young and old.

Brilliant house to stay with family.

It was easy to follow Trevor's instructions and we found the parking very good outside.

The house more than exceeded our expectations ,it was spacious ,bright and clean.the children enjoyed being outside playing on the balcony,and the adults could relax knowing hey were safe.we would be very happy to stay again,and we would recommend it to friends an family too.

Harlechs long dune backed sandy beach is 15 mins walk. other beaches such as dyffryn,barmouth and black rock (drive on beach) are a

short drive.

Travel:

Manchester airport is 2. 5 hours. Harlech has a train station and is well connected to many local attractions up and down the coast. It is also possible to connect with the local narrow gauge railways to take you to more inland destinations.

Distances:

Harlech is especially well placed within Snowdonia,most attractions can be driven to within 1 hour . Visitors who stay in Harlech usually visit Portmerion,zipworld,snowdon,ffestiniog and welsh highland railways,bounce below,greenwood forest park and more, or some are quite content to visit places within walking distance for example Harlech castle,theatre,pubs,restaurants,shops,beach,swimming pool,rock climbing wall,golf course,childrens play centre and slate quarry,bron y graig parc,church etc

Harlech is blessed with most facilities for such a small community. if you need more info. just ask as we and the children live up the road and know (nearly)all the special places to visit or experience. Mountain biking or cycling is nearby at mawddach estuary, coed y brenin, and the downhill trails at blaenau ffestiniog.There are also plenty of waiks from Harlech itself,up into the mountains, or along the 5km beach just for starters.

Ty Mefus is spacious and warm and ideally situated within Harlech in that use of a car is not necessary.As an upside down home of sorts it makes the most of its position. We are able to collect guests from the nearest railway station, and even offer the use of ourselves and 8 seater mpv for touring around Snowdonia for a small extra charge!
