Fabulous property in a great location

  • 5 of 5

As a group of friends and a well behaved dog, we had a fantastic long weekend at Cliffhanger in March. The property is stunning with a magnificent winding staircase leading all the way up to the roof terrace, where the views over Cowes and the Solent are fantastic. The owner Chris was very easy to deal with and immediately sorted a minor hiccup following our arrival. The bedrooms can be set up with either twins or doubles, which is very convenient and the kitchen wants for nothing.

I can imagine the property is in high demand through the summer months, with its location giving a great view of the sailing yachts and larger ships entering and leaving Southampton. Guess the length and tonnage was a great game to play sitting on the terrace or balcony.

Just one enhancement, might be the introduction of wifi boosters to the top and bottom floors. A simple fix, which would support streaming to the lounge tv and browsing on the roof terrace, searching for the name of the passing ships.

We would highly recommend Cliffhanger and may well return in the near future.

Fabulous views of the harbour and Spinnaker Tower

  • 5 of 5

The property was clean and bright and well laid out. It is set over 5 floors, so keeps you fit - more than made up for by the views from the upper rooms. The large dining room made family meals relaxed and comfortable and the kitchen on the same floor made serving and clearing easy. Situated so centrally that takeaways, restaurants and shops were all 5 minutes away. A great house and location, thank you.

Tall, slim, elegant townhouse with superb views

  • 5 of 5

Fabulous position a few minutes walk above the Regatta Centre. The views from the roof terrace are to die for. Five good double bedrooms, three ensuite and a stylish family bathroom. Well equipped kitchen across the landing from a terrific dining room. The lounge is not the drawing room commensurate with a house of this style, but the roof terrace and rear patio would compensate in good weather. The full height spiral staircase is absolutely magnificent but you need to be fit and sure footed. We had a wonderful weekend. The owner could not have been more helpful.

Owner's Response: Delighted these guests had a wonderful week end and enjoyed the fabulous position and accomodation of this superb period house. Appreciate the comments about the lounge and it's seating for 10 but there is the benefit of an entrance reception, dining room and kitchen diner which is great when you want somewhere quiet to work or read a book. I hope they will come and stay again.

New Year in Cowes

  • 5 of 5

Just back from a fabulous stay at Cliffhanger, cerebrating New year with a party of 10 friends. The house is located, just a few minutes walk from the main Cowes High Street and was perfect for us. Being spacious and very well equipped; it fulfilled all of our needs. Its tough to find such a high quality house with 5 good double bedrooms and a fantastic location. With New Year becoming a tradition for our group; this has to be one of the best ever. The owner is very very easy to deal with; responded very promptly to all communications and was a pleasure to deal with. I would highly recommend this property, you will not be disappointed.

Fantastic house in great location

  • 5 of 5

This is probably the best holiday rental house we have stayed in. Loads of space for two families (ten of us in total). House was very clean, well furnished and warm. Excellent location - five minutes walk into centre of Cowes.

Communication with Chris was prompt and easy. We would thoroughly recommend this property.

Richard and Jenny Eley.

Special interest holidays:

Cliffhanger is located on the edge of Cowes old town in this famous yachting centre on the lovely Isle of Wight. Situated above the town, it enjoys panoramic views and is only a few minutes walk from the yacht marinas, shops and restaurants of the high street and tennis courts of Northwood Park.

The Isle of Wight has a multitude of attractions and offers everything you could want for the family and groups of friends, such as Robin Hill, Blackgang Chine and the Needles Pleasure Park to the historical Osborne House (home of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert) and Carisbrooke Castle (where Charles 1st was imprisoned). The beautiful coast and rural environment are all there to be discovered by foot, bike, car or yacht with easy access to coastal paths and cycle routes from the house.

There are so many varied events to enjoy on the island. Winter is a particularly good time to discover the Island, enjoy a long walk or bike ride followed by a cosy pub lunch or visit the many attractions which are generally quieter in the winter months.
