The open plan living room /dining room/kitchen has fine country views on 2 sides. Steps from the breakfast terrace lead down to the private swimming-pool, sun terrace, BBQ area and garden terrace below. There is a log-burner for winter months, and air-conditioners in the bedrooms for the hot summer. Good unallocated parking is available just outside. All the facilities of the busy market town of Sao Bras de Alportel are just minutes drive away; the nearest restaurant (of many in the town and area) is a few hundred metres. Wifi is available by arrangement with the owners

About Robert or Manuel

A UK based couple (British & Portuguese) we purchased this lovely villa Casa Vista Bonita on the eastern edge of central Algarve, in 2015, to use as our part-time home over the coming years. We were attracted by its simplicity, and peaceful but not isolated location

Built in 1985 originally as a holiday villa it belonged previously to a Portuguese couple who lived here all year round and it reflects a Portuguese flavour so many holiday villas seem to lack.

It is now also available for lettings to careful and respectful holiday guests; we hope you enjoy it as we do.

Why Robert or Manuel chose Algarve

In a country location but not isolated - with distant views across the valley to the wooded hills and beyond to the more distant cork valleys - the villa is situated away from the hustle and bustle of the developed coastal resorts. Yet it is within reach of the beaches and attractions of the eastern and central Algarve, while being within striking distance of the west.

An easy 20 minute drive from Faro Airport, Sao Bras de Alportel is a pleasant working town located between the historic towns of Tavira about 20 minutes east, and Loule about 12 minutes west.

All domestic needs are catered for at a large supermarket some 3 minutes drive from the house, while “Sao Bras” – with its banks, shops, cafes, restaurants and civic amenities, is just minutes beyond.

What makes this villa unique

The breakfast terrace facing east for the morning sun, looks over the swimming pool terrace below, and provides welcome shade on long, hot days. Inside, a dining area adjoins the simple fitted kitchen with secure open-air utility area.

The spacious living area (with woodburner for cool winter evenings) has a window & Juliet balcony with views across the valley. A covered entrance porch from the car park opens into the hallway with cloakroom. Marble stairs lead down to the 2 twin bedrooms (with aircon & wardrobes) and family bathroom. These look out onto a lower terrace with vines, flowers, a fig and and a lemon tree. The sheltered upper pool terrace has a BBQ, and external steps lead back up to the breakfast area.

Notes on accommodation: A car will be needed for this property. There are steps to enter, and inside and outside the villa to access the pool and terraces and bedrooms 2 & 3. WIFI is available from 2016 by arrangement with the owners. Free Wifi is available bin most local bars/restaurants and cafes. Please note that smoking is completely forbidden inside the house. Outside: Dining table & chairs are provided on the breakfast terrace and on the pool terrace, with sun-loungers & umbrellas. There is natural shade during the day on parts of the terraces and under the lemon tree There is a BBQ for your use (some utensils provided). The (serviced) pool is oval, roughly 15m x 10m (?), it is 0.9m -1.9 m deep, with steps at the shallow end (no handrail). Please note diving is forbidden. The pool is not heated. Utility Room: Secure enclosed outdoor drying area. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen and towels are provided ( and fresh are supplied for longer bookings) - guests to supply pool/beach towels Other: Table & chairs on breakfast and pool terraces, sun-loungers & sun-umbrellas, terraces with natural shade

Villa Casa Bonita

I found the villa to be as descibed and pictured and all amenities listed were available. The pool was cool and refreshing in the mid afternoon heat. The villa was well equipped and situated in a quite location with easy access to supermarkets and local attractions. The restaurant Horta is well worth a visit and is reasonably priced - the turkey in mushrooms was a particular favourite of mine.

Ana the property manager was very efficient dealing with any minor issues and arranging the linen and towel changeover. The pool was also checked several times throughout our stay.

The only gripe my teenager daughters had was not having access to 24/7 internet, they did walk down to the local café/restaurant and use their free wifi and the box is available to top up with credit.

I would recommend a visit to Tavira the old fishing village was lovely and only about 20-30 minutes drive away.

The beach at Albufiera and Quartiera are well worth a visit.

