Newly refurbished 3 bedroom apartment in Stresa sleeping up to 6 guests.

This is a 3 bedroom apartment sleeping up to 6 guests just a few minutes drive from the centre of the popular lakeside town of Stresa. The apartment was newly renovated with brand new kitchen and furnishings for the 2015 season. Inside guests enter into an open plan kitchen, living and dining area, equipped with brand new kitchen and dining table seating 6. There are 2 good sized double bedrooms to the rear of the apartment as well as a 3rd bedroom to the front of the property. These bedrooms share a spacious bathroom. All the bedrooms can be made up as either double or twin rooms. Outside, the apartment enjoys access to a small beach area, accessed via private steps. The lake is wonderful to swim in during the Spring, Summer and early Autumn months. The property offers exceptional value for money. It has stunning lake views and guests can even see the Borromean Islands from the property. WIFI. Private terrace area for al fresco dining. It can be reached using public transport from Milan Malpensa airport.

About Jo Mackay

I am a mother with 2 children, age 9 & 12 and a very busy husband! I gave up work with Procter and Gamble 9 years ago to spend time at home with the children. I have loved being able to spend so much time with them. However, with both children now at school, I was keen to start working again. I initially enjoyed managing two of our own holiday properties in the Italian Lakes which we bought in 2008 and 2009 following our first visit to the area in 2007. However, I have now started to manage holiday homes for others, not just in the Italian Lakes, but elsewhere in Italy through my website - I carefully select each property and ensure that I maintain that personal but professional service level that I believe holidaymakers are looking for.

I love this area of Italy. It's where my family and I holiday 2-3 times a year and it's an area that our children love. We love nothing more than spending days lazing on the lakeside and swimming in the lake waters. To have a beach area right across from the apartment to do this is a real bonus!

Notes on accommodation: Please note that the property is situated on the main lake road and some traffic noise may be heard in the property. However, the main sleeping rooms have been arranged to the rear of the property to ensure that sleep is not disturbed by any passing traffic. Outside: The apartment has access to a private beach area just across the road. There is also a private terrace area to the rear of the apartment equipped with table and chairs for al fresco dining, as well as a balcony running along the front and side of the property. This balcony enjoys wonderful lake views. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen and towels are provided. The property is thoroughly cleaned ahead of your arrival. Additional cleaning can be arranged during your stay if required. Please ask for more details.

Great villa - had a wonderful stay

Excellent communication during reservation and on arrival. Pictorial directions to villa were a great idea and very simple to follow. Villa was immaculate, exactly as described and very very comfortable. Some great touches like condiments, dishwasher tabs, cleaning supplies, rubbish bags in abundance for as and when required.

Magnificent views from windows was something I looked forward to each and every morning.

Good supply of literature and advice given regarding the local area, restaurants, sightseeing, attractions etc.

Any downsides ??

- a little remote for restaurants etc. driving required

- Don't expect the private beach to be exclusively private. Local fishermen treat it as there own in the evenings but are courteous and pleasant - ok if you can live and let live.

- Road outside is the main route between towns along the lake and can be noisy during day. Care is required as you pull out the driveway or crossing the road to the beach. You would definitely want your pet on a lead or to hold your child's hand. Having said that if you like watching motorbikes roar past, the kitchen is a great view point !!!!

Would we stay again ? Absolutely without hesitation, a splending week.

Coast/Beach:

The nearest beach is a beach area accessed by private steps literally across the road from the apartment. You will find plenty of other beaches dotted around the lakeside. There is a public beach at Lesa and also a sports club with a swimming pool, tennis courts and gym. There is also an open air swimming pool, tennis courts, beach and snack bar on the lakefront at Meina. Water sports are also on offer here including windsurfing and wake boarding. Or there is a superb lido and adventure at Baveno.

Travel:

The nearest airport is Milan Malpensa which is approximately 40 minutes away by car. Other airports include Milan Bergamo and Milan Linate. Car hire is advised in order to make the most of your stay. But there is a bus stop directly outside the property allowing guests to get about using public transport. Guests can catch the Alibus directly from the airport to the apartment. It is advised to book this at least 24 hours in advance to ensure availability.

Distances:

The popular town of Stresa is just a few minutes drive along the road.

Further Details:

The property is perfectly placed for visiting Stresa & the Borromean Islands, or to catch a boat to the other wonderful towns and villages on the lake including Cannobio, Ascona, Locarno and Luino. A great day out is the Lake Maggiore Express by boat up to Ascona and Locarno where you take the '100 Valley' train into the Swiss Alps. It's a trip that can be done in a day or over a couple of days. Also in Switzerland, Valle Verzasca is worth a visit. You can visit the Verzasca Dam which features in Goldeneye. The setting is idyllic. You can also use the property as a base to visit Lake Como or Lake Orta. Orta San Giulio is definitely one of the prettiest villages on any of the Italian Lakes. Or you can catch a train into Milan and go shopping. It's a short metro train ride to Santa Maria delle Grazie and Da Vinci's painting of 'The Last Supper.' If you're more of a sports fan, you can take a tour of San Siro stadium. For cheaper shopping, Luino boasts the biggest weekly market in Europe. Or you could have a look at Foxtown, an outlet centre where the most famous brands offer their products at factory prices. The nearby Mottarone is ideal for hiking. The scenery and nature is fabulous. Most of the nearby mountains also have tracks for mountain bikes. You can also enjoy plenty of other sports there including skiing in the winter, hand-gliding and parascending. The area offers plenty to do for children - Swissminiatur, the Alprose Swiss chocolate factory and the European Museum of Transport. The Mottarone is also a great place for children with an alpine bob sleigh! There is also a superb adventure park for children in Baveno. Or you could try your hand at falconry or visit a safari park! There is a huge waterpark near Milan. Water sports such as sailing, surfing and water skiing are provided at Club Nautico in Stresa. Here you can hire boats or have your own boat brought into the water and anchored.
