House in Elie, near St Andrews, Fife, Scotland - Central Location, Close To All Amenities, Extremely Comfortable With Plenty Of Space Inside And Out

Toll Green House is a handsome town house with lots of light and space. Its been a family holiday home for many years and has recently become available to rent. It is ideally located just a couple of minutes walk from the beach and also the shops, cafes and pubs in the centre of Elie. It is on a quiet side street and looks over a lovely walled garden over the road to the front and various gardens to the back.

The house is very well equipped and comfortable with hotel quality bedding and towels supplied. The owners have thoughtfully left guests tea/coffee, oil etc and dishwasher tabs, washing liquid, hand soap well. So for people staying for a short time they don't need to go to the bother of buying these things in.

This house is a perfect place to spend a family holiday in Elie.

About the Owner

The house has been in the Reid family for almost 40 years. Mr Reid has handed over the management to his children who now use it as a holiday home too. It has great memories for the family and they look forward to using it and also letting others enjoy it to.

Madeira In Fife (Jamie and Tara) manage the house on a day to day basis for the family as they all live too far away to manage it as a holiday let. We live locally and can be contacted 24 hours a day. However, we strive to have everything just right so you have nothing to worry about during your stay.

a great holiday house for the larger family...

this was a marvellous experience for the whole family! our 9 children range from 19 to 6 months, and everyone enjoyed it. firstly it was REALLY clean, better than we have come to expect over the years. then the eating area in the kitchen was spacious with a HUGE table, so no squashing or eating in shifts... The garden is larger than the photos indicate, and the on street parking was never a problem, even when we hired a second car... the facilities all around were excellent, and comfortable, and Jamie is really helpful! Many many thanks...

Perfect family break (including dog !)

The perfect location is so important and this was it ! A spacious house minutes from shops, pubs, beach, deli etc etc ! Very relaxing ambiance and great support from Jamie and Tara on arrival and departure. We are a family of six with kids aged 21, 18 and 13 and a Lab. Everyone agreed that we will return !

Lovely house in a superb location in a great town

Finding a house in this lovely part of the world that meets the needs of me and my family of 4 and extended family of 4 never easy. Toll Green house does just that. A Beautiful traditional townhouse, literally a minutes walk from a lovely beach and in the opposite direction shops, pubs and golf course. Plenty of parking and easy to get to with a bus stop right outside for visits to Anstruther and Craill. The house itself is on three floors with spacious bedrooms, the stairs raised no concerns for my 6 year old and his friends. Again on the ground floor my adventurous 6 year old had plenty of space to run around especially in a very secluded and secure courtyard which is also linked to a good sized kitchen / dining room via the back door. Two lounges, the upper lounge allows the kids their 'cinema' TV games time in their own space while adults can pursue other activities notably relaxing. Park your car, put your keys away and enjoy this lovely house.

Traditional Elie cottage for beach & golf

Lovely refurbished but original beach house. An old Fishermans cottage kept in the family for many generations and now completely refurbished. The cottage was perfect for our golfing weekend. It provides easy access to the courses of the East Neuk, whilst also being excellently situated in Elie for local facilities. (shops, bars & restaurants). Will be booking again next year.

Its a really pretty town house, very well located with all the amenities a family could want while on holiday. There is plenty of room for two families, an extended family or group of friends.

Nearest Airport : Edinburgh at 50 Miles Nearest Barpub : at 20 Metres Nearest Golf : Elie at 500 Metres Nearest Train : Markinch at 20 Miles Nearest Restaurant : Sangsters at 20 Metres Nearest Beach : Elie at 20 Metres Car: recommended


Elie has a wonderful 2km stretch of beach which is safe to swim from and which has views over to The Bass Rock and East Lothian beyond. The Elie Water Sports centre has sailing, wind surfing and lots more for kids and adults a like.

All along the coast within 12 miles there are numerous lovely beaches and sea side / fishing villages to visit. It a very popular holiday destination because there is so much to see and do.


Edinburgh airport is 50 mins away, Dundee is 60 mins away and Perth airport is 70 mins away.

The nearest train station is Marchinch which is a 25 minute drive


St Andrews is 12 miles away

Edinburgh is 40 miles away

Dundee is 40 miles away

Elie has a great deli where you can get hot and cold food, warm breakfast rolls and pastries, wines and spirits and much more.

Ardross Farm shop, just a couple of mins drive up the road (or a 30 min walk along the Coastal path) was voted Farm Shop and UK retailer of the year 2014. Its fantastic and beware you always spend more in there than you intend!

There are loads of cafes, restaurants and pubs close by and East Fife is known for its tasty, innovative food.

  • Notes on accommodation: The house has undergone some recent refurbishment and is therefore very comfortable. There is plenty of hot water from the new boiler and the showers are powerful. The owners have thought of everything you may need during your stay and have made the house a lovely place to spend a family holiday or couples get away Outside: French doors lead to a good sized and sheltered patio with a lawn to one side. It is a mature garden with some lovely plants and shrubs. There is a bistro type table that sits 4 people in a sunny spot to the west and ample dinning space as well. Utility Room: Just off the kitchen is the utility room with a new washing machine and plenty of space to wash and dry clothes and beach equipment. A new boiler has been installed and so the is hot water for the all important shower after being in the water. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The house has hotel quality linen and towels provided. If you require a clean during your stay you can ask for this when booking and pay locally. We can also help if you need to find other services locally e.g. a chef, baby sitter etc Other: The dinning area is off the kitchen and has seating for 10 plus an arm chair to while away the day. There are hundreds of books in the house to choose from and you must feel free if you have started a book to take it with you.