But all in all a very relaxing and scenic holiday.

Owner's Response: Great to know you found everything you needed and more besides! Tavira is indeed beautiful, and not far to travel. The wifi arrangement is a deliberate compromise - availability if/when you need it at home using the mobile wifi, but with free and limitless use at the local cafe(s). Some guests decline the mobile wifi in order to be " free" while on holiday, while others even like to take it to the beach. Thank you for the feedback!

Wonderful Villa for a Family HolidY

Casa Vista Bonita is a great place for a relaxing holiday.

The Villa is very spacious and very well maintained both internally and externally.

The pool is a great size and was very much appreciated as it was extremely hot during our stay. There is plenty of sun and shade during the day, ideal when travelling with children. Although there are other villas around, it felt very private.

The owners, together with the management team were very helpful, all communication was very prompt before, during and after our stay.

I would definitely recommend a stay at Casa Vista Bonita and we would consider coming back again if we come back to Portugal.

Great location relaxing family holiday

Thank you for a wonderful stay in your villa. We happened to choose a very hot time to visit, which made a pleasant change from the UK weather we left behind ! The swimming pool was perfect for the whole family to cool down in.

We ate fresh figs from the garden for breakfast most days, found some charming restaurants close-by and thought Sao Bras offered a lot of what we needed.

Would thoroughly recommend this property to families.

Relaxing get-away

Having spent a most pleasant 10 days at this comfortable villa, we have no hesitation in recommending it to family and friends, as well as looking forward to a return visit one day. Even in Mid-October we had some lovely sunny days and were able to have refreshing dips in the inviting swimming pool. The villa is stylishly decorated, well equipped and clean. Ana, the property manager spoke excellent English and was very helpful. We found the food at the local restaurant Horta to be both excellent value and quality. Sometimes we did cook in the villa and we especially enjoyed fresh lemon juice from the tree in the garden on our pancakes! :)

Owner's Response: The 2 lemon trees have been prolific in 2015 and we hope guests in future years will also have a ready supply of fresh fruit! Sunshine is less in our control though the Algarve has a reputation for sunshine even when the days get short. A short drive takes you to many excellent and inexpensive restaurants; Horta restaurant you can stroll to and is always worth a visit - as you can tell by the number of cars parked outside; sometimes it pays to get there early!

Staying at Casa Vista Bonita

As a couple who have travelled extensively around the world and, even though we have never before visited Portugal, we were not expecting to be surprised by the accommodation or environment, and were looking forward to a relaxing break from work. However, we were very pleasantly surprised that the villa exceeded our expectations in every respect. Not only does it have all the facilities so accurately described in the listing, but they are provided in a style and spaciousness that is impressive, comfortable and serviceable. The villa was spotless, and we had honest and sincere contact with both the owners and local agent, who visited several times to catch us in and to make sure that everything was satisfactory.

The villa is well located in a quiet and respectable area close to Sao Bras, within easy driving distance from the airport and with good local amenities, including restaurants, cafes garage and shops, only a few minutes away. This gave us plenty of flexibility, allowing us choice to eat out or find plenty of local produce to prepare at home in the well-equipped kitchen and to eat on the spacious terrace with views across the river valley.

We found the pace of life and the rural charm of the Algarve in October to be a real tonic, with surprisingly little traffic on the roads and lots to do and see within easy travelling distance. We love walking, and there are a variety of interesting walking trails - some gentle, some challenging - in the hills nearby, although the ubiquitous and noisy guard dogs - sometimes five or more to a farmhouse - often made us jump when they all started barking at once on our approach. The hills are most memorable for the variety of bird songs we heard, some familiar some new, although seeing the birds themselves was usually beyond us. I have not hesitated to recommend this attractive villa to our friends, and have already requested a booking there in six months time.

A lovely relaxing holiday

We have just arrived back from a lovely relaxing week at Casa Vist Bonita. The villa is very private, well maintained, clean and comfortable. The garden and pool are very private and have sun all day. There are plenty of nice restaraunt around that are well priced and have good menus. The owners are extremely accommodating and nothing seems to be too much trouble for them. We will certainly be heading back there in the near future. Thank you for a lovely stay
